The project
Replace the entire kitchen, cabinets and all appliances using cabininets and appliances, hob, dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator, from IKEA Bordeaux using their delivery.
The Good...we worked with IKEA's in-store design staff. Woman with whom we worked was excellent. Very good design skills. Plenty of patience through two sessions so design pleased us and her. Cost for service was minimal. The Bad...however, trying to use the on-line service to get an appointment was a nightmare. We despaired of ever getting one. After multiple tries, we secured an appointment, but when we arrived on thé appointed day and time, there was no record. Staff came off lunch break to help.
Delivery
Was very expensive and a guarantee was required from our builder that the hundreds of parts were all as ordered...down to the last screw, and all appliances were ok...upon delivery, obviously, an impossible task.
The Products
After two months, thé pneumatic closers on two of the large drawers have ceased to ease the final closing and must be closed by hand. We were told the appliances were European Whirlpool, whose quality control must be pretty bad. There was convex protruding dent in the bottom freezer door. It could only have happened before the refrigerator was boxed.
And that's where IKEA's real ineptitude showed up. Last August, upon discovering the dent...and after several tries...we filled out the online claim form, attached the appropriate photo and sent to IKEA. In March of this year, we received a notice apologizing for the delay and assuring we'd hear soon from customer service. It's August. Nothing.
And my wife speaks fluent French, so that's not the problem.
Overall Impression
IKEA's Bordeaux kitchen design staff is first rate. It's guarantees are worth nothing. It online systems are the worst we've ever come across.
