The first place we saw when we arrived was a gelato place and of course everyone wanted gelato. I was thinking, "great, what am I going to have?!" Well, as soon as we walked into Gelato Mio, I saw the words "vegan ice cream" and freaked out. There wasn't like one flavor -- there were lots! I was in heaven. Lemon, strawberry, pistachio, and chocolate flavors -- but I went with caramel -- my fave! It was absolutely delicious! Creamy and decadent. I wanted more from the get-go. Oh, and cheap! It was one Euro per scoop. I loved it so much I came back for more. This is place you don't want to miss if you are in Arco.

Ones where there's an artistry to the making and shaping of ice cream that I have never seen anywhere else. In other words: Italy is the place to be, if you want to enjoy deluxe ice cream. ...And curiously enough, the best ice cream I have had in Italy (or anywhere else) was found in the tiniest, least extravagant shop I could have imagined. Cento per Cento is situated in a tiny, picturesque street just in front of Malcesines castle gates. Behind the counter, there's barely enough space for the two employees to maneuver, and in front of the counter, there's barely enough space for one or two people to marvel at the choice of ice cream. Cento per Cento has all the classics as well as some unique interesting creations of their own. And chocolate crusted waffles - of course ;) For three kinds of ice cream and one such chocolate cone I paid 4,5€ which, I'd say, is the golden standard of Italian ice cream. More expensive than, say, at home in Germany, but also much tastier. The flavors of dark chocolate, cookies, cherry and nuts all merged perfectly, the cone remained crunchy, and didn't get soaked through - it's all I could've asked for and more.
