Instead, come to this gallery back in the heart of Venice which is full of stunning pieces of handcrafted and signed contemporary glass. If you are lucky enough to secure an appointment for a private tour of their Murano facility (no retail sales there), it is truly an artisan glass museum! BTW be prepared, the prices at this gallery are comparatively high, but the quality of design and execution is amazing.

I initially entered the store because I was curious, but quickly was taken in by the beautiful stamps available. I ended up getting several and now that I'm back in California, I look at these items with affection (and longing to return to Venezia). They are a tangible and useful souvenir of not only my first of many visits to this grand city, but also of this quaint and charming shop. P.S. I should have purchased a couple of pre-inked stamp pads. I haven't found a suitable on that really shows off the designs here in the U.S.

we stayed in the Campo del Ghetto Nuovo area of venice in the north west corner of the city. its a…read moregreat neighborhood! less tourists and more venetians which struck our fancy big time. while walking around one morning on our way to the neighborhood bakery we passed this little jewelry store. i went bonkers over the stuff in the window but it was closed, so onward we went. i went back to check if it opened three more times before we left. luckily i caught them on our last day. (there is a lot of flooding in venice when the tides are high during fall and winter. this place had been hit and the hours were spotty due to clean up inside--all part of the venice experience!) so, i finally got inside and it was all i could do to not go insane and crash my credit card. its full of not only jewelry but rugs and decretive housewares that i cant even remember since i was in "magpie mode".....oooooo shiny! lots of his pieces come from the middle east--venice has a long and integrated history with trade and influence with the middle east, check out the architecture. especially the windows--i bought my mom a beautiful silver and lapis neckless from afghanistan and myself an antique ring from.....well, i cant really remember where. its very venetian style so my brain chose to get lost in the sparkly bits and not take it off my finger. they have tons of new jewelry too and a lot of carnivale style pieces, over the top and understated. and lots of classic venetian style pieces. i wish i could have spent more time (and money) there, but, i had a hungry boyfriend to attend too and they had wet floors to attend too. it was a VERY venetian experience that i would not hesitate to repeat. next time you are in venice and your jonesing for a bit of shine (or a beautiful rug or a magnificent glass lantern) find your way to shiraz.

I went to this shop in Venice in July of 1999 and bought leather bound journal which I still use. My journal is beautiful and is of great quality. It's held up through many travels and is filled with all of my memories from after I graduated college. Definitely worth stopping by.

First she was too busy flirting with a young man in the back to come out and help me. When I finally asked for help and she turned around and realized I was there. I asked for the mask that I had priced a few hours earlier with a very nice lady who was working behind the counter. She increased the price of all of the masks by 20 euros or more per piece. In fact she priced them without pulling them out and also told me a different price. Seems like she is looking to make a bit of extra money. Then when i questioned the pricing she told me she owned the shop to which i turned and walked out. Before i even walked the ten steps to the door she was already back in the back of the store flitering woth that young man with her back to the store. If it is her store then i reccommend not shopping there. If it isnt her store i highly reccommend that the owners think about getting rid of her. She is skimming from sales and allowing anyone who walks by to walk in and steal whatever they want.
