Centrally located on a very quiet street only 1 block from shopping, a grocery store, and lots of great waffle and ice cream establishments I couldn't imagine a better place to place the hotel in Bruges. Beyond location the hotel was modern yet retained its classic elegance. The rooms were normal size and had comfortable beds, a well stocked mini bar, TV, and a very nice bathroom complete with custom Fragonard toiletries. The hotel staff was nice and was able to provide recommendations, assist in reserving a taxi, etc. They also staffed the bar - a small, Charlie Chaplain themed room (no one really appears to go there). I should also note that while I usually don't prefer hotel breakfasts, this hotel really puts out a wonderful buffet spread every morning. Eggs, sausage, and all the usual things you'd expect but what WOW-ed me was the nice selection of local cheeses and several tasty desserts (yes, it's ok to eat chocolate at 9:00 AM in Belgium), fresh squeezed orange juice, and even champagne (for free!). With all of those options (and yes, I ate them all daily) my favorite item was the cooked to perfection waffles (available upon request)... something I'll spend the rest of my life trying to replicate. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bruges!

Luckily they still had some rooms left, so she quickly wrung me up and I was on my way to my room. The room was a scrumptiously warm haven and all I wanted to do was fall into the fluffy king bed, but I resisted because I still had to eat, and let's be honest, hunger trumps sleepiness. I was very impressed with the modernity of the room. It had a button-controlled light system installed by the door, the desk, and the bed, with options for dim lighting, table lighting, or full lighting. It was also equipped with two outlets and USB ports, one by the desk and one by the bed. The bathroom was large and accessible - support beams surrounding the WC and a big shower with two wide doors. Not sure if they're all like that, but I was digging the big shower! It was also extremely quiet. Needless to say, I slept wonderfully and wish I could have stayed another night!

The hotel is right above the square, next to the performing arts venue, and it happened to be hosting a carnival while we were there. We immediately set off for the center of town, in search of all things cheesy tourist. It was a short walk, made along wide streets. Our room was brightly decorated in black and white, with modern bath. It overlooked the market, and though there was a carnival, the window and shades were sufficient for blocking the noise and lights, and the comfortable bed and linens helped for a good night's sleep. While the room was quite modern, the stairwells and common areas were older, though still well-cared for. The staff at check-in and check-out were quite helpful, selling us post card stamps, mailing post cards, and checking our luggage so that we could do more exploring. The hotel is also quite centrally located to the walking path around the city, which we enjoyed during our morning run. And it's less than a mile walk from the train station, so safe for us to walk even with our large American suitcases.

I booked two rooms for my family trip to Brugges. I typically am a Hilton or Marriott girl but they…read morehave neglected to sink their fangs into Brugges so I, reluctantly, deviated from my usual and this place seemed like a good choice. The location is pretty good, most of the stuff you want to do in the center of town is definitely within a short walk. The building itself has a lot of history, it used to be someone important's house, and this is reflected in the architecture of the structure. There is a large, winding staircase, literally the bottom of the bannister supports is a goose that appears to be being prepared to be pate. Whoever lived here and made that decision has interesting taste. Anyway, the "quirkiness" of the place doesn't end there. In order to get to our rooms with all of our luggage, we needed to take TWO very small elevators. Getting to our room was a bit of a maze and the route is carpeted so if you're an overpacker like I am, dragging the luggage can definitely be a challenge. Our rooms were both impressively large with very nice-sized bathrooms. One of our rooms had a decent view of the street, the other room had a view of a building's wall and a small alleyway aka no view whatsoever. They have a limit on how low you can turn the thermostat, I believe it is 21 degrees which to me, is a bit high. If you are sensitive to sleeping temperature, this may be an issue. I have never had a hotel dictate the temperature of my room before. Another problem is the wifi. In our room, the hotel wifi had a password. When I asked what the password was, the they told me there was no password but there was on my end and I was unable to connect. When I was close enough to the lobby, the password requirement disappeared and I was able to connect to the wifi and as long as it stayed connected, I was ok in the room. The minute my device disconnected for some reason, I had to put on my pants and slippers and walk out of the room close enough to the lobby for the wifi to connect to that again. This was, as you can imagine, annoying. The biggest problem for me was the bed. It was not comfortable. It was much firmer than I like and than what I think is normal. When I scooched to the middle to cuddle my partner, I noticed a GIGANTIC hill in the mattress in the middle, as if we were both sleeping in sags of the bed that had been left from the many other guests. It's time to change the mattress, Hotel Navarra. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was quiet, we did not hear anything except for the few times other guests would walk in the hallway in front of our room or there was noise in our alley facing the windows.

The box quantity was so plentiful - we ended up purchasing this brand as gifts for family! Breakfast included a hot breakfast of eggs, breakfast meats, wafffles with wonderful toppings (nutella, jams, assorted flavored morsels, yogurts, wonderful breads, pastries, juices, and a self-serve coffee machine with many flavorful options. Location is a 12-15 minute walk to/from the train station - take the park path to avoid rolling luggage over so many pavers. Access to the main plaza and tower is a 12-15 minute walk with busy shopping streets all along the way. We felt very safe our entire time in Bruges. There are restaurants on the plaza. Beware of surprise requests after the meal to pay with cash instead of credit. A waiter at nearby De Hanze surprised us by insisting on cash instead of Visa, including calling me away from the table into the bar area. I gave some and charged the rest, but realized after that this was a hustle. In hindsight I regret not getting angry at the table and calling the waiter out in front of others. Infuriating. It's too bad, because the food was excellent. A favorite restaurant was La Gondola, Oude Burg 22, 8000 Bruges, Belgium. It was nothing from the street, but it was a pleasant dining room inside with wonderful service and a plentiful meal.

The only thing that mildly grossed me out was a piece of hair I saw in the drain. But that was nothing.

The location is about a block from the Belfort in the central market. So many different places to eat and shop within a few blocks! I cannot recommend this place enough. I can't wait to go back and stay here again.
