I also made it very clear that I was only looking for ideas and I'd need to bring my engagement ring in to see what would match with it. And if I decided to buy, I would come back at a later time. He was desperate for me to buy any ring, even if I didn't like it. He kept pushing me very aggressively and rudely. His responses to me throughout the visit.... "Who cares [about wanting to bring my engagement ring in], just buy this ring", "you should just get this one right now", "just get this one", "can you go get your other ring right now?", "how far do you live, go get your ring", "when can you come back?", "tomorrow? Monday? Tuesday?".... and more. It was an awful experience. I spent my money elsewhere, where I was treated with respect and not forced to buy something I didn't want. Very shady business practices.

Because of this I'm not buying from this place anymore and I'd advise everyone to be careful when it comes to their return policy because apparently it varies depending on who you're talking to. Sure enough, after moving to to this area I managed to find all the wrong doctors, the wrong auto mechanics, the wrong veterinarian and even the wrong vacuum repair shop! One of the things I was unprepared for, having moved from the OC area prior to the pandemic, was how expensive any/all jewelry repairs are in the AV. After having some work done about a year ago at a shop that charged me the entire value of an antique ring to re-tip the prongs and resize the band, I had resigned myself to the fact that I would have to drive back to Orange County to avoid being completely ripped off. The way I ended up stumbling across European Watch and Jewelry Service is that i had stopped into three AV-area jewelers to inquire about sizing a hinged bracelet. I was incorrectly advised at a shop in Quartz Hill owned by a couple with more than 40 years in the trade that the bracelet was not sizeable because it was hollow and another place suggested I cut the bottom half off and convert it to a bolo bracelet. European Watch and Jewelry Service was my third stop. Unlike the others, Stefan correctly identified that the construction was solid (could be resized) and that the stones were prong set (wouldn't fall out). Sizing a bracelet, unlike sizing a ring, is nevertheless an uncommon repair. So the fact that this shop could resize the bracelet where others said it was impossible speaks to a level of experience not commonly found in the AV. Stefan is a European-trained jeweler, who has now serviced about five watches my spouse and I own from modern (quartz) to vintage (mechanical). The prices were within reason, which allowed me to bring in still more items that need work. In addition to service/repair, there is a selection of fine jewelry and watches. I believe in supporting local businesses. After years of letting broken pieces gather dust because I didn't have an area jeweler or watch repairman, I am finally able to enjoy them again. I couldn't be happier to have at long last found "my jeweler" in the AV!

The other one was my wedding ring which the center diamond needed to be tightened (Still working thank Goodness, a bit lose but hanging there). Last item was a necklace which had a broken clasp. I am allergic to anything but gold and before they repaired it i made sure to ask if they were replacing it with another gold one. They said yes and charged me for a gold clasp. I started noticing my neck breaking out and turning black, took off my necklace and the clasp is completely black! They lied to me about the metal, they charged me for gold and everything so far has been unable to use. I definitely don't trust them anymore!
