Located inside Villa Olmi, a beautiful hotel in the suburbs of Florence, this restaurant is open to everyone; you do not need to be a hotel guest. The grounds are beautiful and the interior of the restaurant is also impressive. It's nice but casual - you can dress up a bit or just be a tourist in your jeans.
The wait staff here are proper and provide excellent service. The menu is broken into sections for multiple courses but you can pick and choose whatever you want. I decided to get an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert.
La Crocchetta was my appetizer, a large crispy ball filled with shredded pork shoulder, buffalo mozzarella fondue, and mustard. It was fantastic and fun to eat. Il Tortello was my main dish - ravioli stuffed with potato and covered in beef broth, beef tartare, and giant Grana Pandano cheese flakes. Pure delight for the mouth.
As a dessert I ordered a blondie brownie covered with Nutella and a chocolate mousse topped with a sweet foam.
This was an amazing meal and I'd encourage anyone staying at Villa Olmi to try it or if you happen to be a tourist in Florence with a car to get there, it's worth the drive. read more
