Buyer beware! They refuse to not charge me for a month I can not use due to the Virginia governor closing the gyms statewide. I could not use the membership even if I wanted to. I've also attached the screenshots of the fact that my fee would be waived and then getting the run around from the cancellation email.

I am still absolutely pleased with my membership. The instructors really push you to the limit and I purchased a new heartrate monitor($80) for extra motivation. They are always updating and play a wide range of music to keep us pumped. I also love that you get a compliment bottle of water with your workout and the have a sponsored fountain that fills up your personal bottle. Bottom line, I love it!

Since my wife doesn't post reviews on Yelp I thought I'd write her remarks in a review. Okay, let's start by saying...having boxed and wrestled in my youth and haven't tried this, and probably won't. It seems to be more of a fun workout for folks wanting to get or stay in shape than something someone serious about the sport would do. That said my wife loved it. Trading Session: Generally this hour long workout seems to be more female centric activity but why not? Girls like hitting stuff as much as men, and it's better they burn off frustration (and calories) hitting a bag than hitting their mate. First timers have to go to a prescheduled introductory class but after that go anytime it can fit it into your day. Location: Situated off the main drag of Greenbrier Parkway near the mall (same strip mall as Passion and Y Not Pizza) allows for ease access and plenty of parking. Facilities: After touring the place during the grand opening I found it to be a pretty good little gym. There's enough room between bags to be comfortable. The locker rooms have lockers to secure your stuff and a sink for post workout clean up. The store carries wraps, gloves, refrigerated sports drinks and water. Just about anything you'd need pre or post workout. Service: Everyone I encountered during the grand opening was friendly and professional. My wife found it no different during her training session. She especially enjoyed speaking with one of the franchise owners (the wife of course). Having had to sit through numerous boxing matches with me (including Mayweather vs Pacquiao) she's pretty informative on the sport, and a stickler for form on anything she does so it was great to hear how good she felt about what the staff was teaching. Equipment: The bags were full length good quality water weighted bags appropriate for there use. The matts weren't overly padded allowing for protection from a slip without inhibiting movement. Cleanliness: Hard to say as everything was still brand new but noting the professionalism of the staff makes me think it's not going to be a problem. Cost: Membership isn't cheap but hey what gym is? There are packages offering a certain # of classes to unlimited so you should find a price that fits you.The important thing is to gauge your enjoyment doing the trial workout against the cost. If you like it you'll be back, and you'll either "get in" or "stay in" shape. If you don't you'll be throwing your money away. Overall: If you want a physical cardio workout where you get to beat things then this is for you. If you're a trained fighter or looking to be trained in fighting then it's not. Combining my wife's enthusiasm with what she said and with what I saw and comparing it against price and the lack of reputation history I'm giving it 4 Stars. More to follow as my wife continues on...

But I'm not going to lie I was a little intimidated taking a class when I watch their videos on Instagram. But a couple of days ago. I said to myself life is to short. What the heck! Just go for it. I didn't want to go alone. So I bought my little brother along with me. If you want to take a free intro class just go online to their website and sign up. The intro class is so worth it to actually see what it's all about. I've seen kickboxing on lifetime shows. But let me tell you. It's nothing like what you see on TV and how easy actors and actresses make it seem. It was a serious WORKOUT!!! But a great workout! At one point I did feel a little light headed. And thought I was going to pass the hell out. Lol! Smh! I look over at my little brother like helpppp!!! Lol! I couldn't make it to my water. So I just leaned on the wall to take some deep breaths. I couldn't go out like that and pass out on my first day. Everyone motivates each other. No one judges each other. I loved that! You don't find that at most places. Wow those women and men had me all pump up! I'm trying to be fit this winter just like them! The membership prices weren't to bad too. They also have punch cards for a certain amounts of classes too. I'm not going to share all the juice. Cause what you need to do at this very moment. Yes you can do it!!! Go and sign up for their intro class to see what it's all about. Its super worth it! Then you can go from there!!!

The advances that I have been able to make due to the constant critique and attention to detail from my coaches Tom & Chase are unbelievable. I make mistakes daily, but the key is they are teaching me how to fix my mistakes one step at a time. Slowly molding me into a stronger, better version of myself. I have also gained another family in Grindstone, the friendships forged in the gym are meaningful and lasting. It is undeniable when you step onto the mat with these two that they love what they do and they love teaching and helping others learn their art. Under the watchful eye of coach Tom I will be venturing into his weight training program starting tomorrow, I couldn't be more excited but surprisingly not nervous at all because I know he has my best interest in mind. (Their words when I inquired where Micah was). I went to 3 more sessions after he left and simply did not enjoy the energy in the facility with Micah gone. The owner was running the facility. I have several reasons for not enjoying myself but one can simply say our energies did not align. That's ok. In life we don't always enjoy every person. Instead of being rude and telling the owner I wasn't feeling her I quietly went away. Keep in mind I expressed that I only signed up because of Micah.... After that, I quietly went away, never returned. Closed my credit card and that was that. (My time in the gym was paid in full) I'm leaving a review because they sent me to a collection agency!! I wasn't feeling the owner. She was scattered every time I went back. Something was broken every time I was there, lack of focus with clients, low energy, mentioned they weren't making any money, the music was completely different than Micah's play list. Some energies simply don't mesh and that's ok. I'm sure the owner is a nice lady. I just wasn't feeling her energy and simply would not have signed up if not for Micah. I emailed them and the situation has not been resolved. Ignored actually. New staff is inevitable they said and they have no control over sending me to a collection agency. No concern for my mental state even though this is a place that promotes healthy lifestyles. Micah was the first person I put my trust into in a long time as I'm going through a lot of personal trauma. I want to be around people I enjoy. Enforcing a contract to this extent is a predatory business model. Be warned....Don't sign up for memberships.

It was the only class I ever failed, and don't even get me started on getting picked last for activities. Kids would actually bribe me not to choose their team (hey, lunch money is lunch money. Watch out, cafeteria smiley fries!) WHAT was I doing WILLINGLY going into a GYM of all places? In my mind, ab wheels, wrecking balls, and burpees were words solely reserved for the most terrifying horror stories. I didn't know how to do a pushup, and any time I'd bought a month of gym classes in a moment of misplaced optimism, I never made it past one class (that one cycling/barre class was basically a near-death experience for me). Nothing stuck. But, alas, it was the year 2020. I hadn't even dared trying on a pair of jeans after over 6 months of quarantine. Those were desperate times, so I mustered up all my courage, and on I went. I was greeted by the loveliest and sweetest scarlet-maned trainer, who gave me the run down. 9 rounds, 3 minutes each, 30 seconds of an active rest between stations. It was go time. Was I crawling from one round to the next? Yes. Did I need a step stool to reach the bag? Yes. Have I punched myself in the face multiple times? Yes. Did I look like one of those wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube people outside of car dealerships? Yes, yes, and yes. But, to my shock... I actually *loved* it. And at the end of the session, the trainer didn't make me feel stupid. She made me feel STRONG, for the first time EVER in a gym setting. That's pretty sweet. And that's how you'll feel coming here, too. So almost 200 classes later, I can't say enough good things about this place. I look forward to coming as often as I can, seeing friends, and getting stronger, one small baby step at a time. It's the best. (And I actually put an ab wheel on my Christmas list? What madness is this?!) WHAT'S TO LOVE ABOUT 9ROUND? - You feel like you're a part of a family. - The trainers actually care about you. You're welcomed every time and they're pretty much the best people ever and will brighten up your day. - You get a fighter name.. so what's not to like about that? You get to live your secret dreams of being a ninja. - You're the only one at your station at a time, so you're not comparing or competing with anyone else. - The trainers really work with you and help you be the best you can be. They're kind of like your personal Jedi-sensei-master. - No class times, so it's super convenient. - The workouts are amazing, and it's never the same things twice. (Shoutout to the 5'1 sweat puddle I mop up each time at the end of Round 9. Don't worry, they do a great job of sanitizing EVERYTHING.) - You'll be challenged, celebrated, and championed. - You'll watch yourself be stronger, healthier, and more confident. - And I guarantee you'll actually love it. Who knew a gym could be fun? HIGHLY recommend. There's basically no down side... so why not give it a try? The first class is 100% free. Whether you can grate cheese with your abs or you are haunted by the ghost of gym-classes-past, this place is for YOU, and it might just change your life. P.S. - You might fight yourself incorporating your sweet moves into your daily routine, like roundhouse kicking the fridge closed, dropping to a one-armed burpee to pick up the phone you just dropped, or doing high-knees down the hallway at work to deliver paperwork to your colleague. But won't you look cool doing it? You've been warned.
