Would recommend it if you happen to shop at Coles & are missing a few Asian ingredients ;)

If you're lucky you might get a spot out the front door on bony any Road. But then again hell might freeze over too. Their range is varied enough but not massive and is actually comparable to Woolworths Redfern. However, their prices make them too expensive to be a regular place to do your grocery shopping. If your after a snack or something small, it is WAY cheaper than any convenience store in the area. Especially if you're just after some milk!

They also have a great variety of Asian drinks, my favourite being the lychee juice with little bits of jelly in it. And a can of Coke (in its various forms) for $1, where can you get that in Sydney nowadays?! So if you're wandering down Harris St, and you're in need a of a quick refreshment, don't be drawn in by the overpriced convenience store on the opposite corner of the road, drop into Orange Supermarket instead!

You walking pass 2 sliding doors and mini escalator will bring you down stairs ( and vise versa ). Small cafe on the right hand side after you on lower level, and coffee is supply by Vittoria, you know this brand supply a good quality coffee. They had deal for coffee and cakes. Sign on every isle will guide you find items that you need. The have their own bakery section, and hot food items, as you can choose and maybe try items on promotion, ( this lady is offering me tasting of roast chicken while I'm writing on this review ). Well, on top of that they also offer free wi fi.. I know it sound a bit unusual but I think they want people to shop over here and who ever giving company feel very comfortable to be able to browse the net and write review on yelp. You can just duck down and grab whatever it is you're out of. And this Spar has just about everything you could want. It is a bit pricier than the Woolies up at Redfern Oval, but I guess that's the cost of convenience. When you're battling to not binge on chips, lollies and soft drink, it's the worst. They have an amazing range of all the above and more. I mean they have all those obscure imported soft drinks like Dr Pepper in all their high fructose corn syrupy goodness!! Actually, come to think of it (leaves to go get a Dr Pepper...) P.S. The staff are really friendly and always happy to help you find something.

Think I'd pass on the fresh vegetable section, which sits out on Military Road and looks like it has worn the exhaust fumes just a little too long, but inside it's like being back in Chinatown ... a wealth of Asian ingredients and flavours that you can't find in Coles. I'm not a fan of Asian sweets, but there are plenty of those on the checkout counter, and some of those odd sweet/savoury mixes that seem to be so popular there. Plus rice in large quantities and a choice of ice cream flavours from durian to red bean.

My deer-in-headlights look must've been obvious because the shop keeper came out from behind the counter and asked if he cold help. I rattled off my list of ingredients while he scoured the store and came back with everything I needed - some with multiple options! I also walked out with a solid collection of tea, enough rice to feed a small nation and some vegan ice cream. Since then, I've been back a number of times and always have a brilliant experience.

They have a huuuge cheese selection for a local supermarket, plus plenty of olives and a great range of organic products - ahh, Marrickville I love you. They also have some of the best Turkish delight I've ever tasted. Available in almond, vanilla and rose, it'll set you back just a few dollars for a plate and is great to take along to dinner parties. (Look near the dried fruit and nut section in the fresh fruit department.) The Banana Joe's website has a great tabouli recipe too!

I love Banana Joes…read more They have much better produce than Coles or Woolies and lots of specialty gluten free items, cheeses, cured meats and... just other quirky things, sometimes organic and health foodish, sometimes ethnic that are really good and/or hard to find. They have Chobani Greek Yoghurt (hit or miss at other supermarkets) and if they could just get on the Puregg Egg White train, I could ditch Woolies at Marrickville Metro completely and just shop here.
