The atmosphere alone makes this a standout with the Italian music and barrel room making you feel like you are overseas. The owner is super friendly and will have a good conversation with anyone that wants one, and when it wasn't during covid, they use to have chocolate snacks that really went well with the wine. The wine itself is amazing as well and I can't think of one I didn't like. It is located away from the two main districts (wear house and Hollywood), so you might miss it if you don't go intentionally but it is absolutely worth it. read more

Amazing reds! For all those who prefer red wines over whites, Icon Cellars is a tasting room to check out in Woodinville! We visited Icon Cellars, as we learned that it was one of the wineries that opened in phase 1.5 and was also on our Woodinville Wine Passport. I read that Icon Cellars takes reservations, so was able to call in and make a reservation for the late afternoon for my boyfriend and me. Located in the north industrial area of Woodinville, it's one of the wineries in the plaza, right on the corner. The A-frame sign on the street helped us find it. We wanted to sit outside since we had our dog with us, and there were two chairs already set up right outside the room. After we checked in with the owner, Jim, we each did a tasting. We started with a rose and then had four reds. All of the wines were awesome! The reds were full-bodied and bold, which is how I like my wine. And Jim gave generous pours, so we were definitely feeling it midway! Of all the reds we had, we bought a bottle of the dolce tempo, which is a mix of an Italian varietal and tempranillo. You get a lot of the peppery punch from the dolce, but a smooth, fruit-forward taste from the tempranillo. It was very unique in reds I've had before; it's definitely a must. The tasting room has a few tables inside, in addition to the two outdoor chairs set up. In fact, the patio chairs are very nice to sit in because on the arm rests is a hole that holds up your wine glass! Genius. As mentioned, dogs are allowed and you can bring your own food. Parking is easy to find, with the shared lot out front along with the other businesses in the plaza. Glad to have checked out Icon Cellars for their bold reds! read more

This is one of our favorite cellars in the warehouse district. Generally, I like white wines more, and when it comes to reds, I am super picky. Icon makes smooth, well balanced reds and whites. We especially love their Dupape! I was surprised how much I actually like it. We bought two bottles home and will be back for more! We also enjoy chatting with the friendly and knowledgeable cellar master and the owner. They are very passionate about what they do and definitely know what they are doing! Icon was our first stop for the 2018 wine passport. I think other wineries will have a tough act to follow. read more

Man that helped us with our wine tasting was very rude. Please practice better professionalism.

The owner/wine maker was maskless the entire time. We asked his son in law who was working there, to ask him to put his mask on but he refused. The son in law has reminded him multiple times. He asked us as we left and said "are you vaccinated?" Then made sure we got charged for our tasting fee. Of course we are we are vaccinated we work in health care, just wanted a nice weekend away. I would not recommend this spot. The son in law was great but the owner and wine maker was resistant to following WA state rules. Get on board or get out of business. Do not recommend this, if he followed regulations we would've bought wine. But when he questioned us, hell no. Wear your damn mask. It's still a pandemic. read more

It's rare that I've done a wine tasting (2 whites, 2 reds) and LOVED all 4 of them. Especially whites, as I'm not a big white wine fan. They were all so great and complex. The owner was there serving us the whole time and did a great job at answering any questions we had. Also, I will say he is SO patient! One of our guests was being high maintenance and he handled her so well. Lol. We all bought a bottle or two after the tasting because they were great. read more

Icon was awesome! They are dog friendly and located in a small area with tons of wineries and a lovely view of the surrounding area. I went here because I had a Groupon, and it was an amazing deal for a tasting. Went late in the afternoon on Saturday and it was really crowded. Would be an amazing venue to rent out for a party of 10-20. We had some trouble finding a spot but were able to grab a small table once another couple left. Staff was lovely. They brought out water for my pup and were interested in our opinions on the wine. They were the perfect balance of informative and friendly without being too invasive in our experience. Parking was tough, so I recommend Uber of another ride service. Elegant decor, and the tasting room was a little dark overall. Lovely wine barrels repurposed into tables and wall art. The wine itself was lovely, and the tasting had only one white wine-if that's your thing. Excited to explore this area more and purchase another Groupon in the future. read more

We stopped here after being rejected by Covington (see my review there) and found the experience to be exactly what we want from a winery - a down to earth, friendly establishment that just wants to make your day a bit better than when you entered. The attendant was overwhelmed - one guy servicing about 30 patrons - yet never for a second lost his smile or desire to help us enjoy our afternoon. Decided to check out Icon cellars first from the list of wineries on the Passport. The tasting room is authentic and makes you feel like you're in a real winery, with all the barrels around. Jim, the winemaker is a fantastic guy who is down to earth and passionate about wine. He made the tasting experience special, even doing a barrel tasting for the last pour. The petite syrah is fantastic! The only thing I will say is that it is a bit chilly, so make sure you bring a jacket to keep you warm. Will definitely be coming back! read more

This place is popular! The music and the candles make for a great ambiance! And after tasting the wines, I can see why it was packed! I had the chance to come in on a Saturday where the winemaker was present and pouring! He has a most interesting take on what most call a GSM aka Du Pape and he also has a Tempranillo blend with Monastrell and Grenache aka the Flamenco and a 2013 rattlesnake Hills Malbec that will change the way you see WA Malbecs. We were fortunate enough to get a preview of the 2016 Malbec (also from rattlesnake Hills AVA in Columbia Valley) and let me tell you that is one to look forward to! It is expected to be released in September and I will definitely be back for it! read more

We had a great time at Icon. The wine was incredible. Jim, the wine maker/owner was pouring, he was awesome! It is always fun having the wine maker there. It provides a more personal experience than the larger wineries. The space was great. There was a covered outdoor space with heat. It was my birthday and Jim made sure it was super special. We all agreed that it was our favorite by far. I will be sure to stop by whenever I am out in Woodinville. After completing 95% of the "Woodinville Wine Passport" program this year, this gem of a winery was EASILY my husband's and my favorite!!! The atmosphere is magical (dim lighting, candlelight and lovely music to match the mood surrounded by wine barrels full of actively-ageing wine) and the winemaker is there himself to pour and talk about his wine. He has an incredible passion and cares a lot about your experience. And the wines BLEW US AWAY! So rich, complex, luxurious, bold yet smooth! If you are into Cab Sauv, Tempranillo, Malbec, GSM, Merlot and Super Tuscan styles you need to check this place out! Plus the wines were INCREDIBLY reasonably priced, especially after experiencing mediocre wines being sold for $40, $50, $60 elsewhere. They were so delicious we had to take home a few bottles and we plan on becoming wine members here for sure! read more

Icon is in a very elegant space a bit off the beaten path just south of the Hollywood School District, and they share tasting digs with another winery and a meadery (let's hope that's a word). The space was comfortable and our hostess was very helpful and gracious, but the wines left me and the partner a bit cold. Here's the rundown: We started with Le Charmeur, a 2013 Chard. The wine was a little cloudy but smelled clean with a medium complex and appealing nose of apple and dried stone fruit. Disappointingly, a lot of fruit was missing from the palate that was heavy on the mineral end of the spectrum and left me craving some of the flavors I was smelling. Next came a 2014 Rosé ("Le Rosé" so no points for creative naming) made from Cab Franc, Syrah and Grenache. A little fizzy in the glass and on the tongue this wine smelled of strawberry and watermelon and was very dry and reasonably tart with a lot of rhubarb on the palate. This was a solid, drinkable dry Rosé. On the red front, the next two wines were the 2013 du Pape (a Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre blend) and the Flamenco (Tempranillo/Cab Sauv/Merlot). Desptie being made from completely different blends of grapes both of these wines managed to have similar noses that were all about cooked fruit and hard candy. The aromas on both of these wines had an overripe fruit quality that I found off putting. On the palate the du Pape showed red berries as well as a lot of tannin, tartness and alcohol. The Flamenco was the easier drinking of the two with blackberry on the palate and better balance between the alcohol and the tannins. The final wine, a 2013 Malbec just called "Malbec," was a pleasant surprise (clever names seem to carry some sort curse around this winery). A bright, purple wine that smelled of (fresh not cooked) blackberries and chocolate with similar notes on the tongue along with some fresh herbs, it was well balanced and easy to drink. Bottom line: I struggled between a 2 or 3 star rating and went with the 2 because I just couldn't get past my disappointment with the red blends and the Chard. The Rosé and the Malbec had some things going for them but not enough to redeem their cellar mates (at least not very far). This is a young winery, so here's to hoping that the trend in the future will be in favor of the Malbec and the pink wine, so I'd still encourage people to come by and check out how they're evolving. read more
