We walked by Il Trovatore numerous of time during our Weekend in Parma. Never have any intention to dine here, until the last day. It was impossible to get in any good restaurants inside the tourist area without a reservation on a Saturday. Exhausted and tired, we opt to enjoy our dinner away from the crowds and ended up coming here.
Menu in Italian only. But luckily our waiter speaks fluent English and with his help, our limited Italian food vocabulary and google, we ordered:
Tartare di Manzo Piemontese 14 €
- Beef Tartare was tender, lean and bouncy. Made with beef from Piemonte, Northwest Region of Italy. Piemonte cattle is known for its high standard of breeding as well a its low cholesterol content. In the 1870s the cattle started shwoing a unique "double muscling" characteristic that resulted in beef with extra muscle mass and very little fat.
Spaghetti quadrati "fatti in casa" con Parmigiano, gherigli di Noci e Tartufo nero 13 €
- Walnut and Black Truffle! Anything with truffle makes me happy.
Flietto di Branzino al forno con Patate, Pomodorini e Olive 16 €
- Filet of Branzino was ok. My friend ate most of it while I busy eating pasta. (I was given the side eye that I was not helping to eat fish)
Over all was an enjoyable experience.
This is one of those old school restaurants that the lady has a menu without pricing and gentleman given one with price. Too bad, I cannot order whatever I like with someone else picking up the bill.
Il Trovatore always has an outdoor covered patio area if you do choose to dine there. read more
