I had no idea where to take my truck but started checking Yelp and found Gem State Diesel. I called and talked to Mike who said to bring it on in. After a long tow truck ride I dropped the truck off. They inspired a lot of confidence but couldn't get it done immediately though, which was understandable as it was a big job. Turbo, etc. Mike called me a couple days later and said it was done. I picked it up and it ran great! Fast forward: My luck is I was coming back through Boise area when I developed a fuel leak yesterday. I wasn't too far from GSD so I limped it in there. Steve was able to identify the problem, get it fixed and get me back on the road. If I were local to Treasure Valley Gem State Diesel would be my go to for sure! Five stars for service, friendliness, and quality.

Thought had to be coincidence until my uncle took his in and the same things started happening. Fox truck, go home- something else breaks/leaks days later. And they are big repairs. Final red flag. Took truck in for a service light. Told us we did something wrong- charged us for labor to look at it. Shortly after, light comes on again. Take it back in and told it "XYZ 'needed to be replaced". Cost was $2000+. Call around- take it to a reputable place that also specializes in Diesel. XYZ was not even broken or needing replaced. Actual cost for the service light issue was $451. Later find out, the item Gem State wanted to replace was just replaced BY THEM year and half ago! Something is fishy with this company. You'll be dumping thousands before you know it. Steer clear.

Other than the 2 trips it sits in my garage and I told you both this. Second the very small indentation you tried to point out I was aware of as well as a similar one on the driver back quarter panel. Your attempt to somehow point out that I am not aware of something of other blemishes is totally ridiculous and does not prove anything but a sad attempt to deflect. Third, no response regarding something so basic as making sure the customers hood is closed before leaving your shop. Sip, nothing regarding that mistake Roel! As I said in my initial review, very put off by approach and comments and will not recommend them nor will I ever take a vehicle back to them.

They got my truck squared away ahead of time and kept me updated throughout the process. The prices are absolutely fair, and it was so nice interacting with a legitimate shop that doesn't try to gouge you on pricing or unnecessary repairs. With their vehicle inspections, they caught an alignment issue that I had been worried about for a couple years and was promised by another shop that it wasn't a problem. They recommended I take it to Big O next door and just as they had thought, the alignment was severely off. I has been driving like this for almost 2 years and no other shop caught this ! They have earned a customer for life and I will be coming here for all my repair needs. Truly lucky that I found this place and I would 1000000% recommend them.

Since my last visit in May, more issues surfaced -- like the Matryoshka doll of mechanical problems; fix one thing, and boom, another pops up. It's honestly a miracle I didn't break down (or blow up!) on the way from California 4 months ago. But thankfully, she waited to fall apart until we got to the Treasure Valley and into the right hands: Chris (SERIOUSLY knowledgable & a wizard with parts and pricing) and Jason (the Master Technician Magician with a sharp eye and zero B.S.). The result? My car is now running better than it ever has: Starts on the first crank No more engine stench Insanely good gas mileage No more holding my breath & praying when I turn the key My last shop in San Diego missed a lot. These guys? Caught everything -- including some jerry-rigged nonsense from the previous owner. Old cars are tricky- sourcing parts, chasing weird issues; they tracked down hard-to-find parts, explained everything clearly, and yet again, came in under the estimate! It wasn't just a repair; it felt like real restoration. Yeah, she still needs a few things (old cars stay humble), but for the first time in a long time, I drive with confidence & CALM. I ask a ton of questions and pay close attention to how I'm treated--and every time I walk into this shop, I'm met with professionalism, honesty, and real respect. It's rare, and it's why I'll keep coming back. Thanks again, Chris, Jason, Noe and the crew. You've got my trust, my sincere gratitude -- and my referrals. :)
