We got a recommendation for this place from my wife's cousin who has lived in the area all her life. The restaurant is easy to find, located just off Piazza Garibaldi. The restaurant offers typical Abruzzese cuisine and based on our experience, they nailed it.
I rarely order gnocchi in restaurants after having gotten accustomed to my father-in-law's gnocchi. It is one of the most difficult homemade pasta dishes to make correctly, imo. The gnocchi with a lamb sauce was as good as nonno's.
The agnello alla brace for a secondi was a solid selection. The region is known for lamb and Il Canestro's was consistent with that standard of quality. Will add this place to our list of area favorites... read more
