I agreed to wait. I said you might want to take down that no waiting for oil change sign. He replied it was above his pay grade. Geez. Exactly 90 min later I pay and go to leave but my air conditioner was making a humming sound. I go back in and the same guy comes out to listen. Says oh its probably debris in the interior cabin filter or fan blower, we looked at it and it did have debris in the filter. Just drive it around it will go away. WTF? I said oh no, get someone out here now. The filter is just 18 months old, if there were leaves shouldnt they have shaken it out? And it wasnt making noise when I brought it in. They drove it back into the bay, cleaned it out and returned it to me. The manager, a female, spoke to me apologizing. I hope she adresses these issues. Apparently they are under new ownership in the past 3 months. Then I get home and get a text with their recommendations. 1 was that the under carriage splash guard was missing screws. Recommended replacing. Again WTF? Could you have told me and we could have addressed it? Biggest concern is that the splash guard was newly replaced early 2025. The only service I have had was an oil change here in late 2025. Why wasnt it mentioned then? Did they not rescrew them all back after the service? My last oil change there was $79, today was $96. Frustated that I have to look for a new service garage now

If you're looking for an honest mechanic in New Orleans then Melvin is your guy. He took care of…read moremy and my husbands cars for the 5 years we lived in New Orleans. Wasn't the closest mechanic but we went out of our way to go to him. Super nice and a straight shooter on what your car needs or doesn't need. It's a small shop and they're always busy with cars already there from the day or days before, so they may not be able to get you in and out that day which is totally fair and understandable! Best to call or get there first thing in the AM and Melvin & Kurt will absolutely do their best to get you in as he can with the jobs they've already committed to. He runs the shop, works the cars AND also answers the phone, so don't be discouraged if it rings for a minute or you have to call back, he's only one guy! Only reason we left is because we moved out of state but I would recommend Melvin and his crew to anyone. Thank you Melvin!

When I picked it up, hold me about work that it would probably be good to have done in the future, but he didn't include it in the quote or the work because he knew it was a good chunk of change and was not a pressing issue (not as pressing as my original repair), preferring to tell me in person, which I very much appreciated. A friend mentioned going to Marks in MidCity. I called and a very friendly voice answered and I was instructed to drop my car off, due to my work schedule it was unfortunately after business hours, no problem for the shop. The very next day, before lunch I received a call stating my car was ready for pick up. I don't understand the mechanics of it all but needless to say the check engine light is OFF and my car is running smoothly without breaking the bank, thanks Mr. Mark!

I had let my car sit for three years since I use a company vehicle and Chuck's fixed my Mazda right up and I've been driving it for a week straight now and it runs fantastic! in over ten years in dealing with these mechanics they have always done great work, take pride in what they do, and their prices are fair and honest. There are certain businesses I have frequented that I immediately knew I would end up being a loyal…read morecustomer, and GT Automotive was one of them. Owner Greg Roberts and his talented technicians are a class act. Kudos for the fine folks at Automotive Diesel Service (Freddie & Tom) recommending them to me. Having been there multiple times now, I feel I can honestly give them the 5 star rating I feel they deserve. My first experience at GT Automotive was for a check engine light and malfunctioning fuel gauge on my wife's SUV. Unfortunately, the diagnosis wasn't what I wanted to hear, as the fuel level sensor and fuel pump were malfunctioning. And like most newer cars, the fuel pump is in the tank, which requires dropping the tank to replace the fuel pump. Anyway, they quoted me a very fair price, and got the job done the same day. My second experience was a few months later for the same SUV, as the check engine light came on again. Greg's diagnostic equipment was telling him it was the anti lock brakes. Luckily for me, he has a great rapport with a local Nissan dealer. At no extra charge to me, a factory Nissan technician visited his shop with a Nissan "scan tool" to provide a second opinion. It ended up being a loose connection to the anti lock brake "pump" and all they had to do was crimp the wire to secure it. I got an oil change while I was there and I was out the door in a few hours with a bill that was less than $100.00. Whew! My most recent trip was for a Royal Purple full synthetic oil change for my car. For all you gear-heads, Royal Purple oil costs over $8.00 per quart in a retail store. However, GT Automotive changed my oil with 8 quarts of Royal Purple oil and a Royal Purple oil filter for under $100.00; including labor. Furthermore, I asked him to inspect my brakes and change them if needed. Being the honest mechanics that they are, they advised me that my brakes had 40-50% pad life remaining and that I was good to go. Lastly, they didn't even charge me for the brake inspection. That's what I call looking out for your customers. GT Automotive uses top of the line parts, lubricants and fluids. They feature Royal Purple lubricants and fluids, Torco race fuels and VP non-ethanol small engine fuels. For your peace of mind, they issue a 12 month parts and labor guarantee on all of their work. I even got a follow up call after my service to make sure that I was satisfied. So whether you need an oil change, suspension work or your timing belt changed, GT Automotive can handle all you vehicle's needs. Ask for Greg and relax in knowing you have found a reliable, skilled and honest repair shop.
