Our experience with Ritani over the past three months has been extraordinarily frustrating. What…read moreshould have been an exciting engagement ring purchase turned into months of repeated mistakes, returns, emails, phone calls, and broken assurances.
We originally ordered a 6-prong setting, but Ritani made and delivered the ring with a 4-prong setting. Ritani acknowledged that this was their mistake, so we sent the ring back to have it corrected. Before returning it, I very clearly requested two things in writing: (1) correct the setting to the 6-prong design we originally ordered, and (2) resize the ring to a smaller size. Customer service confirmed in writing that both requests were documented and would be completed.
When we received the ring back, the 6-prong setting had finally been corrected, but the ring was still too large. I took it to two local jewelers for measurement, and it was still larger than the requested ring size. I had also previously called Ritani and was told someone would check with the repair department and get back to me, but I never received the promised follow-up.
So we had to send the ring back to Ritani AGAIN!!...
Because we had already lost confidence in their repair process, before this next repair I specifically asked Ritani to verify the finished size on a ring mandrel before shipping it back. Laura confirmed in writing that she had reviewed everything with their team and specifically promised to provide "the photo of the confirmed size on a mandrel."
They shipped the ring anyway WITHOUT taking or providing the promised photo!!
Afterward, Ritani admitted that this verification step had been missed: according to their explanation, Repair passed the ring to Shipping, Shipping was supposed to contact Customer Service for the photos, and that simply did not happen.
To make matters worse, despite our having confirmed twice that the repaired ring should be shipped to our home address, Ritani instead sent it to a WeWork/preview location, requiring us to pick it up there.
And after all of that, the supposedly resized ring was still noticeably loose. We took it to a local jeweler again, where it measured the original large size. At that point, after months of mistakes and multiple repair/return cycles, we no longer trusted Ritani with another attempt and decided to pay a local jeweler to resize it properly.
Ritani offered us a $100 refund for the inconvenience. How wonderful?!!
The most frustrating part was not any single mistake. Mistakes happen. It was the pattern: incorrect original setting, repair instructions not properly executed, promised follow-ups that did not happen, a specifically requested QC/photo verification that was confirmed and then skipped, and shipping to the wrong location despite repeated confirmation. We dealt with multiple customer service representatives--including LAURA, DIANE, and OLTA--over the course of this process, and communicating with Ritani became exhausting.
For an engagement ring--an expensive and emotionally important purchase--the level of quality control and follow-through we experienced was unacceptable. We spent far too much time chasing updates and verifying work ourselves that should have been checked before the ring ever left Ritani.
I would NEVER purchase an engagement ring from Ritani again!!!
