I stood there for about 10 mins, he never even acknowledge my presence, just talking on the phone and smiling. Returned about 1.5 hours later. The same guy was flirting with a lady, never acknowledged my presence. After a few minutes, Daniel, assistant mgr appeared. I started by mentioning that the previous mgr offered to waive enrollment fee for me. Daniel said it was impossible for him to do. I offered to pay in full for a whole year - no help. But Daniel never mentioned that Crunch website was offering enrollment special for a reduced enrollment fee of 26 cents. I've decided to to pay in full anyway, for convenience. Daniel wrote a contract where numbers make absolutely no sense, he never offered to show me the contract ( I trusted him because I had such a good memories of talking with Patrick, the previous manager) The total is $189. Almost $50 more than the website offer. The next day I wrote about the problem to the manager@crunchRoslindale.com. Five days and no reply. I was out of state for 5 days. Today, 1.4.2026, I went in person to try resolve the problem. Daniel refused any help. I am surprised that $50 is more important than a happy, retuning customer. Jay Halicki

Crunch Fitness in Roslindale is an okay gym to go to. Price for membership is quite affordable and good bang for your buck. It does get pretty busy here though but that is the downside of gyms like Crunch and PF. Honestly though, it's all dependent on the time you go! Squat racks are usually taken if you're coming in afternoon or evening time here.

She is a great instructor, always tweaking the formats to improve our workouts and eliciting feedback from members to ensure we are getting the most out of each class. She knows everyone by name and it truly feels like a community. I have taken both the boxing HIIT class and strength and conditioning class. Boxing HIIT encompasses circuits including boxing combos on the bag, alternating with HIIT (eg burpees, jump squats, jumping jacks, etc), with rounds of dumbbell work and abs mixed in. It is truly a full body workout. I took my boyfriend to a class and he was absolutely drenched in sweat by the end. Strength and conditioning is more of a traditional circuit format with alternating exercises focused on strengthening your arms, legs, back, and core. They also have boxing technique classes, youth boxing, and kickboxing classes throughout the week, and now sparring on Sunday. They just introduced women's only kickboxing class on Saturday morning which I am super excited to try out! Overall such a great addition to the JP community and one of my fav local businesses.

I really wanted to like Lean Force Training. The facility itself is decent, and the class structure…read moreseems organized on the surface. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by one major issue: the trainer's attitude. There's a big difference between being tough and being discouraging. I came in excited and ready to work, but that enthusiasm didn't last long. From the very first session, I felt more criticized than coached. Corrections were delivered with a tone that felt less like guidance and more like condescension. At times, it honestly felt like the trainer was more interested in pointing out what I was doing wrong than helping me improve. I get that some people thrive on the "no-nonsense" approach -- but there's a fine line between pushing someone and shutting them down. Several times, I left class feeling worse about myself than when I walked in, and that's not why I signed up. A little empathy goes a long way, especially in a fitness environment where people are already vulnerable. If you're looking for a place that emphasizes progress and encouragement, you might want to keep looking.

However, I could not have asked for a better trainer than Federico! He trains with technique and is very strategic about what movements to do to target certain muscle groups. I came in thinking that after 15 years of sedentary living and bad eating habits I was going to get re-made in 3 months. The truth is that after 6 months I feel stronger and more fit than I have felt in years. No, I do not have a perfectly sculpted gym body but then that was never my goal. I have lost some weight and have more to lose which I hope to tackle with more enthusiasm than ever in this new year. I have noticed muscle development in my shoulders, arms, chest, back legs and butt. I have a physically demanding job and at 55yrs old I was having a hard time getting through my daily work routines. Since training with Carlos I've noticed huge improvements in my ability to do my job. I face the day with more energy and take on the physical challenges of my job with confidence. I look forward to the challenges of this upcoming year and know that Carlos will be by my side helping me set and achieve my goal of improving my health and fitness for my lifetime. I want to be here for the long run and want to be healthy enough to enjoy my middle age and my inevitable old age.

Dear Yelp, I never thought it would happen to me…read more.. I finally found a gym that fits my schedule, my personality, my budget, and my scientifically proven need to cuss up a storm while doing kettlebell squats. (See: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-do-we-swear/) First of all, it's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You get your tag and swipe yourself in. If you want to workout at 11pm on a Friday night or 5am on a Tuesday morning, you're covered. They have panic buttons you can wear if you're there alone. I chose a 6 month membership for myself and my spouse and our rate is $80 for us both, which is quite reasonable. They also have a bowl of Kind bars. So if you worked out and you're hungry and staring across the street at Dunkin', you can grab a free healthy bar and resist. The facility is super. The gym is cozy and comfortable, with brand new weight machines, treadmills, bikes, mats, free weights, a punching thingy (I think that's the technical term), jump ropes, and various and sundry necessary fitness equipment. Even the bathrooms here are spacious and comfortable, offering scales, showers, and spotless commodes. But the excellent facilities and machines and free granola bars are not the end of the story. The place is staffed by some very dedicated professionals, including the magnificent no-nonsense trainer, Crystal. She will push you to your limit and then some, all while cheering you on as you try not to die from the umpteenth bicep curl. She has makeup like a beauty queen, a mouth like a sailor, and you get 3 personal training sessions when you sign up so she will whip you into shape and give you a customized workout plan you can do on your own. And the people who come to the gym are regular people looking to get fit. There are no crazed 88lb gymbunnies. There are no creepy orange guys with bulging veins. No one is making snide remarks about what people can or can't lift. This is the first gym I've been to where I don't feel judged, and that's the best feature of all!

I cannot recommend this program strongly enough! Shannon helps you be what you want to be. I am the…read moresame person I was before her program - yet simultaneously completely different. I had been on an exhaustive 10-year career search, looking for a position that fit others' expectations of where I should be next . . . Not realizing that the career I was already making for myself, was most closely aligned with my values, beliefs, and desire to live a balanced, yet well-paid life that puts my happiness, and presence for my children first. (As Shannon put it, I am like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz - in that I didn't need to "look any further than my own back yard.") I wanted clarity over the future direction of my career, and to get to where I want to be. This goal was met due to the expert advice of Shannon. My product and brand has been strengthened, and I am much more mindful and intentional about the career decisions I make. Shannon listens, then reminds you what you said is important to YOU, rather than fit you into a cookie-cutter program. I wholeheartedly recommend the Whole U. process.

I'd hire a professional to fix my car, or operate on my heart... so I'd certainly hire a pro to guide my way to my new career. Working with Shannon helped me set up a road map to reach my goal.
