This review is well deserved and a long time coming. I wish they had stores everywhere, because I would buy from them every time i would need a mattress. My wife and I bought a king mattress in May if last year (2021), in preparation for our move. Being unfamiliar with the process we really had no idea where to start. It was only by chance that we arrived at Illini Mattress. Utterly clueless upon arrival, the staff at Illini Mattress walked us through the show room. The young man (whose name escapes our memory) who assisted us, was knowledgeable of the products, the industry and the preferences of the average joe. We had plenty of time to test and experience the different brands and models. We were encouraged to take as long as we needed, to test everything out in the show room, and it wasn't a difficult task to do, as we found our perfect match with a SEALY HYBRID. Illini mattress was able to assist with a delivery to our new home and a complimentary box spring and bed frame to hold us over until we found a furniture set. Here we are, almost a year later and we are still in love with this bed. We happily returned to the store to pay for the box spring and frame because we are busy and suck at buying new furniture. They were patient and truly exceptional in their customer service. Bottom line: if you are in the market for a mattress, buy Illini Mattress. If you want to support a local business, buy Illini Mattress. We really needed to get a new bed quickly for medical reasons. I went to several mattress places in town. Illini was the last place I stopped. It is a very unassuming place from the outside. Cole navigated me through the opaque mattress world better than anyone and creatively helped me find what I needed without the things I did not for less than anyone else was able to do. Some how Illini was able to get everything almost a week before they promised and installed it while we were 100 miles away. Not only did they do what they promised, which is unusual these days, they arrived at my house 15 min after I asked for it. No we will be there between 7 am and noon. WOW! I am amazed with this company.This family cares more about making you happy than making a profit.They sell quality mattresses at a good price .The delivery is free.They will take your old mattress away for free. They made several 40 mile one way trips to my house just to make sure I had the mattress that suited me best. I do not think I could have gotten better service anywhere in this whole country. I could not be happier with my experience at Illini Mattress Company. The hubby and I went to a couple different places looking for a new mattress. When we got to Illini Mattress Company, Ed, the owner, assisted us. He really took his time, was patient, and taught us a lot about buying a mattress. We picked one out, went home, read reviews about the mattress as well as Illini Mattress Company. I was pleased with what I read. I went back the next day and bought the mattress. It was a good price. We have a new, AMAZING mattress. I also appreciate that it's a family-owned, local business. Delivery was easy. It was fast. The guys who delivered it were really sweet and made sure my dust ruffle was straight and even. haha! This is the best mattress place in town. It's locally owned. They carry brand-name mattresses like Serta, Sealy, Tempur-Pedic etc, but they have their own factory with mattresses they make themselves, too. We knew we wanted a tempurpedic bed and really could not decide which one when we checked them out at the "big box" chain furniture stores. We felt like we were getting the run around while we were trying to make our decision on an expensive purchase. The sales people obviously work on commission and we would leave each store feeling pressured and still not sure exactly which model we wanted. Then we went to Illini Mattress and the sales people didn't pressure us. They let us try out the different models and answered our questions without pushing us into a bigger purchase than we needed. They were super knowledgeable and we figured out the version of tempurpedic perfect for us. We went with the egro support and they didn't try to get us to purchase a king size so we could adjust it differently in case we wanted different postures. We purchased a queen sized mattress and included the egro support. I did tell them that this would be purchased with our tax return and we would be back. They trusted us though and went ahead and ordered it so it would be ready when we received our refund. That was awesome because we were able to get our bed sooner. TempurPedic beds are supposed to be the same price anywhere you buy them (it's a company thing) so why not go to Illini Mattress and shop local AND not feel the sales pressure of someone trying to up sell you to get more commissions. Not only did the guys at Illini Mattress set me up with a very comfortable queen bed and frame, they talked me through the differences between the levels of firmness and why certain types would be more suited to my sleep style and body type. They stayed within my budget and never pressed me beyond what I could afford. Delivery was scheduled for my convenience, it was on time, and both my delivery guys were friendly and efficient. A very pleasant and knowledgeable woman helped me try out several mattress and answered my questions about things like the Tempurpedic and Sleep Number beds. She clearly explained the difference among the various mattresses I tried and I finally chose one. It came with box springs, too. I don't remember ever paying that much for a mattress before but I also never bought one of such high quality. I later discovered that Illini Mattress's prices were quite good. They also removed my old bedding to donate to Women in Transition. My new mattress is very comfortable. My only complaint was with the delivery. It was scheduled for May 2nd. That morning, I stripped my bedding, removed items stored under the bed, moved the old mattresses and box springs into another room so as to vacuum under the bed. About an hour before the scheduled delivery, I received a call saying that the truck from the suppier came the day before but my mattress wasn't on it. It would have been nice if they had let me know sooner so I wouldn't have done all the moving and such. Now I had to move everything back. They finally delivered the mattress yesterday exactly at the time they said, albeit a week late. read more

I tend to have a hard time making decisions about major purchases. These people were so great, and because I visited my mattresses three times, I had the opportunity to see that they gave everyone in the store their full attention. It took me two months to make decision and I didn't feel at all rushed--the delivery guys were great and they were very understanding when I had to change the date of delivery. In addition you are supporting a local store, which in turn, supports the community by donating some of their mattresses to charities. We went to Illini Mattress after sleeping on couches and loungers for two weeks when an order for a mattress, placed with J.C. Penney well in advance of our move, never came in. I found the people at Illini Mattress to be very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. They had a mattress that was equivalent to the one we had decided on, which I ordered on Friday afternoon and was delivered Monday morning exactly when they said it would be. This place is awesome. I went in to buy my first new mattress, and the super knowledgeable guy who helped us basically walked us through each type of mattress and had us lie on them and discussed why each type was good or bad for our sizes, weights, side versus back sleeping, etc. He recognized that we were young and not in the market for a "super deluxe luxury" mattress and suggested mattresses that he thought would meet our needs and be in our price range. Delivery was super speedy (delivered 2 days later, set up was quick even considering they had to carry it up a very narrow and difficult staircase - and they took away our old mattress, too) and everyone was so helpful and professional. We have had the new mattress for a few months now and I love it. It is incredibly comfortable. Glad we came here because we really benefitted from someone explaining to us how mattresses should fit your body. read more
