The oddest thing about this place is that there aren't more places like it in Rincon. You would think that hot weather year-round, plus a large crowd of visiting surfers, would create a high demand for ice cream and related products. But Ice Chill and Grill opened only a few months ago, and it was the only thing like it that we found.
This is apparently the Puerto Rico branch of a Philadelphia institution. You can get three scoops of flavored ice (essentially sorbet, although I'm sure that Philadelphians will insist on crucial differences) for $1.50, and there are a lot of yummy flavors. (I liked lemon, mango, passion fruit, strawberry banana, and "Island"-- a mix of several fruity flavors along with some coconut milk).
That is really all you need to know about this place, although I will add that a large television plays strange documentaries about surfing, and that they also serve sandwiches, panini, etc. (although they will apparently be shutting that down during slow seasons). If I were spending a while in Rincon I would probably come here for some ice almost every afternoon-- or at least every afternoon I was willing to get in the car and scramble to downtown Rincon. read more
