Worst customer service and shipping experience that I have ever had. I ordered a shipment at the end of November, scheduled for delivery on the 20th of December. We were told the shipping company would contact us to confirm the delivery date. They contacted us 24 hrs before they were scheduled to deliver via text message, told us we had to be present for a 4 hour time frame, and said we had to call to reschedule. The time frame did not work for our schedule, so we called multiple times with no one answering and each time leaving a voicemail. We finally called IKEA directly, waiting for almost an hour, and was told we had to give more than 24 hrs to reschedule a delivery. After explaining we were only given 24 hr notice, they finally said ok that they would have it rescheduled and the shipping company would call us this time. Again they did not call, and again we had a conflict. We cancelled our plans to make it work. When the shippers arrived, they brought in the packages they said were ours, but a couple of items were missing. I insisted that they go back to the truck and look for a missing shelf. They came back with it. I realized another item was missing, and asked that they go back to the truck to look. They would not & said you have 19 packages here and we were only supposed to deliver 17. They said to take it up with IKEA if an item was missing. They drivers were pulling out, and i realized that 3 of the items were not supposed to be ours. We stopped them, gave them back the 3 items, which meant they only delivered 16 packages instead of 17. They went back into the truck and found the 17th item that I had asked for earlier. We also realized that one of the two dresser boxes was the wrong box. The shippers said we would have to take this up with ikea. We called Ikea that day, was told they would fed ex ship it to us on January 3rd and we would not have to be present for the delivery (over 2 weeks later). January 3rd passed, and no shipment, so my husband called their customer service, and after being on hold almost another hour, was told they were not going to fedex it & that it would be delivered on January 20th (almost 2 months after my initial order). I called back that night, on hold again for almost an hour, and was told they would rush ship it via fed ex & they rep apologized for the inconvenience. She said I would get a confirmation email in 24-48 hrs. 72 hours passed, and no email, so AGAIN i called IKEA customer service, on hold another hour. I was told this time they can not ship a package this size via FedEx and truck delivery is our only option and we have to be present. I asked that they refund my money and shipping cost instead. The agreed but said i would still have to be present for the 4 hr time frame for the shippers to pick it up. I asked to speak to her manager. After waiting on hold over an hour to speak to a manager, the original customer service rep said the manager is still not available but that they would make an exception and ship the packages back via fedex. I asked, "so you can't ship me the correct package via fedex, but you can ship it back?" and she said yes. It makes absolutely no sense. I am supposed to get an email in another 3-5 days with the shipping labels but I have no confidence in them at this point. I could have driven to the nearest IKEA and back (over 3 hours away) in the time i have spent dealing with correcting their mistake. I am astounded with how bad their shipping process is when so many other large companies have it down so well. I have always been a big IKEA fan, but I dont think I can step into one of their stores after this. read more
