Pretty picture of the IGS palace in Dublin, isn't it? Reminds me of a casino. Grand casinos aren't built on the backs of winners, are they? Signing up for an energy supplier is like playing roulette. You might win, but more than likely the house is going to win. After all, they have a lot more experience dealing in the commodities market than you do. You really think they're going to intentionally lock you into a rate not advantageous to themselves? After my dad died, I discovered my parents were locked into a high rate for natural gas. It may have been a decent rate at inception, but rates have fallen. Did IGS bother to adjust? Nope -- they just kept renewing year after year. They ended up ripping off a widow on a fixed income until their son that knows how to read a gas bill took over. They had the nerve to show up at her door the other day wondering why we dropped the contract. I explained it in no uncertain terms. IGS, while operating withing the boundaries of the law preys on people's fears with the uncertainty of utility bills. In my eyes, they are liars and thieves. Do yourself a favor folks, ride the market. A contract with IGS is a spin of the wheel. read more

WOW... I can't believe I fell for this act. An IGS representative came to my door early spring(2019). My big mistake was answering my door and talking to him. He told me that IGS was cheaper than what West Penn Power and Columbia Gas was charging me and I would be saving money every month. IGS was $16.85 higher than what Columbia Gas would have charged me this past month and the difference for my West Penn Power bill was $23.66. So I paid IGS $40.51 more this past month. If you get your monthly bill they show the West Penn rate verses the IGS rate. IGS rates have been higher EVERY MONTH since I signed up 6-7 months ago. I canceled IGS this past week. Today I got an invoice from IGS for an Early Termination Fee of $99 for West Penn and $99 for Columbia Gas. So IGS told me that I would be saving money monthly. Now they want to charge me $198 because they DID NOT uphold their end of the contract so why should I !!! Good Luck on That!!! They can explain all of this to my lawyer. As a consumer that has free will and the ability to make decisions we have to take some of the blame when it comes to making bad choices. Most Americans do not have the slightest clue when it comes to making a good choice on a supplier of a must have utility. Knowing the per cost of therms, kilowatts, etc is the most important detail. If a supplier claims they can get you lower bills overall in comparison to your current supplier, that could be true but it requires work. Most of these details are not readily shared anywhere when making this choice. As a renter or an owner, if having to pay for electricity or gas to heat or power your home, take some time to understand your bill. Call your local providers and ask customer service to explain the bill to you and what is necessary to know. First talk with the major supplier of the utility. Most of the time they would provide you with all the details you need. Go online and do some research. Most often there is some sort of free website to gain details about utility providers and must know information provided by ex- employees of these companies, local government and npo's that want more information out there for the common consumer. I.E Citizen's utility board, etc. Know that if having gas service you are charged per therm. These rates rise and fall all the time. Calling in and asking to be "locked into" this rate gives you 12 months at that rate. Call in any time during that time period to make use of changes if the rate reduces. Providers make money on you. Your rate will only change if you call your service provider in a timely manner. They will NOT undertake lowering your rate. IGS requires a phone call to make changes. Its an easy way for them to make money on your irresponsibility. Imagine if after your first 12 months you do not call, they adjust it to whatever rate is available at their discretion and so forth. Most consumers assume a lot of things; like that rates rise and fall and that it reflects on their bills. NOT true. At anytime you could be paying more or sometimes less than any of your neighbors. When the sales person for IGS told my parents they could lower their Nicor bills they agreed and signed on. The salesperson put them into some sort of "budget" system without explaining all the details or the fact about rising and falling rates. Seniors tend to hear what they want, so when sales guy said "lower rates than Nicor" that's all my folks needed. What IGS did was take the average number of therms used throughout the year and charge for that all year round. Their claim is that it saves you money. Call your local major utility provider to find out exactly how much you average in the summer versus winter. These numbers are grossly different especially living in the Midwest. Some years are colder and some warmer and you may not need that many therms but are being charged for them. Imagine your neighbor is paying $50 dollars in the summer and your bills are over $200 year round. With this in mind, say if its a very cold winter and would expect higher bills, according to Customer service since you are budgeted you would still only pay whats within your budget right? I don't think so, at least that's not what I saw in looking at all of their monthly bills for a year. There were rises and falls in cost. Some details are not clear and when calling customer service much information is not clearly shared. There is a lot of bicker about what the major provider charges which is charged on top of the charge from IGS. Which is why its important to understand your bill. You know whats not cool..? When you type IGS Energy in Google and the first six or so entries are about ripoff reports or other websites where concerned Americans are bitching about service and unfair business practices. I'm from Chicago. One call to understand the bill with Nicor and I learned A LOT. Three calls to IGS where one was useful but the other two were talking circles around me. Realizing you have been overpaying for over two years hurts the heart and mind. Also note that if you opt to stop services with a secondary provider it can take up to two billing periods or so they say. They can continue to get your money at a high rate till the change back is made. WTF right. Another thing to keep in mind is the energy is still coming from the major supplier. These major suppliers have options, pricing options, the same deals to save you money as the secondary suppliers do. Also if you ever have any problems with service, you never work with IGS but are told to call customer service at the major provider. Isn't that crazy? Other than collecting your money, what else is IGS doing for you??? Read my review once or twice. If you like, contact me via Yelp and we can talk about it. Hopefully I'll remember all of the information I learned in the last few days. I would rate them a solid 2.5 stars if I could. read more

I was approached by IGS Energy today at my home in Rancho Cordova, CA and they were trying to get me to switch from PG & E to their service for my natural gas service. They say that they're going to "protect me from PGE's energy increases" by guaranteeing a fixed rate of .69c per therm for 3 years. DO NOT FALL FOR IT! PGE is only .52c per therm plus a charge for delivery. You still pay PGE's delivery/billing fees even if you switch to IGS, making it much more expensive. They wanted me to bring them my bill so they could show me how much they would save me. I don't think so! What a SCAM!! I hope this review shows up in Sacramento where I live and they are trying to scam people. read more

Let's see. Every review here was posted in the last few days. They all say almost the same thing in the same way. Two of them are obviously by the same person, Matt W/Matthew W in Columbus. Let me share MY experience with this company instead. They use highly misleading, even deceptive business practices to try to get you to switch to them as your natural gas supplier, by implying that they are calling from your existing gas company and asking for a code from your bill that is, according to my gas company, all they need to switch over your account to them. Their caller ID gives a false number and a false location of where they're calling from. Repeated requests to ask to be removed from their call list get you nowhere -- except hung up on. Today I filed a complaint with the Michigan Public Service Commission over their harassing phone calls and deceptive marketing. I wouldn't buy anything from a company with these kind of practices if it was half the price I'm paying now. Which, by the way, it's not. read more

Scammers. They are very well trained in the art of deflection. I asked questions which I did not get answers to, he answered in a generic long winded way as to appear as if he was. The sales person asked to see bill, and contracts from other providers. Instead of getting bills I Googled IGS Energy and read other websites other than their "official" one. One of them was Yelp, and after reading the number of negative reviews I decided to not to allow the IGS salesperson continue with his pitch. read more

IGS sent me a letter saying "Hey, your current electricity agreement expires soon ... mail back this form and we'll enroll you once your contract is up!" Great, fine, I thought ... but instead they immediately enrolled me, subjecting me to an early termination fee from my previous provider. I called IGS to complain and they played the "not our problem, we had no idea you were with another company" card ... oh yeah? Then why did the letter you sent me know that my plan was due for expiration? I'm truly disappointed with this company and I can't wait for the five year mark. I'm paying more now than I've ever paid. This has been a rip off for me. They told me 15 cent, but SDG&E continues to charge and the bills from IGS have not been low either. Watch out!!! I'm paying the saying thing plus more. Recently we had some issues with our house as these things happen with a 65 year old house and IGS Energy's complete home warranty saved us. We had significant leaking in our basement due to faulty pipes and the plumber came out, looked at it, made his suggestions and we called IGS and not only did they help cover it- they covered the whole thing. I was not only shocked to get a great warranty, but to also have the amazing customer service they provided. For a guy who is not familiar with all the ins and outs of home warranties they really took their time and explained it to me in a way that made it easy to understand what would be covered and they gave some great recommendations. The experience was super helpful and I would say this company is one of the rare ones that matches their product (in this case home warranty) with outstanding customer service. Although there are many providers you can choose from, IGS is the absolutely right choice; so do yourself and your house a favor and choose them. This is an outstanding company and one that I am grateful to have working for me and with me as I continue to upgrade and fix things around the house. I would highly recommend IGS to any homeowner. read more

This past summer our AC went out. We were miserable as it was nearly 90 degrees. If you've ever run into the problem of having to replace your broken AC unit then you know that it's a costly purchase. Thankfully we invested in the home warranty program from IGS and they took care of a portion of the replacement making the financial burden far less steep. When you're a homeowner things can go wrong at any time without notice. Give yourself the peace of mind knowing that you have a home warranty program that'll have your back when issues arise! read more

I have been with IGS for several years and appreciate being able to receive electric, natural gas, and home warranty protection from the same company. The website and dashboard have made it easy for me to manage all three. The customer service has been fantastic the few times I had any questions and the representatives have worked with me until I fully understood the products. I appreciate being able to find answers on the website but also having someone I can call. I always recommend IGS to my family and friends. read more

I feel like IGS scammed me into switching to what was supposed to be a cheaper electric and gas price but turned out to be more expensive. I thought I had 30 to 90 days to cancel with no early termination fee (ETF). I canceled after my first bill and i was hit with two $99 ETFs. The supply charges are higher and i would not recommend switching to them over Duke energy. I had a variable rate with Duke and it was still cheaper than the fixed rate IGS signed me into during peak season. I was going to be locked in to the highest rate possible for three years and I didn't want that. I'm not sure if i can get my ETFs dropped but i'm willing to pay them so that IGS doesn't rip me off for the next 3 years. read more

Guy came to the door posing as someone from the village and comed. He wore a village tag on him. He asked for the owners (but the name he had was previous owners) he then said our name was not updated and he needed to update our electric bill and account number. (Made It sound like village requirement) checked yelp while getting the bill. It almost worked out for him but luckily we have yelp. IGS actually one of many suppliers you can choose from on your utility bill. You don't have to sign up with these people and no your electric will not be shut off! I told him I would call comed, he said we would call together and I said no thanks. Right now we did not choose a supplier for our comed and just let comed do it. Most of the suppliers that you can choose from end up being more expensive. What I didn't appreciate were the sales tactics that were used here (this is whoever has Lake in the Hills, illinois area didn't catch his name) and I let the guy know I didn't think it was right. In which case he proceeded to roll his eyes at me. I asked if he could please stop doing that, he said that he was sorry but I was "annoying him" we got into it a bit after that.. skipping past the back and forth in the end I think he understood where I was coming from deep inside somewhere. I hope I at least made some sort of positive impact here and he would stop using those sales tactics and try a different approach in the future. I maybe would have signed up if he were honest and up front with me about the entire program from the start (and showed me what my current rate was versus what they can do) He denied trying to dupe me in the end and blamed it on the "old owners" name being incorrect. read more

IGS Energy is the BEST gas and electric supply company there is. IGS has AAA customer service-when you call IGS, you immediately get connected to a live customer service rep-unlike the competition that puts you on hold for a half hour plus. Their enrollment prices are always fixed, so you get exactly what you pay for, which is unheard of in an industry that is notorious for astronomical variable rate pricing after a rock bottom introductory rate. When I switched my electric to IGS, I immediately received a warm welcome in my email inbox, and knew I made the right choice. Pay no attention to any negative reviews you read here, they're just people upset with the fact that IGS uses door-to-door home sales as part of their new customer acquisition strategy. read more

Energy certainly isn't an easy industry to navigate, not as a business and definitely not as an individual consumer. IGS as a natural gas and electricity supplier provide some of the best products out there. Among the many suppliers there are to choose from, it's easy to work with IGS via their website or through their expert call center. I've had my parent's house on IGS since I first heard what the company did. Every time I move (except once because it was Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) - and they are flat out location-monopolizing, price-discriminating gougers...c'mon, 11 cents per kwh? Robbery. But anyway, I digress...) where was I? Oh yeah, every time I move, I sign up for IGS as soon as I can to get either a great fixed price or a flexible variable price that works for my needs at that new place. From a Home Services perspective, I've also had IGS Home Protection on my properties (and it's for sure saved my @$$ on several occasions). Every time I get on the website, it gets better - even through the app - it's super easy to enroll for services and products. Whenever I call in to the call center to make a change to billing information, or if I have a question, I feel like I receive great, professional care from whomever I'm speaking with on the other end. I think it's great that IGS has expanded out beyond just the natural gas space and offering things like solar and home warranty. I love a one-stop shop for all things of a certain space (you know, kind of like how you can pretty much anything now at the Apple store). IGS seems to also have a really great community connection, doing a ton of good in charity and philanthropy. It's important that big businesses give back and stay connected in the real world. In summary, I think IGS offers great products, great pricing, and great service across the board and in an industry that's particularly difficult to understand, helping make it simple and easy for the rest of us is the most important thing. I have been with IGS Energy for a few years now and was just offered a deal I could not pass up. Anytime prior I have never had an issue with hidden fees or with their customer service. The few times I have called, their customer service has always been top notch and very courteous. The last time I called was because I had another company offering a rate substantially lower and the IGS rep said he honestly could not get that low on a fixed rate but could offer me something that would get me close. I was offered a 36 month fixed rate that was the lowest I have seen and was only about 20 cents higher than the variable. I could not pass it up. Now, I don't agree with the door to door sales but at the same time it's better than a million phone calls. I highly recommend IGS Energy. read more

Had a man show up to our house wearing a mask under his chin, stating he was selling IGS. He leaned into our front door and stated "don't worry I get tested every week I'm not sick" when my husband leaned away from him. He started his pitch and when my husband politely told him we aren't interested, he became very rude. My husband explained he used to sell energy like this as well, just didn't go door to door and the man said "Ok well I do" with an extreme attitude, and mocked us for not "doing our part" for clean energy. My husband said ok I'm just letting you know we aren't interested have a great day, but the man cut him off and said "Can I finish this" and kept talking. I walked out to tell my husband his boss was calling for him since we work from home, and the man kicked his snowy boots in our door frame, kicking the snow into our house and walking away. Shady and pushy sales tactics: lies and ignorance. IGS showed up at my apartment yesterday afternoon (around 2:00pm) in Columbus, Ohio claiming that we had overpaid our electric bill and I was owed a refund. I wasn't there, but my roommate texted me about it. The Rep would not identify himself nor would he answer any of her questions. The entire thing sounds like one of those scams where they try to get account information from you and then switch your providers without telling you. She sent them away after a rude encounter. I called IGS and spoke with the operator about my concerns. She told me that there were 2 kinds of sales teams, one associated with IGS and another, third party group. They were to have ID. She then transferred me to McKenna's voice mail (I'm assuming she is a supervisor); I left a message explaining my concerns and asking that IGS not return to my apartment. A few hours later (6:00), my roommate called me and put me on the phone with the IGS rep. He said that that he heard that I spoke with his supervisor. He made claims that we over paid. When I explained my current billing and how that is no possible, he then claimed that my Bill suggested that he could come switch our service (or something like that) - I explained again that this wasn't accurate. He explained that he had already gotten the rest of my apartment building (about half are older people who probably don't know better) and that I was the only one left. This continued until he realized that I pay attention to my bills and didn't believe what he was saying. I asked him to leave his card with my roommate (he left a brochure with an 800 number). He never presented ID and wouldn't answer her questions. She told me the entire thing was creepy. I then called my actual power company - they said that companies like this will trick customers into giving over account information or signing a contract. Sometimes they can save money, but most of the time the rates change and customers end up losing money. This morning I called IGS again and talked to Jessica (an operator) and explained the situation again. She put me through to McKenna's voice mail again. I also e-mailed the customer service line - Jessica assured me that McKenna would give me a call back today. After talking with my neighbors, these reps have been around the neighborhood and have been extremely rude when people express non interest. According to the Columbus Code of Ordinances 523.14, it is illegal for solicitors to attempt to contact residences that display a sign that states "no peddling, "No Soliciting" or "no canvassing." The fact that IGS returned a second time, after being asked not to come back, means a blatant disregard and is unacceptable. read more

Terrible customer service. Staff was rude on the phone and they did not seem to know what they were talking about

My fixed rate expired and without warning I was being charged more per month by IGS, so I decided to explore other electric providers, as that is an option in my state. I found a much more reasonable, long-term plan with another company, and signed up, leaving IGS behind. Since I've done this, I've been repeatedly harassed, via phone, mail, and yes, even IGS's infamous door-to-door sellers. Despite being told, both in person and over the phone, that I am not in any way interested in returning to IGS and that I had found a much better rate, they've continued to send me mail. Stay away. Once your fixed rate deal expires, they will not warn you and begin charging their higher rate. And if you dare to change suppliers, they will harass you non-stop. I'd report them, but I imagine it will only bring on more phone calls, letters, and unwanted solicitation. read more

I did check today and they are charging me 6.99 as apposed to 5.07 from consumers energy. 39% more. I would have been good with 5-10% more but 40%!!!! This is one of those stories that makes you sick to your stomach to tell. Some years ago I signed up for IGS after they approached me with the promise of saving money. At this point I will sidebar to say that this is a commercial address and I own several of them but luckily was only duped into changing service at one. This winter, I noticed my gas bills were over $2000 at one of my addresses. It was brought to my attention and I paid to replace a few older furnaces and did some checking on indoor temperatures there. After still getting high bills, I looked at a gas bill and to my shock and horror, I saw that I was paying .699 CCF and on my other properties .407! That's right IGS was charging me nearly double. I called thinking an adjustment would be easy. The guy on the phone was rude. Before I could even explain the situation he tried selling me a contract with a price of .489 for the next 12 months. He talked over me but when I finally got my story out, he told me it was my fault for not looking at my bills and said there's nothing he can do for me. I asked to speak to a supervisor, he put me on hold and got back on the phone saying that the supervisor told him to tell me that I should have looked at my bill and there's nothing they can do. When I explained that they promised me I would save money and I have lost thousands of dollars he said 'you can't know that'. When I went over numbers he said that the math is complicated.
