I will say the concept of a queer karaoke bar seems like a lot of fun, the issue is that the only ones allowed to sing are the staff, and the songs that sing are only show tunes...after a while that can become listen to nails on a chalk board. Now I don't expect a bar like that to have amazing food but definitely go eat before coming here. In my experience the staff was super friendly, we all had kind interactions. My wife and I came in for drag bingo(which was awesome!!), managed to grab the one table front and center, with about 8 other couples/tables around us. Server came past, said he'd be right with us. Never saw him. 20 minutes in my wife gets us some water and drinks at the bar. 15 minutes later, still haven't seen him, so I went to the bar to get some food. Apparently, that was the wrong move. The bartender seemed VERY upset I was there to order food, and I remarked that we had waited 35 minutes, no one had stopped by, so I came up to quickly order 2 burritos. He flew off the handle, told me it wasn't ok to say that, there were only 3 of them there, blah blah, on and on. I assured him I wasn't complaining or criticizing, I was simply explaining why I was there because he seemed upset. Finally ordered 2 burritos and an order of pretzel bites(took 10 seconds once he stopped flipping out). Order came out wrong, but whatever. Finally, after being there front and center for 1 hour and 50 minutes, someone stopped by to clear all the cups, plates, cans and cups we had piled on an empty chair next to us. It actually coincided with another server cutting bingo short because "time was up". BTW, bingo started 35 minutes late. Staff is rude, staffing is apparently a problem, people walk around with baggage/attitudes/problems, service is nonexistent, and you'd better just take it or the bartender will have an aneurysm. After reading some of the other reviews, this seems par for the course. read more

Love the vibe here. Great art of LGBTQ+ icons and advocates. Really fun spot with live music by staff. I am impressed that they are so diligent with checking ID. They are clear on expectations. If you don't have a reservation they still let you in and inform you of how long you can stay. It's a great way to still be inclusive while respecting the reservations already made for an event. Drinks are a bit too sweet for my taste but good. It's pretty busy so be sure to order several drinks to mitigate the wait between drink orders. Bathrooms are very clean. Icons does an incredible job of creating a welcoming, friendly, fun environment. The impeccable service, elaborate decor, and whimsical menu are on point and lend to the overall good vibes that can be felt here. I was part of a fairly large group seated on the back patio, and throughout the course of the night we had 3 different servers. All of them were delightful, personable, and hospitable. They checked on us often even though the inside was increasingly busy, and we came to find that the servers were also hopping on stage to sing ballads with remarkable prowess in between serving us drinks. Talk about multi-tasking! Another great aspect of Icons was the food and drink menu. I was thrilled to see that their stacked specialty hot dogs were available in the vegan variety. I really enjoyed my vegan West Hollywood--a hot dog covered in guacamole, crispy onions, and balsamic. The cocktail menu was also super fun. I ordered the "Bette Muddler" old fashioned and the "Hudson, on the Roc". Both were really tasty and well-crafted. We made great friends here and really appreciated the vibrant atmosphere. WOW....we liked the old location and the new ICONS is awesome. The detail in the bar is amazing and the addition of the garage door that opens to the outside is a nice touch. The prices for the drinks are great considering the portions size and quality of the drinks. I had their version of a Moscow mule. The taste was great and the drink was refreshing. Even though this is a bar, keep in mind that there is a hostesses at the door. The bar is small. Be ready to share your table and make new friends, or arrive early. Specially if you don't want to wait on a table. But the wait is definitely worth it! The vibe at this place is great. All of the bartenders/waiters are incredibly attentive and talented. I'd like to say it's the best gay bar in Colorado Springs. It's not. It's one of BEST gay bars in the COUNTRY. I've been in bars since '77 from Seattle to Key West, New York to San Diego. Icons is not among the best: it's absolutely top shelf. Zach (besides being stunningly sexy and the nicest dude on the planet) is a GREAT bartender. His old fashioneds are the standard for the best. The staff? The owners are the nicest guys in the world. The staff (Zach included) and Gina and all of them: top shelf. I can't recommend this place enough. I don't have enough superlatives.
