Dr. Anthony Thomas is an extraordinarily knowledgeable, talented and gifted human being. He has been a huge part of my life today and I am indebted to him for all he has done for me. I am no longer in the field but am incredibly grateful and proud to say that I completed the program and will carry the knowledge and message to everyone that I meet struggling with addiction and substance use disorders. Thank you Dr. T - Love you always. Rosie

CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COURSE…read more Creating an environment of safety and growth. Dr. Anthony Thomas, our professor, I credit with creating an environment where the students are able to become the best versions of ourselves ... A lot of times, people (myself included) view school and think that we will be reading out of a book, we will receive a lecture, and the professor will be writing on the chalk board. Not saying this is wrong, but, this is what a lot of people correlate with education. When we are able to not only have conversations,, we are able to share our experiences in life ... with our experiences, we are able to let go of what was holding us back in the same place for so long, in order for us to help others ... I came to this school thinking I was studying to help someone else, little did I know, I was the one that was going to be helped tremendously. I am so grateful that I met with Angel (The Administrator) the day that I met with him. I was not only given what I wanted (education and real world experience) of how to help people who are wanting to get better and leave substances behind, I was given the gift of accepting MY ASSETS in order to be the BEST VERSION of myself where I can help others!

Drove…read morehere for fall physiology and found a great teacher, unlike those at LAVC that are just so difficult to work with. Loved the science building where the class was held; the library is nice, but the bookstore is extremely small and barely has anything. I'm used to big bookstores; this one is really small. The whole campus seems to be tightly packed, where all buildings are pretty much together, which is great if you don't want to walk far but also makes the campus look really small. This is odd because their football field, or soccer field, I'm not sure what it is, but is huge and looks like a bowl, like a mini version of the Rose Bowl. Looks like it holds thousands of people and can probably hold a small concert in there, maybe less than 8000? I don't know, but it seems pretty good in size, that's for sure. Overall the campus is nice for the size, and although I can't speak for admin or anything since I only spent 1 semester here, the staff I did encounter were kind. Will take another class here.

At first, I was hesitant to join Prestige and was unsure of the program, but I felt comfort in knowing that I was being supported in my studies. My friend in the class unfortunately had a situation with another student regarding race. After informing Mr. C, swift disciplinary action was taken, which demonstrated my instructors' zero tolerance stance on discrimination. I want to personally thank Mr. C and Ms. Celia for standing up to unfair prejudice against minorities. I truly cannot say enough about Ms. Celia! As our clinical instructor, she got to know each and every one of us personally and had so many 1:1 teaching moments that I have never experienced before. She truly cared about course material, but most importantly, she cared about us personally, beyond our education. After graduation, I set my standards high and applied to one singular position, confident in my skills from her teachings. I was offered the role with no prior CNA work experience, and my peers and superiors were surprised with my base knowledge from day one. I now work at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, one of the top hospitals in the country, and I wouldn't have been able to do so without the instruction from Ms. Celia. Thank you so much for everything and I will forever be grateful! That being said, Prestige's administration could use some work......

As a fellow yelper said it so well.. are we really going to rate USC on Yelp? LOL!!…read more I am delighted and thrilled to share I am now an alumna of USC. As a yelper here for over 13 years, I don't sugarcoat my words (or in my reviews), and I don't intend to do so here either. The USC program is rigorous and not for everyone. There were so many readings that I often genuinely wondered if it was even humanly possible to get through them all. Granted, I am a slow reader, and that certainly did not help. Beyond the beautiful campus and the prestige that comes with the school, more importantly know that there is no financial aid for tuition fees for master program. Education does not come cheap. Still I am grateful for the learning experience and for my many professors who were simply wonderful and amazing professionals. A big shout out to Dr. Julianna Kirschner, Professor Monica Koyama, Dr. Muthuswamy and Dr. Courtney Pade. P.S. I do wish I had been in the class of Dr. Bracero and Dr. Akira; I have heard so many amazing things about them.

I didn't attend this prestigious University; however, I joke that I am an honorary alumna. My brothers from another mother all graduated from here, and I attend Homecoming with them every year. In fact, I used to work with Eddie Tannenbaum who discovered Traveler (USC's Mascot) when he was a junior in 1961. The campus is beautiful and features several Romanesque Revival style buildings. A portion of the main campus was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The Coliseum is in walking distance. I've attended many football games here over the years and have seen Clay Matthews, Reggie Bush, Mark Sanchez, & Matt Leinart play. I remember the glory days of Pete Carroll. Our favorite tailgate party is the one hosted by LAMBDA. They have a great DJ, delicious food, a premium bar, fun activities and, of course, fabulous attendees! This year we were treated to yummy eats from Bludso's BBQ & tasty treats by Ice Cream Occasions. When the party was over, we all headed to the Coliseum for the match between the Trojans & the Huskies. Sadly, we lost this game but we will continue to Fight On!

Parking was $220 + Sales Tax during Fall/Spring semesters. Winter/Summer are a bit cheaper. As a business major, professors here in my experience weren't the best. Rarely you'll get a highly knowledgeable professor with legit experience in the field you're studying in. Some professors just make me wonder how in the world they get to teach in the first place. For example, we had an HR professor making us type 10 page essays every week with no substance to it. Overall: I did enjoy my experience here. I did what I can in those 2 years, 1 year being remote. Worked here as a SA. There's definitely a lot of improvements needed to be made. From school initiatives, in-house internships, old buildings that need to be replaced, library study room filled with mold, administration-student relationships etc. Students should be more engaging here and I just didn't get the vibe here in most classes. My recommendation if you're considering going here is to do as much research as you can and try your best to foster self-initiatives and join clubs or work on campus. Key Takeaways: - CSULA is a commuter school so expect many students to not being sociable or engaging. Many friends I've talked to who went here agreed on the same thing. - Lots of politics - CSULA is conveniently located by the I-710 and I-10 freeways. - Food Court consist of Fast Food (El Pollo Loco, Carl's Jr., Panda Express etc) (Not many food choices near by campus) - Old buildings. Some with mold on them or elevators not working. - WiFi Connection in Salazar Hall or King Hall may be weak for some.
