Pork Tenderloin with pickles and onions

I've been going to the Igloo for the past 40 years and it's a true gem! Service is great and fast ! I've loved the pork tenderloin sandwiches for as long as I can remember. Hoping that I will continue visiting the igloo for the next 40 years!!

Amazing service, treats every customer like they are a food critic. Made sure everything was perfect, extremely fast service, outstanding quality! The owner even introduced himself to me and waited on me. A must "go-to" if you are in the area. They are definitely on my "Top" list for the area.

My parents went here on their honeymoon. Back then, they had car hops who brought food to their car. I love places like these that are steeped in history. I had the root beer (delicious!) and the tenderloin. I love that my root beer came in a real frosty glass and that my sandwich was wrapped in paper and stuck with a toothpick. Simple. The tenderloin was delicious. Maybe it's because I haven't had one in years, but the Igloo tenderloin just might be my new favorite food. We also shared a plate of fries. They seemed to be hand-cut (not sure) and they were tasty. Everyone inside was super-nice and I love the maps on the wall where you can pin your hometown. People from all over have eaten here! I'm already planning a trip back to central Illinois just to visit the Igloo!

Pretty standard diner fare. Cute 1950s furniture, pies a-la-mode, burgers and chili cheese fries.

Igloo House is a Peru Illinois favorite among the local community. I wish there were more food options but going with local eateries is always worth a shot. The overall atmosphere matched that of both the warm community and a family owned diner. I came here on a recommendation and left very pleased. The food tasted so fresh and probably the healthiest greasy food that I have ever had. The pork tenderloin and the fries were perfectly cooked and I enjoyed how crispy each fry was made. A little birdie told me that they make most, if not all, of their food from scratch, so the fries were freshly cut! My only feedback for this place is that there should be more sauce options for the pork tenderloin As a tip, you can get immediate service sitting by the stool area. I did not try the root beer, but heard only positive feedback from my dining mate. Also, they make their own flavored soda (cherry 7up). Overall, I would recommend this place. The prices are affordable and I can vouch for this place that they do make a pretty mean pork tenderloin.

Always a classic. Home made root beer, great service, and the tenderloins and fresh made fries are delicious too! Worth the trip!

The Igloo has always been the place to go for a pork (pork tenderloin sandwich), hand cut fries and chocolate malt - a trifecta of delights.

They have some pretty typical bar food if you like fried things. Bar and grill, with most of the focus being on the beers and cocktails. It's just best to not take chances and play it safe. The bar looks pretty divy from the outside, and rest assured it's like that on the inside too. Amazing that it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There must be noise complaints one can imagine about the crazy patrons. It's about $3 for the cheapest drinks. There's often specials including on beers and wells. Food menu has greasy favorites. It's about $8 for a burger or a sandwich. Loads of toppings. Big menu but most of it is meaty. There's a few things made with avocado and sprouts, but usually in combination with bacon or something. For sure it has a lot of choices if you're looking for typical bar food. It's located on the street it's named for obviously. They're even open for breakfast, so you can get your drinking on early, while getting eggs and whatever.

John the owner was very friendly and in addition to great stories to share, he also talked my brother and I into ordering a damn good Reuben. I didn't think you could find places anymore with great prices....but I could have ordered nearly anything off the menu and paid twice as much in my hometown. It's good to see places like this that have survived the pandemic. The bar is covered with stickers of bands that have played there, another plus that they support area music!

Got the sampler for a late lunch and shared it among the three of us (we expected to eat light)…read more Was $37. Our sides were sweet potato tots and cole slaw. Given it's double the price of a single meat platter, I expected it to comfortably feed two. On the platter were two solid ribs, a quarter dark chicken, and one hot link which were all solid sharing portions. Brisket which I understand would be one of the more expensive items - was one slice plus a sliver of a dry end attached to it. I'm not sure if that's one slice or a one slice plus what one was counting as a second slice. This was a disappointing mark - I thought about asking the server about whether we should have at least a full second slice. Pulled pork - to me is a much less expensive item compared to brisket - yet a relatively small amount. Not as egregious as the easily measured brisket. Cole slaw - even if it was made in house as opposed a commercial bulk supplier, this is a low cost item no? Small dish. Quality is very good - just a question of the quantity. Tap water here seems filtered for neutral taste. It was a nice day on a quiet Sunday afternoon so we opted to get seated outside on the patio with umbrella shade. Traffic going by was light and quiet. Two servers available during the lull while we were there and the worked as a team to check on us outside.
