Iceland's really not very exciting as a supermarket, perhaps mainly because it sells so many frozen things that you can't munch on on the way home, then forget about as they lie in your freezer for ages.
Still, their prices are cheap, which is always welcome in Oxford, they do lots of 3 for 2 and buy one get one free deals, and the staff are usually friendly, if a little on the slow side.
I've had their pasta salads for lunch a few times - you can get a really good triple pack of different flavours, which is great for indecisive people like me. They taste okay, if a bit bland, and the size is great. Another surprise is that they do really good cheap sweets: own brand and sometimes other brands.
Great to pop into for frozen goods or for a cheap lunch snack, but not ideal for your weekly shop. read more
