The employees at the rink were so helpful on getting him the right ice skates, giving pointers for lacing and some great tidbits on getting him used to being on ice skates. The skate rentals are the best I've ever seen and ended up being better than the hand me down hockey ice skates I brought for him. After some help from Jeff, my son went from wanting to go home to asking when we can come back for more ice skating. And he has been talking about ice skating every day since we went last week. They do a great job with covid safety and currently the number of skaters is reduced. I highly recommend coming here for public skating, especially on a weekday. I can't wait to get my kids enrolled in skating lessons here.

The old chairs(tilting and broke), bathroom, and skates looked to be from the 80s. I guess the rink was closed, and it sat, and someone brought it and opened it with everything from back in the 80s!! There's security at the door, and they frisk you down! Look in bags and even went through the party food. The staff was nice and the woman who tended to the party was very nice and accommodating. If you have a party you can't bring in burgers and chicken because they sell that. When I put on the 80s style skates, I didn't feel comfortable because they were wobbly! Some people who I was with were skaters and refused to put the old skates on. Some people brought their skates. B.Y.O.S. the floor was warped in some places. The rink makes you sign a waiver before giving you a party band. Someone in our group was run over by the speed skaters and was hurt very badly. They announced that the slower skaters should skate in the middle. However, we couldn't get out there because of the speed skaters!! It was very scary trying to get to the center on the floor!!! Most people just stayed on the side all evening. Overall, I was disappointed at the condition of the skate rink but enjoyed the time with the people who came for the party.

Home to the oldest ice skating club in the US, this is a single sheet of ice, dedicated to figure…read moreskating. No hockey here - no lines drawn or boards to protect the spectators. Interesting to step on/off from almost any place, watch your step and heard of at least one skater missing the side and crashing (the ice closest to the edge is sloped down, so can't get too close). It's old and classic, I think is the term. Skylights over the ice, men and girls/women's locker rooms. The bathroom is.. let's say old. The fixtures updated but could use some air freshener. Ice is brown, old and layered. Small food stall, and free wifi w/ password. They held the last NQS 2022 competition for regionals Sep 21-24 this year, and due to the overwhelming interest, they had to move all intermediate level skaters to Delaware, which left some pretty terrible schedules for the coach. A single sheet also meant practice ice was ungodly early (6:30a for us skating after 12pm), so that was disappointing. They did, however, leave plenty of time for ice cuts and everything wrapped early, leaving all the times accurate for start times. And the guy on the Zamboni (quite possibly the newest thing there other than a nice ballet room), was very good - slow, plenty of water, and had a person out there filling in holes in the ice. That was done more properly than most rinks I've seen at competitions where the ice gets rather holey. Hopefully they'll be better prepared next year for competition. No medal ceremonies, they wait on the final score sheet and hand out the medals. No podium for photos. Nothing fancy here, just classic, no credentials, no charge for spectators, either, which was nice.

Ice well kept and maintained. They offer 5$ and 10$ public adult sessions as well as ice skating public group lessons. Pretty affordable! Their group lessons are super fun and the coaches for both group and private lessons are very knowledgeable. They also have a list of coaches on their website if you are interested in private lessons. I skate her doing public group lessons as well as weekly private coaches lessons. The front desk said it was a liability and they didn't allow them, so my son was crushed that he wouldn't be able to skate. We paid, padded him up with a helmet, elbow pads, and padded hockey shorts. While we were putting on his skates, an older woman came over and told us that hockey gear is NOT ALLOWED to be worn on the ice for public skating!!!!!! So, if your child is learning to skate DON'T GO HERE! What a waste of money and incredibly unfriendly, UNhelpful people!!
