Let's talk about vehicle stickers…read more I was not aware of this phenomenon until I moved to Illinois. I was not aware that many suburbs had them until I moved to Wood Dale. THOSE stickers are actual stickers. They are an enormous pain to get off. It took me over an hour to scrape, peel, razor and spray my previous two off. So enter Lombard. You know what Lombard's vehicle stickers are? Vinyl cling. No adhesive, no mess. BRILLIANT. I love it. It's such a small thing, and yet, I am so grateful. For I know as long as we live in Lombard, I will not have to peel and scrape endless stickers off my windshield each year. (Oh, and the police and public works departments are pretty helpful, as previously noted. They listen to my suggestions. They take my stolen GPS report without calling me an idiot. It was built in 1924 and was a home for Civil War widows. Until 1973, it was in continuous use by veterans' families. It had 34 individual bedrooms with communal bathrooms, a kitchen, a large dining room and a family gathering room. The brick part of the building doesn't look bad from the outside, but the front white porch-like front area needs a lot of work. Preservationist we're successful with getting this home listed in the National Register of Historic Places. There is now a historical marker outside the front entry. Another cool thing is that the side street (Ohio Street) is still a brick paved road. I hope this will be preserved and properly renovated in the near future. I think a nice restaurant/event space would be nice. It seems to have a lot of potential. The exact address is 224 North First Avenue.

I was so upset that I called back, not knowing what Ogden was, and she said don't call here again. I want to work, but I don't know if I can...I'm motivated, but I'm so sick of always failing because of disabilities getting in my way and then people thinking I'm either lazy, irresponsible, a chronic substance abuser, dangerous, or just somebody who hates working. Those things are labels that hurt so badly it becomes a greater barrier to getting work than the application and work itself. The constant fear that one day missed with a call in or five minutes late a few times is the difference between you doing a good job at work and staying until the job is done well or getting fired only to be replaced by the same type of lady who answers phones at the Loop office and puts disabled people at risk of suicide or hypothermia and death. Where is this mayor? I'd like to meet him and explain to him my understanding what this office is for and why it should exist. And it annoys me to death that people with disabilities somehow all became one thing that is always comorbid with addiction and so we are approached as with a sort of twelve-step ideological framework that undermines my intelligence and reminds me that the twelve-step programs are cults and most people die who try to fix problems that way. Moderation, as controlled by our natural free will, is the key to living healthy and complying with medication according to your doctor and otherwise living honestly and charitably will heal you to an extent. The twelve-steps is a sick ideology, that is similar to Islam and Freemasonry - they aren't religions and don't deserve tax exemptions of any kind...they are gross ideological deformations allowed to persist in the human mind. My one star review has nothing to do with service at the RG Post Office. I have been going here…read morefor years and have never had a problem with service or the staff. In fact, I give this PO glowing accolades. My issue is that there are only three prime parking spaces in front of the Post Office and the majority of the time, the same BMW is parked in one of those spaces. I think one of the PO management parks there. As I get older it is harder to move around and at this time, I still refuse to get a handicap placard because I know some people are worse off than I am. Maybe it is just me, but I think the prime spots should be reserved for the customers and PO staff should park elsewhere.

Probably the most amazing aspect of Chicago's engineering are these Underground roads that bisect the city center - especially north of the loop. It makes things so much easier in terms of getting around if you use the Subterranean roads - especially Lower Wacker Drive. There are also some other scary little streets used for deliveries and drug deals and such. And for selling Persian Carpets (Rug Deals) as well.
