I once left Kickingbird thinking I was one of the few men who (spoiler alert) survived the evacuation of Dunkirk! Yes, I have spent many a date night at this theater. While my wife may have been simply watching the movie, I was consistently losing myself in the thundering sound and beautiful screen quality. I have been an integral part in (spoiler alert) getting me and my friends out of a video game, (spoiler alert) stealing plans for how the rebels can blow up the Death Star, (spoiler alert) helped an astronaut return home from Mars, (spoiler alert) aided an air marshal in thwarting a couple terrorists, and (spoiler alert) did some racing/stealing/fighting/general bad guy stopping with a crew of street racers who have the uncanny ability to do so much more than just race. The popcorn situation at Kickingbird is exactly as you may have hoped. Overflowing like the (spoiler alert) Titanic once it hit that iceberg. They also butter the popcorn more heavily than a (spoiler alert) genetically altered Indominus Rex being eaten by a gigantic Mosasaurus. They do everything they can to roll out the red carpet for you at this cinema. I have even gotten treated to a private movie theater that made me feel like a true (spoilers) super powered king of a fictional country with futuristic technology that has to fend of old foes that I never realize existed but actually my dad knew about it the whole time but didn't say anything, leaving me to bring the kingdom back together after getting thrown off a waterfall...where was I going with this...Oh right being in a movie theater with no one else there is awesome and this place is too! There is no way you can sit there for 2 hrs and enjoy yourself. The seats are so tight and close it's like your in the other persons lap. Luckily it wasn't sold out and I was able to move back one row and my wife moved over into mine. Then it was comfortable. Will think abt this the nxt time there is a show there. They have several musical stages set up on each end with local talent. I will say neither end stage had great entertainment while we were there but it was a place to sit in the shade. All kinds of food and drink vendor booths as well as many talented artists. Photography, pottery, painting, mixed media and just about anything you might be interested in. Prices are what you would see at most art feats. Lots of people with dogs which is fine except the concrete and blacktop sure gets hot for them. It is really a nice fest.

She loves miniature golf, so I was going to take her to try out the mini golf at Brickopolis. Unfortunately, they were closed when their hours said open. I called them and was told they closed early due to it being so slow that evening. I told them we were really looking forward to mini golf. The manager said give me a second and I'll come out there. They went ahead and let us play and didn't charge us. They also waited until we were done to close up. Customer service and satisfaction here is definitely taken seriously. They were so nice to accommodate us considering they had already closed. The course is a really fun course that is located right next to the Bricktown Canal. They also have a building on the other side of the canal with arcade games and laser tag. This is a fun spot if your looking for some fun activities to do in Bricktown, and they will make sure that you're taken care of!

People were dancing all night. The food could have been better (for sure). They had meatballs, pulled chicken sliders, cauliflower, cucumbers, carrots, hummus, spicy pimento cheese and deviled eggs. I've been to a several other film…read morefestivals around the country, and dCFF is my favorite, and not just because it is in my hometown. The programming committee does a great job developing a wonderful selection of films, which are then well-organized. You can build your schedule online, and add that directly to the calendar you already use (GCal, Outlook, etc). The films include a wide selection of films by Oklahomans (I think this year there were 27), as well as thought-provoking documentaries, funny narrative features, and a very rich and varied shorts program. This year there were ninety films across five theaters. There are many opportunities to network with filmmakers from all across the country, visiting panelists, and your fellow local film buffs. The parties are legendary - every night of the festival there are at least two fun parties to attend and enjoy. All-access badges are $125, but it's not hard to earn a badge by becoming a volunteer. There are volunteer opportunities throughout the year. There is also a 2-for-1 badge deal when you buy a CityCard, which pays for itself just with the dCFF discount, though there are many other great cultural opportunities within that. Check out Allied Arts for more info on that. There are also a few opportunities to engage in deadCENTER without buying a badge. My biggest beef with Frankie's is that they still allow smoking in doors. I'm disappointed that they chose not to use that and allow smoking indoors both subjecting their employees and customers to harmful second hand smoke.

I really appreciated that he answered the phone for me when I called earlier in the evening to find out if they served food. Frankie's does not serve their own food, but there is a taco truck on the premises that delivers inside. The locals were welcoming and the other travelers were just as kind. We were lucky enough to come the night of a particularly spectacular drag show. Frankie's drag shows are free admission, but don't forget to tip the Queens! The drinks were well worth the price and the shots were served in cups. We plan to come back next time we pass through and hope to see some of the same faces.

We spent about three hours exploring Mix-Tape and still felt like we could have discovered even more. Every room is filled with hidden details, secret passageways, interactive elements, music, lights, and artwork that constantly encourages you to slow down and look a little closer. The experience is whimsical, nostalgic, and surprisingly thought-provoking all at the same time. One of the things I appreciated most was learning about the mission behind Factory Obscura. The exhibit isn't just beautiful--it was created by local artists who are supported for their work. Knowing that the installation continues to evolve with contributions from more than 100 artists made me appreciate every room even more. As a travel photographer, I loved photographing the exhibit. Every corner offered a completely different color palette, texture, or composition. The special diffraction glasses they provide make the lighting even more magical, so don't skip using them while you explore. My advice? Wear comfortable shoes, plan for at least 2-3 hours, and don't rush through it. Open every drawer, look through every little window, touch everything you're allowed to touch, and if you're able, crawl through the hidden passages--you'll discover details most people walk right past. Whether you're traveling with kids, visiting as a couple, hanging out with friends, or exploring solo, Factory Obscura is one of the most creative and memorable attractions we've experienced. It's colorful, imaginative, and unlike anything else in Oklahoma City. We left inspired and would absolutely visit again the next time we're in town.
