They have all of the speakers and equipment already set up and it was one less thing for us to worry about. We first spoke with Jesse, who I believe kind of runs the company and went over a list of what we wanted. They have multiple DJs as part of this company and we were paired with Laci. I have to say it was a spectacular experience! She played the songs from the list of guest requests we had gotten when we asked for RSVPs, she was open to day of requests, and really knew how to keep people coming back to the dance floor. She payed enough attention to notice what types of songs kept people entertained and really made everything flow perfectly! She also played a variety (even some polka for my Czech family.) We got a lot of compliments from guests about the DJ and we could not be happier. The wedding party also really enjoyed that she was friendly, helpful, and funny. The altar having a fountain behind it is an absolutely stunning detail for the ceremony. The white stone wall by the outdoor tables made for an incredible background for pictures and made me feel like I was in Greece instead of Iowa. The rolling fields around the venue are beautiful for family/wedding party photos. The grand staircase is a classy touch and made for fun entrances by the wedding party. The chandeliers are a gorgeous detail that tied the whole reception area together. I loved having the rooms for the groomsmen and bridesmaids to get ready in, the pool table in the groomsmen's room was a great idea. Almost all the music was from the 70s and he played quite a few obscure "one hit wonders" we haven't heard in years. A 70s party is not a party without dancing and no one dances if the music is LAME. Levi does not play lame music and kept the party rolling all night. His price is reasonable, he is polite and responds quickly to texts and emails. He even posed for a picture and wore some ridiculous 70s glasses I gave him so he could blend in better. Did I mention I planned this party from California? Levi was THAT easy to work with. Leading up to the month then week of the wedding, I had to reach out on several occasions to pay the reminder of my balance, ask if he received my DJ worksheet to help the flow of the evening, etc. Never was I contacted first. Leading up to the week of my wedding, I still had not heard from my scheduled DJ and Jeremiah had yet to inform me I needed to pick a backdrop for our photo booth. Three days before the wedding, I still had YET to hear from my DJ Ben. Once I was able to speak with him, we discussed the flow of the evening, must play songs, and important aspects of the evening to cover. Isn't the whole point of the timeline for the DJ to have a guide to use and not to need to bug the bride and the groom during the evening or require the bride and the groom to be on top of things as well and get the DJ to move onto the next aspect of the evening? When it came to the wedding night, the sound system was poor. I felt like I could barely hear my first dance song, even on the dance floor. There was no flow to the evening, requiring me as the bride to need a stiff drink to avoid my anxiety about how bad it was. The backdrop to the photo booth was wrong and not what was discussed just DAYS prior. The photo booth attendant did more time flirting with my guests then doing her job. She is in probably 20-30 photos, why? You are there to do your job, so do it, be professional! Only a few of the songs I had on my "must play" list were utilized. As the bride I had to ask about the cake cutting (which was never announced), as well as the dollar dance (which was poorly announced, therefore not even the mother of the bride or groom knew it was happening). It also only occurred for three songs. The list just keeps on going. Following the wedding, it took over three weeks to get access to the google drive for our photos from the photo booth after pestering from my end. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BOOK ELSEWHERE.

We didn't hear from anyone for months. Nothing like adding stress to a bride and groom's wedding! Towards the end of December, we finally pulled the plug and reached back out. Due to personal family situations and the lack of effort or work from House of R - we asked for a refund. After a couple weeks of silence and follow ups, we finally heard back from the team with a confirmation they would issue a refund and stated we should receive within 3-5 business days. The refund NEVER came. Many follow ups, emails, text later - GHOSTED. Thank Goodness our credit card company had out back and was able to dispute the deposit and we got our money back. However, it took 4 months to get to this point. So disappointed. We loved the space and photos of previous work done - but the terrible customer service, zero work done, and lack of follow through with this venue speaks for itself. You've been warned - Just don't waste your time here!

When they say they produce "epic event experiences" they are not kidding - this was a fantastic party! So much thought went into the planning and detail from the décor to the lighting to the food ... there were various Beatles buttons on the tables, drink coasters with song titles, 3 kinds of cake, a bar, charcuterie board, little meat sliders, cardboard cutouts for photo ops, a "phone" to record a message - the list goes on and on. Even the bathroom was decorated and playing Beatles music. The McGuigan Brothers even showed up to play about 90 minutes of Beatles covers (a la their well known Interactive Beatles experience show). The birthday girl had a blast as did her family and friends. Many of us hadn't seen each other in the past couple years and several people even flew into town for the party. This was a great place to host this type of event. I was dropping hints to my spouse that a Bowie themed gathering would be pretty cool someday!!
