Located inside the Carte Hotel with two floors of state-of-the-art everything...plus reserved parking across the street (a miracle in Little Italy). The staff? Superstars. It's got indoor/outdoor turf, a pool, a hot tub, and equipment that looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. It's high-tech yalls! Views of Downtown and Little Italy? Chef's kiss. They've got eucalyptus steam rooms, fresh towels, spacious lockers and showers, and even grab-and-go drinks and snacks. I basically never want to leave. Group classes are where it's at: yoga, HIIT, dance, and even reformer Pilates (yes, I feel fancy). Booking through the app is a breeze. The gym is always clean, never overcrowded, and yes people wipe down machines. Germaphobes, rejoice! Worth it? Because health is wealth and this place makes fitness feel like luxury. Beyond that, I have been benefitting a ton from the initial consultation and pt with Ghyslain! He's awesome to work with, like genuinely knowledgeable, very experienced, professional and fun to be around. The way he honed in on exercises that I needed and the little tweaks he makes to form while I'm lifting is incredibly helpful. I feel like I've been learning a lot from him and plan to continue the pt at least until the end of the month! I've made it to a couple of classes so far and have really loved them too (including Natalie's hot yoga!!). I think once I get more comfortable and a bit stronger from the workouts I'm learning in pt then I'll start making it to more of the classes and more frequently. I had originally found Neely over covid when she was leading virtual strength classes, and I reached out to her after the world opened up again to see if she could help me with my arthritis pain. Fast forward almost three years later: Neely has helped me build up my strength to the point where I can do things without thinking about them or worrying if something will aggravate my knees. Over the last three years I have injured myself again multiple times (a meniscus tear last year and a torn calf earlier this year), and each time Neely helped me recover faster and get back to building strength. I haven't had good experiences with physical therapists and I was worried about trying a personal trainer, but I'm so happy I did! Neely works with you to meet you where you are today and build a program that progressively gets you to where you want to be. But it's thanks to Justin's leadership the entire team inspires me, whether I'm hearing other trainers across the gym or chatting at the front desk, or moved just a bit extra by daily quotes on the whiteboard. Every hard rep is celebrated with high fives and every day I'm not training, the staff is working hard on my nutrition, my growth, and adjustments for chronic pain. John was there to hear *all* my concerns my very first day, top of which was that I've been recovering from an eating disorder since 2012 and had been fearful of training because of triggering language or incentive. John briefed the whole team for me, and 8 months in I've never once had to explain myself or course correct. They got me, they push me, they celebrate with me, and see me as a person they're really invested in. It's obvious that same level of energy and investment carries to all their clients. Today I feel strong, excited, powerful, and healthy. I fit my jeans again, I'm eating better food, and I'm still completely removed from bad habits, all because the iron orr team carries that weight (and counts for me every rep! ;) ) I've come to love them all as friends and members of a big San Diego community and I'm going to train there the rest of my life, on my way to becoming a ripped grandma.

My personal trainers, Francesca and Logan, have both been fantastic in their own ways. Logan brings a sense of positivity and ease to training that reminds me of the best sports coaches I've had in my life. His affirmations and encouragement make me feel confident and strong. Like many places, personal training here isn't cheap, but it's been worth every penny. In just a little over a month, I'm down 7 pounds, and I know this team will help me reach my goals. Losing a big portion of my fitness was very mentally challenging, so I started off training with her to get back into a routine. Prior to that, I had been "working out" for many years, and following a more structured program for 1-2 years. I would say I am moderately educated about training and nutrition, but Cory still provides a HUGE value and expertise that will push your training to the next level. Coming from a science background, I especially appreciate that Cory is very evidence driven in everything she recommends, from taking note on progress to diet recommendations. I never feel like I am wasting my time. She really helps you narrow down what tweaks you can make to achieve your goals in a very realistic, sustainable way. Personally, my goals were improving overall fitness along with some aesthetic progression. Cory has done a great job guiding me to achieve this. There were some workouts I had been doing for years and was doing alright but never quite felt it in the muscle like I was supposed to. Cory really knows the right cues to help you develop your mind muscle connection and you will definitely feel and see the difference. Even though we are working hard, I look forward to my workouts because she is not only a great trainer but an enjoyable person to be around. I highly recommend her if you are someone who wants to make a great investment for your health and confidence!

I took myself on a little gym tour, trying to find a good replacement and though all the options were so much better than my former gym, North Park Fitness really stood out to me! The person working there when I came in for a little tour was very kind, I never felt pressured to join, he answered all my questions, and then has continued to recognize me ever since. It just felt very personable! He also took the time to make sure the gym would meet my needs and even offered to ask him any time if I ever needed help using a machine I was unfamiliar with. I love how clean everything is, and I notice how on top of it they are at fixing anything broken. In the year I've gone here, my favorite machine has had a rip in the seat twice and both times it was fixed within a few days of me noticing it. I appreciate that they fix things even when it doesn't affect the mechanics of the machine! They also have a huge variety of equipment, more options than when I was at my former gym that was much bigger. The only complaints I have, in my opinion, are not easy to change with a small, local gym in North Park. North Park Fitness can't change the parking options, that's a North Park problem. It is a bit pricey, but again, that's a North Park problem. I also researched and found a couple other small gyms near the area that were much more expensive, so I appreciate not having to pay hundreds of dollars each month at North Park Fitness!

I've been dropping in here for almost a year, and the front desk staff has always been friendly and helpful with me. My interaction with the owner today, however, left me feeling really put off. First, he gave me a hard time about the drop-in rate and was telling me about some personal trainers trying to sneak clients (I wasn't sure if he was suggesting I was trying to do that but it made me feel uncomfortable). Later, he asked me to not drop my bb on the lifting platform while deadlifting because it's too loud (I've always done that, that's what the lifting platform is for...). I couldn't help but to feel like I was being patronized because I am a woman. I've trained at many gyms over the years. This was the first time I've felt treated with so little regard as a client. I've liked this gym before but I won't be coming back again.
