This was my first time coming to Bay Area Physicians Surgery Center located in Riverview. It's…read morelocated conveniently to all restaurants, Publix, Starbucks and some other places close by. The nurses, doctors and the anesthesiologist are upfront and informational on what the procedure will be like and the what medicine they will be administer in to your IV needle to help put you to a light sleep. Over all cleanliness is very clean and appearance is awesome. They do have restrooms for men and ladies just incase you have to go before your surgery. Also they do have WIFI for free internet while your waiting but you'll have to ask the staff member in the lobby to get the password to login to the free wifi. They also have a TV on the wall, little play area for the children while waiting. Also a phone located in the lobby as well just incase you need to call someone to update them on a family member in a procedure. Overall I wouldn't mine coming here again the experience was amazing.

I would give zero stars if possible. The receptionist and pre-op were fine. The staff in those…read moreareas were courteous and professional. When the nurse came to take me back for my procedure, she was apparently having a bad day. She slammed the gurney/stretcher into the frame of doorways without a warning - usually they'll say "watch your arms" if you have them on the rail. No such courtesy here. Once in the procedure room, it was very cold. I asked for a blanket (even said please) and after a heavy sigh and an obvious look of displeasure received a "I'll go get one", as she huffed off. When I awoke I was in pain from spasms - not discomfort. I told the recovery nurse who replied "we don't have anything for that". I was asked if I wanted a drink which I refused at that time because of the pain. She told me " push this button when you're ready to leave". Never saw her again. When I did ring the button, another flustered (she was kind but appeared to be trying to do too many things at once) handed me my clothing and walked away. No offer of assistance or checking to see if I was ok. Once changed, she pointed to the door, walked a couple of steps behind me and left me standing in the doorway waiting for my ride. I've had several procedures during my life. Never, after sedation, have I been permitted to walk to the door. I would suggest that the management is too concerned with getting people in and out of the place. I also understand that there is a push to make money but this was definitely Health-I-Don't-Care. Also, my mother had a procedure the week prior at another facility and her experience was much better than mine.

I had my first interaction with Charlene during the intake process, and I was incredibly impressed…read more She went above and beyond by personally calling my insurance company and staying persistent despite the challenges. Having worked in the medical field for over 20 years, I know how frustrating insurance issues can be, but Charlene handled everything with patience, kindness, and professionalism, never once showing frustration. It's rare to experience this level of care and follow-through, especially at intake. Truly exceptional service.

I recently sought a second opinion after being diagnosed with a gastrointestinal condition by…read moreanother practice. The experience left me with unanswered questions and significant frustration, so I asked my primary care physician for a referral and was sent to Dr. Morris Hanan. Dr. Hanan's office scheduled me within a week (we coordinated timing so my most recent test results were available). I came prepared with records, test results, and many questions. Rather than simply accepting the prior diagnosis, Dr. Hanan carefully reviewed my information and asked thoughtful questions about why I believed I had that condition. After evaluating everything, he explained that he was not convinced the original diagnosis was correct and outlined a more measured approach. He recommended a structured dietary plan (lean white meats and cooked vegetables/fruits, avoiding fried foods) and asked me to track my intake and symptoms. Within days, I experienced noticeable improvement. While I am still in the evaluation process, the progress has been encouraging. What stands out most is his responsiveness. He has personally returned my follow-up calls promptly to clarify questions and provide guidance. In my most recent call, he advised gradual reintroduction of foods while continuing to monitor symptoms and suggested a follow-up visit in a few weeks. I appreciate his thoughtful, evidence-based approach and his willingness to reassess assumptions rather than immediately labeling a diagnosis. His staff has also been professional and efficient. If you are looking for a gastroenterologist in Tampa, I would recommend Dr. Hanan.

Very nice doctor he will take his time out to get to know you, your health, family and their family…read morehealth problems or issues. He spent a good hour with me asking me what was going on with the previous Hiatal Hernia and why I couldn't eat with nausea. He made sure nothing else was going wrong with me. The office staff and nurses are really nice and friendly they will also talk to you about why your visiting the doctor today at your appointment and so on. So far so good with my first time visit there to see Dr. Heiman he's a very informative guy he knows a lot about Gastroenterology and he knows my Primary care doctor and GI surgeon when i had my Gallbladder removed. He goes to Tampa General & St.Joesph Hospital and for Endoscopy and other procedures he goes to Florida Medical Clinic in Wesley Chapel.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Dr Heiman is arrogant, disrespectful and incompetent. I had gone…read moreto him a few times regarding finding a diagnosis for what I had been experiencing for MONTHS. At first he seemed helpful but once the tests started coming back negative (and it wasn't an easy diagnosis for him), he became unbearable to work with. During my last visit, I'm sitting in my chair, extremely underweight from all of the stomach symptoms I'd been experiencing since Jan. - when we (my mother and I) started asking questions about the plan of action/ sharing my past medical history, etc, Heiman became extremely irritable (not sure why as this is his JOB) and hovered over my mother and I, being extremely rude and dismissive. He was basically scolding us the whole time for being worried. At the end, he literally tried to have me go and do two tests I had done TWO DAYS PRIOR- he HAD the results. He was either blind when he reviewed my charts or didn't look at all. Considering his attitude in this, I'd expect the latter. When we realized what he had done (again we were extremely uncomfortable with him once he started yelling at us so we weren't thinking clearly), we told the nurse checking us out. When she told Heiman about how he ordered the same tests I had completed two days prior (keep in mind that Heiman was just around the corner in his office so we could hear everything), Heiman rudely kept saying out loud "did she actually do it? Call the labs to confirm" etc. He made me feel so dumb and belittled- it's not like I had done these tests weeks prior and maybe wasn't remembering right - literally completed them two days prior to seeing him. I left in tears because of his behavior and lack of bedside manner. The only good thing about that office are the nurses/lovely ladies who work at the front desk. We were extremely lucky that one nurse noticed his treatment (apologized for it since he sure wasn't going to) toward us and made it her mission to keep pushing him to look at my charts, order the right tears, etc. Finally we were approved for a CT scan (after asking several times to proceed with the next step instead of waiting to get unbearably sick again. Did he not realize I was having this happen for half of a year? I couldn't keep waiting for the next episode to occur. I was skin and bones and falling apart.) I'm happy to say that after going to different doctors/specialists (that actually know how to do their jobs), we found the problem and I had surgery yesterday. Guess it wasn't all in my head after all, Heiman? Best of luck with your superb bedside manner. A disclaimer to anyone reading this and wondering if they should see Heiman- I almost never leave reviews. I wrote this all out because I'd hate for someone else to go through what I did. If Heiman was competent, I could have had answers months ago and not gotten to the point where I felt like I had no quality in life because of the constant "sickness" I was going through. I see he has some higher rated stars. Sure I'm sure some of those are legitimate but I can guess that these were easy cases for Heiman. I liked him at first too, until he became very clearly annoyed with my case and essentially refused to push forward in strategic way. His "help" was to just keep waiting. I hope this may help someone with making the right decisions when going to see a specialist- someone who is supposed to be there to HELP you. I'm lucky that I found amazing Drs recently- ones that listened to my concerns and ordered different test right away. Less than a week later, I had my surgery Best of luck to anyone having ongoing medical problems- I know it's rough which is why finding the RIGHT Drs is so important
