When you know you are in a small space which has seen the likes of Muhammad Ali and Anthony Bourdain and many other celebrities, you surely feel you are at the correct spot. Buy food as a takeaway and bring it here. You only need to buy drinks, much cheaper than the same restaurants around. Save yourself and do not sit down at any of those tourist traps. You'll thank yourself (and maybe me if you did it after reading this).

Would I venture here outside the tour? Probably not. But definitely serves the purpose for the tours.

It's crazy busy during dining hours, so go at off hours if you can to avoid the crowd. Many of the shops have bilingual menus or visual displays of their dishes, plus a staff with good command of English, so ordering shouldn't be difficult. We ate at one of the restaurants called Sorelle Ribelli, and tried a pasta dish gramigna (a local specialty), and it was excellent. Wish we had more time to explore the market better and tried more food, but as it was only a day trip for us we had to move on to sightseeing. If we ever make it back to Bologna, we'd love to stop by again.

We were just asked to take a seat and it might be a while. Great. We got lucky there were parties before us that were waiting to seat 3 or 4. Within 10 minutes we were seated ahead of the larger parties. The place sits about 24 inside and almost that many outside. We looked around and almost all young Italians. A great sign. The place had energy. We looked at the food around us and we were happy. The menu is not very large which can someone very good...let's cook what we do best. Since the pasta dishes looked so good we had to have them. Tagliatelle Ragu and the Spaghetti alla Gricia with Guanciale. Both dishes were amazing. Delicious!
