It was a baby roach.
That was the beginning of the nightmare.
After that, they were everywhere -- in the kitchen, in the bathroom, crawling across surfaces, even on my bed. I bought diatomaceous earth, cabinet liners, sprays... everything. I called the office and had pest control come out, but the infestation never stopped. I was constantly fighting roaches just to have a livable space.
When my son came back to live with me, I transferred to a two-bedroom unit hoping for a clean start. Instead, I walked straight into a rat problem. I personally found holes where they were getting in behind the stove. I had to buy steel wool and rat traps, and I contacted management because I could hear activity in the walls and saw clear signs of rodents inside the apartment, like rate droppings on my counter and I caught several mice in my traps in my stovetop.
On top of that, there was mold on the vents, and instead of actually addressing the issue, the maintenance guy literally spray-painted over it. No cleaning. No remediation. Just paint to hide the discoloration. The air coming through those vents smelled damp and made the apartment feel unhealthy.
And keep in mind -- all of this was happening while I was in nursing school. Try studying, sleeping, or even functioning with roaches crawling around and rats in the walls. It was stressful, unsanitary, and overwhelming.
I kept my apartment clean, I reported everything, and I followed up repeatedly. None of the problems were resolved in a real, lasting way.
I moved out in December 2022, and the fact that I am still thinking about this years later says everything. It was that traumatizing, disgusting, and stressful.
Based on what I personally experienced in both units, I would never recommend Fox Pointe Apartments to anyone.
