Just like the other Tesco I shopped last month, this store is massively huge with a major selection of produce (two aisles!), cheese, meats, and then dry goods. I'm almost glad I don't have a car, because my carrying capacity limited my spending budget here. The store also has a little snack restaurant, though I thought it had a pretty good selection for a cafeteria style deal. Great hours, it's open from Monday at 06:00 until Saturday at 22:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. (Aside from the bus issue.) There's a petrol station in the parking area and a "freephone" near the tills for calling a taxi.

Items for sale can sometimes be a little hit-or-miss depending on what they were able to purchase, but the usual basics are usually in stock. There typically isn't more than one brand of any item, but the quality is decent. Produce is varied and the frozen section is good. Dairy is also limited, but there is a reasonable choice in the booze and personal care areas. Service is minimal - other than a few shelf-stockers and one or two checkout staffers, there's no one there. The location is right next to the Reading West Station, on Oxford Road. As with some other stores, do have your £1 coin to deposit for a trolley ("cart" or "wagon" in American) though the hand-carry baskets are available. Two warnings. Bags are NOT free here - you either bring your own or you purchase them as you pack. They do NOT accept credit cards or checks. It's cash or debit card only. Yes, I would return. However the downside is that there may be things on my shopping list that aren't on offer, so I might end up in Tesco or Sainsbury's instead.

It's got a huge range of items, although no adult clothing (other than underwear) or much in the way of electronics/media/toys, unlike even bigger stores. For groceries, though, it's got a lot to offer. Fruit and veg are of good quality and usually well-stocked. The deli and fresh fish counters offer a lot of choice, and they even have a large 'Polish food' section. They have two 'car trolleys' which amuse small (and big) kids greatly, and make the shopping trip easier with children who are too big for the trolley seats but too small to walk all the way around without whining. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who stopped to offer help, in the end a lovely young man from Latvia came and helped me. He pulled out this huge screw/ bolt from the tyre then repaired it with something magic that looked like a rubber plug. I don't know his name, he said he lived in new Milton and he had a blue car. He really was a saviour to me. I was so amazed that so many kind people came to my aid and offered help. with all the bad things happening in this world today, all the people who stopped were just kind and wonderfu, I'm glad I live in this great country.

Lots of parking spaces although quite hard to navigate in the car park. It also has a few cash points, a car wash and a petrol station. This Sainsbury's also has a cafe area, a hot food counter, electrical and clothes areas. It is a very large store and takes quite a while to look around, although it is laid out really well. There is a dedicated desk in the clothes and electrical area that can help you with any stock that isn't out on display. It has a large fruit and veg section as well as a bakery but the frozen food isle are not that big. Good place to do your weekly shop as you have a marks and Spencer next door and the petrol is always at a reasonable price compared to other stations. Staff are also helpful and friendly.

Think the store also has a chemist in it too which is handy for prescriptions whilst you are shopping. The shelves are well stacked most of the time and the floor is always clean. Good selection and availability of products . Staff are well presented and are friendly. They also seem to know where most products are if you cant find anything unlike quite a few supermarkets where they don't actually know where products are. Overall good store.

I have taken pictures of the sugar selection alone to send to friends back home in the US. Check-out staff are very pleasant. Only downside is that floor staff think nothing of blocking aisles with restocking carts, chatting while they work (slowly), and simply walking in front of you -- especially if you back off slightly to avoid gridlock with other clients. This makes getting through the store difficult -- and getting what you want off the (blocked) shelves harder, contributing greatly to the frustration factor in an already crowded store.

The produce is of consistently good quality and, although not the largest supermarket around, there is sufficient there to do a weekly shop - assuming your pockets are deep enough. Prices have remained consistent following the opening of Sainsbury a few doors up, though the evening opening hours always manage to confound me. All the staff are friendly, helpful and posess congnitive functions. There is a decent sized car-park and you can get your pay-and-display back if you spend over a tenner - not hard to do in Waitrose.

Windsor had been crying out for a new supermarket. Somewhere that stocked more than a few gourmet…read moresandwiches, tinned olives and ice-cream. Somewhere central so you didn't have to get in your car everytime you needed a loaf of bread or some oranges. So congratulations to Waitrose for meeting that need. It took Waitrose a while to settle into their market. For a while, they tried to be more like a deli, with little discounting and not many customers doing a weekly shop. Either the credit crunch or a sensible reappraisal led them to introduce price commitments and reductions. While not there yet, I am sure what all local residents really want is Waitrose quality at Tesco prices, and if that's how we keep buying maybe Waitrose will start to provide.

Also loved that this store really gives back to the communities, listing its 3 local charitable groups that it provides funds to, and encourages shoppers to do so as well.
