This was the very first restaurant we visited when we went to Lucca in March 2019 (my reviews a bit…read moredelayed!). It is a very short walk from the train station and one of the first restaurants you'll see with both indoor and outdoor seating. The day was absolutely beautiful (March 15) and Pierro was our server, he was very attentive and did a great job recommending dishes and wine to go with our meal. The Good: - We had the calzone which was piping hot, and perfectly cooked. We also got a salad with lettuce, black olives, prosciutto, cucumber, yellow peppers and parmesan...it was beyond fresh, even the veggies smelled like they had just been picked from the garden! - We paired this with the house red, which was delicious, my fiancee is not a wine drinker and he really enjoyed the taste (not too tart, not too sweet). The Not so Good: - Because it is a stones throw from the train station prices may be a bit higher than others, but the view is absolutely beautiful of the city and I recommend sitting outside if you do go to take advantage. Extra extra special thank you Pierro for taking pictures for us....we ended up getting engaged at the very restaurant with Pierro as our personal photographer (he did an amazing job!) so needless to say you have two lifetime customers in myself and my fiancee! We hope to see you very soon!! With love from Toronto, Canada.

We stopped in here from biking the wall. I had spotted the cute street on our first loop and on the…read moresecond loop, in need of a drink and food, we decided upon Lo Skianto, mainly based on the large beer sign. We selected a seat outside, facing the carousel and wall, and were promptly served. We picked a salad and a pizza and I got a glad of sparkling wine while hubby got a beer. It was so nice sitting outside watching the world go by in Lucca. Our pizza was fantastic! We picked Quattro stagione and added sausage and are soooo glad we did. The sausage was amazing! This pizza was really terrific and we ate every bite. Our salad was also good - I don't normally care for boiled eggs but the ones on this salad were tasty. It was a fresh salad and lived up to its name as a large salad - definitely one to split! It wasn't until I went inside that I realized this must be a place famous people patron due to the signed memorabilia lining the walls. I can see why - it's fantastic! Great service, fab prices, yummy food, delicious drinks, fantastic views - a perfect stop when in Lucca, whether biking or not!

This is a great place to have a few beers. The bartender…read morespoke English and was very patient. They carry several of their own beers which are solid and a must try, as well as guest beers. 16 in total including a beer engine which you don't see everywhere. They also offer a flight of 4 beers, but it is not posted. It was a narrow bar that went deeper and dark, just what I like in a bar. I walked in at 6 as well as a dad with 2 toddlers, in need of a beer No one even turned an eye, in fact they seemed to like the kids there. They open everyday at 6pm

After a long day of museums and pizza at Gustapizza (which I will post about separately!) we made a stop for a couple of beers from a craft brewery in Florence. Located in a city surrounded by wine makers, Archea Brewery is knocking it out of the park. They are an independent craft brew pub founded in 2012. They have a combination of house made beers and other artisanal beers focused on Italian producers, but do have others from across the region. We had two of their beers, which were extremely flavorful, and two beers from other craft breweries. Beers: Archea Melissa | Honey Ale Archea Salniette | Blanche Con Salvia Cantina Errante Saison Du Coupage 2021 | Lambic Blend / Saison Barrel Aged BFM 225 Saison | Sour Saison Oak Aged We loved both their own beers and the other local breweries with Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes (BFM) being a small, artisanal brewery in Saignelégier, Jura, Switzerland winning global acclaim with their unique offerings, and Cantina Errante located in Florence, Italy focused on exploring their surroundings through their beers. Highly recommend a stop here if in Florence and needing a craft brew!
