George Skoufis is the only optometrist that has sourced and found both sunglasses and specs that I can wear in public and look cool. I can't and won't go anywhere else. They have collections from uncommon Australian and overseas based eyewear designers, so you will most likely walk out with eyewear that no one else in Sydney will have. You won't find Prada, Chanel or Gucci here. The staff there really make an effort to make sure you find the perfect pair and have a great sense of style! Recommend this optometrist if you want to look unique, stylish or just plain cool. Very eastern suburbs :)

Anyway the shop window of Perfect Vision Optical has skulls wearing their stylish glasses range, I was drawn to the window not by the skulls but by a pair of cloudy clear framed sunglasses. I love sunglasses and I particularly like clear plastic frames, I must not buy these as I already have three pairs of sunglasses with clear frames and do not need more. If I ever needed glasses though Perfect Vision Optical would certainly be a considered shopping destination. They have an excellent designer selection, including Tom Ford (I want Tom Ford sunglasses, I want them now), Vera Wang (I didn't even know she made sunglasses), Ed Hardy (someone bring me a bucket) and amongst others a seriously cool brand I was unfamiliar with called LA Eyeworks. They also offer Laser Surgery services, but why bother when you can get such awesome glasses. really need to start staining my eyes.

I made my appointment and it all went very smooth. The optometrist was sociable and skilled and the time that it took to get the exam done was short. But when it came to picking out the actual frames the options were limited. Most of the glasses frames were very narrow; too narrow to fit comfortably. I ended up deciding on two pairs and they were ready within a week. About one month later the screws fell out of my full plastic frames and I was left without working glasses in the middle of a vacation. When I arrived home I started to use my other pair but within a week the cheap metal that was used on the nose pads began to turn and stained my nose black. The blackened area quickly became irritated and dry and also caused my skin to break out in massive black heads. Glasses need to be cleaned, faces need to be cleaned but to have a product that is created using cheap materials that turn and stain your face... not acceptable. So now I have been able to fix the other glasses with new screws but I am surprised because I have been wearing vision glasses for most of my life and have never had screws just fall out. The other pair of glasses is basically a waste since the cheap metal nose pads turn my skin black and irritate my skin. I would never go back to Oscar Wylee for glasses and I would not recommend them to anyone. It was money wasted.

Eyeballs Eyewear on Oxford Street in Paddington certainly capitalises on this obsession, as they stock some seriously stylish eyewear, and they cater to all our fashion obsessions as they sell both prescription glasses and sunglasses. All the higher end glasses shops are stocking Tom Ford at the moment and so they should, his sunglasses are amazing, some of the best designs I have ever seen. Another great brand Eyeballs are offering is Mykita who are a German brand providing extremely funky, Hi tech yet well made eyewear. Lindberg is another brand on offer, which is a little more classic and demure, but none the less stylish. A great shop.

I informed the store and initially, they were helpful and suggested that I bring the glasses in to address the problem. I attended the store yesterday, where they replaced the rubbers on the arms but not the arms themselves. I don't know the reason, but the store informed me that my glasses arms were actually meant to be mismatched and I should just accept that that's how quirky glasses designers roll. This is the first time I've ever been gaslit by staff in a store as a paying customer. Now I'm in a position where I've spent nearly $700 on designer glasses with mismatched arms and no remedy available. Not happy.
