'The medication Experts' Pfft! Let's get into this shall…read morewe?! Dad's been on Hydromorphene, amongst other medications for about 10 weeks now due to cancer treatment. One of his medications is a compound, magic mouthwash. Another one is Hydromorphene. Westmount pharmacy is one of 3 compounding pharmacies in Peterborough. Since it is so close to their house I figured it was our best option. It has been nothing but a shit show at Westmount from day 1. The first time I gave them some grace because of the ice storm and their computers were down. However they had already charged his insurance company for the $170 mouth wash and then couldn't fill the script because they 'couldn't access' the computer. They couldnt reverse the charge with his insurance company, making it impossible to go and fill it somewhere else. So he was forced to go a couple days without it, even tho he had already paid for it. They also tried charging cash money even tho his benefits have always covered it at Princess Margaret. After me questioning it they suddenly had a way to make it covered. A separate occasion, I was told his mouthwash would be ready at 5:00 the following day but upon arrival, 24 hours later; I was told they didn't have the ingredients to make it. It is now 5:00 on a Saturday and no other compounding pharmacies are open until Monday morning. Nobody called to notify they couldn't fulfill the script. He depends on this med to avoid thrush infection to numb his mouth and throat and make it somewhat bareable to swallow as his mouth is disinigrated due to extensive radiation. PRHC pharmacy was finally able to give us both the anti fungal and numbing agents but couldn't compound it and told us to mix equal parts per dose. Westmount told me after the fact that PRHC could have just sold them the ingredient they were out of and they could have compounded it for us. Well Westmount, u never notified us that u didn't have the ingredients, u surely didn't suggest that OR call around to other pharmacies to find the ingredient you needed. The last straw was yesterday. Dad notified me he was getting low on his hydro morpheine and didn't think he would have enough to last the long weekend. I had the on call doctor at Princess Margaret send a script to Westmount. I picked it up at 5:00 yesterday. That evening dad sent me a photo of his old bottle and the new bottle and noticed they were different. Westmount had given him Morphine instead of Hydromorphene. 2 completely different controlled substances. Westmount was now closed so I called first thing this morning. The guy I spoke with said it was the pharmacists fault. Usually controlled substances are double, if not triple checked and signed off on. Well now I'm PISSED. Now I am coming for you Westmount. How does this even happen?? I realize it's still morphine but if it hadn't been caught, dad would have been suffering in pain not understanding why!! You fucked up. A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE! I have lost all faith in your capabilities to competently do your job. Whoever filled this prescription shouldn't even have a job as far as I'm concerned. I gave you multiple chances to do better but Enough's enough. Get your shit together. I now question whether any of the liquids going into any of the bottles coming from behinds your counter are even what you say they are. When they dropped off dad's 'fixed' script today at his house the driver asked dad for the bottle he had been given yesterday. I surely hope you don't plan on reusing or reselling a bottle of morphine that had been sold to another patient and been sent out of your pharmacy Westmount. But at this point, I suspect that's exactly what you will do. I surely hope for all the other sick people, your patrons, that come into your pharmacy, you do better in the future as people's lives and wellbeing are IN YOUR HANDS! To the general public, do yourself a favour and DO NOT use Westmount Phamracy in Peterborough.
