This is a pretty good hotel, that is, if you can find something to do in Rueil. The hotel rooms are…read morelarge and are spread out across multiple buildings. The building I was put up in had the window opening to the Seine. The restaurant in site is somewhat ok, specially for vegetarians. There is one vegetarian entree, but it is a very small portion size even by French standards. I could eat 3 of those and still be hungry. Never tried the pool or the spa, so no comments on those amenities.

We had an awful experience with Relais de la Malmaison. We…read morehad to cancel our reservation last minute (due to Covid contact). Apparently, it didn't work as we were debited. We first contacted the hotel by email, but as the dialogue was not successful, we called. In the begining, the lady told us she will ask her superior and call us back, which she did not do. So we called back several times, she finally told us that nothing can be done to compensate the inconveniences. Yet, we offered to get a credit note and be committed to buy other services. This offer would have been good for both of us, as we could have been able to still enjoy a stay at the hotel and for them it could have been the occasion to get a support in those hard times as we would have spent more money as planned. But this person didn't want to hear anything so we asked to speak to the hotel management. They were not available at that time so they proposed to call us back. Again, broken promises... So we called back and finally succeeded in having the hotel management. The lady was so rude and unpleasant that she hang up on us telling that she can't do anything for us, and if we were not happy, it was the same for them, they absolutely didn't care ! What a nice state of mind for a 4* hotel... !! To sum up, after many calls and emails, they offer no solutions, their attitude was not professional and dishonest : too bad for us, good for them, they can keep the money for a service they have not honoured ! Given the fact that they are rude with their clients, and are obviously only interested in their money, we can't even imagine how the other services would have been... So we want to warn you about this hotel if you want to avoid such an awfull experience !

Breakfast (included) was basic. Rooms were small, but sufficient. Bathroom recently decorated, and using reasonable quality materials. Windows onto the street included secondary double glazing so reasonably quiet. WiFi was free, however not fast, and I couldn't get VPN to connect.

Reception was friendly, parking in the garage is 11 Euro per day if you take the car. Around the hotel there is only paid parking. No problem when we asked for extra coffee in the room. A/C blows nice and cold in Summer. Wifi is free with a code you get upon arrival. There are downsides to this place as well: When we arrived there was piss in the toilet. We thought just to flush and get it dealt with. However the smell of piss never left our room during the 2 days we stayed. Please don't do like we did and put up with it, demand a nicer smelling room right away while you still can. Our free wifi access was cut at 6:00 am on the day we left. Preparations for a new guest in our room including their wifi password dictated our access had to be cut. A request to have it reinstated at the front desk was not greeted with a lot of eagerness to help. Room and bathroom are outdated but ok. The carpeting is downright nasty with many undetermined stains. We would advise linoleum flooring for easy cleaning. Seats of the chairs in the room are too dirty to touch. A bit of renovation work would move this review to 3 stars but smells and stains kept that from happening this time.
