Well I was not going to write a bad review and just let the matter go however after the text I just…read morereceived from the owner Jim, here it is. I rented a unit well over a year ago after a move. I placed the majority of my belongings in the unit. Clothes, electronics, equipment and my entire shoe collection. Occasionally I would stop in to retrieve an item or two but very rarely. About 2 months had passed since the last time I checked the unit, I went in to find all of my items covered in mold and mildew. Upon inspection there was a large puddle of sitting water from a leak in the unit. Jim the owner also inspected the unit and found the water and the leak. After putting in the insurance claim (that I had been paying all along) I only received half of the money, which was a fraction of what all the items actually cost. I was told to not remove or throw away any of the damaged items while the claim was reviewed. This lead to being charged another months storage fee ($100+) on a leaky unit with damaged items. The owner knew about the leak and still charged me. I did not pay on the unit and was charged a late fee and additional lock was placed on the unit.... I refuse to pay to get my damaged items back that they ruined in the first place (which all of it is trash now so they can keep it). So to add insult to injury, today Good ol Jimmy decides to text me "YOU WILL BE JUDGED FOR YOUR SINS OF INSURANCE FRAUD".... your faulty unit leaks and somehow I committed insurance fraud??? That's not the way any businessman should talk to customers, especially not when they are the ones that caused the damage. Do not do business with them if you value your belongings. I bought that storage unit to keep my items safe and that did not happen. *update* I deleted the first message, but here's another that I just received. Now he's harassing me.

Screw that foolishness. We drove down to Lowe's to rent a truck, but the New Bern Lowe's doesn't deign to engage in such sensible behavior. So we looked for a U-Haul place and found this place. Nice owner, easy to talk with, and he hooked us up with a 10' box truck for $20 plus 29 cents per mile. What a bargain. We accomplished our mission and saved over $70.

I had hired someone I knew in Wilmington, NC, to pack a 26 ft. truck and take it to New Bern, NC. I've moved around the country several times and knew I needed a truck that size to accommodate my things. When I came outside to look, the cab was left empty and the rest of the truck was packed so poorly that my furniture wasn't going to fit. I called Buddy and told him of my predicament. He suggested calling Mitchell movers in New Bern and talk with Leo, the owner. Leo and his son agreed to drive to Wilmington. They straightened out the truck to make everything fit and drove it back to New Bern. The next day they carefully unloaded the truck and reloaded everything into my storage unit at StorAway. What started out as a complete moving disaster was rectified with the help of Buddy and Mitchell Movers. I would highly recommend StorAway for your storage needs and Mitchell Movers as your moving company.
