I have called and asked to to talk to someone. I have left my phone number and no one calls back. We have eye insurance and we also paid out of pocket for our glasses. Reviewing the billing we noticed that the billing was higher than what the insurance company and them agreed upon. I called and asked again about my glasses and then questioned the amount we were charged. I was told that I had picked expensive frames. My husband had all the information in front of him and explained how much they are only allowed to charge because of them participating in our insurance. The woman suddenly had to hang up because she had a meeting to attend. We called our eye insurance and explained the situation. The eye insurance company called this office and phoned us back. We are getting close to a $200.00 refund for over charging. At the time of this post I still don't have my glasses nor do I know if I will get them. They are paid for. We feel this was not good business

The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable and will give you honest opinions when you are picking out glasses by yourself (which I am quite grateful for), and I personally feel that they have a large selection of frames to choose from. The building has a nice atmosphere and layout to it, as well. Something to know: if you have an astigmatism and don't plan on wearing glasses often (just for an hour or two before going to bed) but would also like to one day semi-soon get Lasik, don't bother wasting your money on the glasses and just put it towards Lasik later. Your eyes will take so long to adjust to the glasses after having worn your contacts that you'll never wear them and you'll have wasted your money on them. This is just what I"m personally experiencing right now -- you could be totally different. All lin all, I love the service and treatment I have received here and would recommend it to anyone else.

Anyone that can provide such precise and efficient care to their patients, as they do this, they were still absolutely on the mark once again. They were professional, caring, and knowledgeable . I am so glad that I have these persons helping me with my eye care.

Two years prior to this appointment, I was prescribed a progressive bifocal at another vision center and had an awful experience. I could never see out of the glasses, everything was blurry, and wearing them made me physically sick. I expressed my concerns with the staff at Visionworks and they actually listened to me and explained why I had so much trouble before. The woman that did my exam was knowledgeable, patient, and took time to answer my questions. Then I worked with another woman to pick a frame, and go over my concerns about my previous experience with a progressive bifocal. She was extremely knowledgeable, explained the difference between my previous lens, and the one I would be getting, and assured me if there were any problems, they would correct it. I picked up my new glasses on Saturday , January 4th, and the same remarkable woman that helped me pick my glasses. Was there when I picked them up and again, customer service was absolutely the best! I've now had my glasses for five days and I love them! I cannot remember the last time I could see this clearly and I want to thank those amazing ladies at Visionworks!! I will never go anywhere else for glasses and you may see me sooner than later for contacts. I wish I knew their names to give them credit but I hope they see this and no that you both made a difference in my world!

This is the only eye doctor that I've ever been to that only measures you one eye a time and not…read morealso both together, doesn't ask you if it's clear or if it's blurry (only a relative better or worse), doesn't let you use both eyes at the end and confirm that you can see clearly with them together--I didn't even read a single line 100% correctly (I know because I verbally said I dont know on some of the characters) before he was ushering me out the door. When I started asking how can I know how my prescription is going to be if I didn't see clearly yet he got really uppity with me and said that he made the prescription and I have to go pick out glasses, he was very hurried to get me going. When I went to pick out glasses the staff was nice enough, but there was an discrepancy between what I'd been told by my insurance that they were covering for me versus what the staff said that the insurance was covering me for. The staff said that she would call to confirm, but she didn't, and they just deferred to what was listed on their papers. I'm not good in these kind of situations so I just tried to get through the process as efficiently as I could so that I could leave like the doctor made clear he wanted me to. And at the end of this visit? I was given a receipt for what I paid for, but I wasn't given the paper with my new glasses prescription, so I have no idea what my new vision situation is. It was a very disappointing experience, particularly because I have no idea what it's going to look like through my new lenses when I go to pick up my glasses in a couple weeks. Unfortunately this is the second time that I've been here, and the second time that this has happened. I thought the first time was maybe a fluke, but this made it clear (at least something was clear) that it's the standard for this doctor. Furthermore, my prescription from last time wasn't all that strong, so it's no wonder that my eyes are even worse off now! If you enjoy playing Russian roulette with your vision care then this is the place for you. If you prefer, however, someone that illustrates that they care, someone that takes time to answer your questions, someone that's thorough and makes sure that you can see clearly and fully through the exam equipment before sending you out the door, then do yourself a favor and find somewhere else because you will not get that luxury here. Update: I decided to wait to post this until after receiving my new glasses, so that I could compare them and genuinely give them a shot to prove me wrong. Unfortunately that did not happen. While I was impressed between the difference of my regular awful vision versus the glasses, when I got home and compared my old glasses with my new towards various texts of various sizes, thickness, and distances, there was in truth very little functional improvement, maybe only about 5% more accuracy, and really the only thing I noticed was simply that the things that I could not make out--things I really should be able to read--just had a more solid color, indicating some vague improvement but not really anything meaningful. My eyes will still strain to make some words out when wearing them, leading to them "getting weaker" as this doctor put it, and how convenient that will be that it will call for making another eye exam appointment. I will not return to here that is for sure. I'm disappointed, and now my head hurts. I just wish that he would have let me read just ONE line all the way through correctly. Just lazy and unprofessional and maybe even calculated. And for the cherry on top at pickup, though it slipped my mind until I got home, I still didnt get my Rx paper. I keep a folder of these things so it isnt as if that it an unusual practice. Evidently it is for this establishment. Very, very dodgy.

My husband was getting his eyes checked by a local optometrist and he found a hole in the back of…read moremy husband's eye and said he needed to see an ophthalmologist ASAP. There wasn't anyone local that took our health insurance, so we had to go to Ophthalmic Associates, which was almost an hour away. I specifically asked for Dr. Bezak because that's who is listed on my insurance company's webpage, but the girl said if one doctor is covered, they're all covered. She had me fax the referral and the pictures that the optometrist took of the eye to the doctor on call. She called me back the next day and said the doctor said it wasn't an emergency and they could see us next Friday, September 2, at 10:15 AM at their Richland location. That weekend, I went online to their website to get directions and saw where we could fill out some paperwork beforehand and it would save 15 minutes the day of the appointment. So I emailed them and advised them of when my husband's appointment date and time was and asked them if they could fax or email me the paperwork. On Monday, they emailed me back and said there wasn't any paperwork to fill out to just come into the office. Friday morning of the appointment, we went to check in at a kiosk, and I was having trouble checking him in. Someone was sitting there at the counter and she asked if she could help me and I gave her my husband's name. She said his appointment wasn't until the following Friday. I said, the girl on the phone said it was today and we drove from Altoona. She said, I'm sorry, but we don't have any openings. I said, I even wrote an email asking for paperwork and gave my husband's appointment date and time and no one corrected it. She just looked at me. So we left. The following week. We came, checked in, and waited almost an hour for them to call my husband. The nurse was talking to him and I could tell something was wrong and I asked what was going on? She said, he's going to have to come back on the 23rd because he needs to see Dr. Bezak for this problem. Dr. Mauzy doesn't handle this kind of problem. I said this is crazy. Nevermind. We'll go somewhere else. This is the second time we drove over an hour for nothing. They knew what kind of problem he had before they made this appointment for him because we had to send over the pictures of his eye with the hole in it. So I don't understand why they would schedule him with an ophthalmologist that didn't know how to work on his problem eye. I had such high expectations for this ophthalmology office when they were so careful about us faxing the picture of his problem eye to the doctor on call right away. They just seem to drop the ball. I don't know what the problem was, but they sure didn't go out of their way to be helpful when they knew we were driving almost an hour away. I don't recommend this office.
