Illum Yelp event. Hard at work.
    Dan C.

Was there for a Yelp event. "Lemonade Bash". Was a lot of fun. Wrote a separate review on the event itself. 21 flavors of lemonade, some great sandwiches, a light and airy venue in the Tulsa central library with lots of great artwork on the walls and staff of two lovely ladies who worked their tails off to make this event a success. Next time I go to the library I'm gonna go see them again.

Visited Illūm a few times already. Nothing like the neighborhood lemonade joint to cowork and meet if you need to with a good book. The staff are friendly and very attentive, and I will be bringing people with me to share the experience.

I read an article on Tulsa People about them so I decided to stop by. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by J.T. (Aka Jetara). She was so welcoming and immediately started sharing all about the business. One of their most popular products is their brow duo, a compact case with brow powder, sculpting creme, and mirror. She found the perfect shade for me and did a demo. The difference was very noticeable! The powder has jojoba oil so it conditions the brows and the creme has castor oil which promotes hair growth. They offer waxing services and have fun events throughout the year. Check their website to see what's coming up: a Galentine's event, a foundation workshop, even a brow brunch! I bought a lip gloss that hydrates and is non-sticky. They also promote local businesses. I bought a great scented candle from Tudda & Toots. The strawberries and cream was my favorite. This is a woman and Black owned business focused on offering clean and vegan products while targeting underserved markets and gaps in representation. LAMIK stands for Love and Makeup in Kindness. Their founder, Kim Roxie, moved from Texas to Tulsa after being accepted into the Build in Tulsa Accelerator program. You can find their products on their website, Ulta.com, JCPenney, and H&M.

Their mission is to showcase the creativity and craftsmanship of Native American designers and provide a platform for their work to be seen and appreciated. I first followed them on Instagram after falling in love with Weomepe Designs jewelry. The artist, Dr. Jessica Moore Harjo, is one of the founding members of the collective. I was very excited to find some of her amazing earrings and shirts at the store. They use the pop-up model to explore the idea of a permanent expansion. Previously this year, they were in Broken Arrow. I'm very excited to have them closer. Please support them this holiday season. I ordered the Karaage Donburi which is their fried chicken bowl with rice and I know I am oversimplifying it, but the picture tells everything you need to know. The space was jumping like it was happy hour, and it was only lunchtime. With it being located in downtown Tulsa, it is easy to get to, but you will actually miss it if you're not looking for it because of where it's located at the Gradient building. Having been to their previous dumpling nights, I knew that I would like their dumplings. That's the only thing from dinner I really enjoyed. My friend liked her miso soup and sweet potato. Service is always good. Decor was very clean and modern. Cons: we didn't love dinner. Her first complaint was they did not have any hot tea during dinner service. Which is really weird for an Asian restaurant. We got the Okonomi Yaki. Too salty. The build your own hand rolls were bland. The Chinese cailan was missing the traditional sauce. For me the sauce makes the dish.
