Make sure you ask for transparency around billing before getting any level of procedure done here. My insurance was billed over $1000 for something that took 5 minutes and I was never informed that this wouldn't just be covered by my copay amount and office visit payment. Dr Crawford and his staff are wonderful. I have had ear and sinus problems for years, ear infections, ruptured ear drum, vertigo and ear tubes that were put in by an ENT in calif before I lived here. Dr Crawford has treated me and exceeded my expectations. He is the best ear Dr I have ever seen. He is compassionate, kind and so very knowledgeable. Dr James Crawford changed my life for ever! I was referred to Idaho Ear Clinic to evaluate my Constant and On-Going Severe ear infections. If I could leave zero stars I would. The one star was earned by the nice ladies at the front desk. So I had this additional ringing in my ear on top of the traditional white noise you hear when things are really quiet. It was driving me crazy so I came in to get it checked. I had to get a hearing test, which the results said I have good hearing and then talk to the Physician Assistant. He explained that I was getting older and yeah that sometimes happens. I thought cool nothing to worry about. Then I get a bill from them. FYI, I have preferred classic blue cross health insurance so it's pretty good coverage. In total I paid almost $350 out of pocket. The total invoice Idaho Ear Clinic billed me and insurance was around $1,100. I tried to get them to explain why the bill was so high and if it was a mistake. They gave me a bunch of work around BS and said it was correct even though they spelt my name wrong twice and got the email incorrect. I know they over billed me and insurance for the work that was done but it's hard to prove. This group commits highway robbery and its better if you find another place to get your ears looked at. read more

I have been an Audiologic and Electrical engineer here and in South Philly for 35 years; and although I have never met Dr Eric Wilkinson in person, we have corresponded for the last decade. Idaho Ear Clinic is building a new one; and it's almost completed, opening in a couple months in January 2022. Now, let's move on to ABI surgery, for adults and kids. ABI's have been around for a while now; and around 2012 the FDA approved three trial sites: House Ear Clinic with Dr Wilkinson, UNC-Chapel Hill with Dr Craig Buchman, and NYU Langone with Dr Tom Roland, who is also an EE undergrad. Was seen for a questionable spot in my right ear canal. Exam by Dr. Wilkerson found nothing in the ear to treat. While getting ready to leave I asked the Doctor if anyone in the clinic accepted California work comp insurance for a hearing exam. He questioned my need and I said I had work related hearing loss and tinnitus. Dr. Wilkerson's exam notes stated my chief complaint was tinnitus, causing me difficulty with insurance. When asked to correct the exam notes to what I was seen for, he refused. I am very disappointed in his dishonesty or unwillingness to correct a mistake. read more

First visit as my previous ear doctor retired. I was very impressed with the office and the Doctor, I was only having my ears cleaned but this was done VERY quickly with the latest technology, the staff was very friendly and the Doctor was professional and had the job done in record time. I will return for my next visit in 6 months. read more

My family and I had been coming down with Strep Throat several times over the course of a year so we went to our primary care physician to be tested as we were worried one of us or our kids was a carrier. When we were seen, none of us currently had symptoms of strep, but were referred to Idaho Ear Clinic to be tested. When we set up the appointment, we asked if we should bring in the whole family, and they said we should so we could all be tested. We took the kids out of school and I took time off work so we could all go down there. When we got there, the doc came in and checked my throat and my wife's and remarked that neither of us showed signs of strep. I said, "I know, we know none of us have current symptoms. We came in to get tested to see if one of us is the carrier." He said they would have to order tests ad we could get that done at our primary care doctor... the one that referred us. The doc kept talking to us about the possibility of getting our tonsils out, but none of us wanted surgery and were just there to get tested. Which never happened. He never looked or talked to the kids, so we took them out of school for no reason. Neither of us were tested for anything. Only talked to for about 10 minutes. Because of that, the office sent us two bills for $158.09 for each (myself and my wife. Mind you, this wasn't two separate appointments, we were both in the room and talked with the doctor at the same time. It might be one thing if they just sent us one bill...). So the doctor could tell us what we already knew. I called and told them, and they said, we were seen, so the charges would stand. You provided no service, you provided nothing valuable, yet you think it's fair-game to charge us hard earned money, that comes from my pocket (as we currently aren't able to afford insurance) for nothing. This clinic said they talked to my primary care physician and they said they referred us for "evaluation and possible tonsillectomy". No one ever talked about surgery to us, so when there's miscommunication, what can I do about it? We were always intending to get tested from our primary doctor, to the girl making the reservation at this office, to the actual appointment. What we were seeing the doctor for never happened. The doctor didn't have to expend anymore resources than 10 minutes time and they're content charging us over $300 for it. Absolutely disappointing. Even though the office manager understood the problem, said I was still on the hook for the charges. I wouldn't be surprised if I get a bill in the mail for the phone call, trying to straighten this out. Be careful if you walk in the door for any reason. Again, you might get billed. They seemed decent enough when they were sharing an office with my chiropractor cousin. My mistake. I suppose the silver lining here is that I have the ability to leave an honest review that might make 10 people think twice about where they go. I wonder what that will cost... Giving two stars instead of one, because the doctor, at least, was a nice enough guy. read more
