This is the minimalist hotel. Bathroom looks like a portable toilet. No tissue, no hand towels and no wash cloths. No fridge or safe unless you ask from downstairs. By far, this is smallest room with two single bed that doesn't have a gap in between more like a queen bed, but two single beds. The room is clean and the breakfast buffet OK OK OK is decent. Location is good as it's walkable to the London Tower and bridge and also the Borough market. read more

Certainly not a fancy hotel, but it is clean and comfortable. The rooms are furnished with a decent bed, a table, a utilitarian chair and a bathroom/shower. It meets your basic needs at a price that cannot be matched by most London hotels. It is close to several restaurants and just around the corner from the subway. The bar and lounge area is nice. Breakfast is good. Meal service was good but the food is reheated frozen items. My two suggestions: Offer another sheet in addition to the divet. The rooms are not air conditioned and it gets pretty warm - too warm for covering with a divet. Also, the breakfast needs to start a little earlier. It starts at 7:30 on weekends. If you are going on a tour, that is too late to eat then ride the Tube to an early morning tour. We paid for breakfast for 4 days but only ate there 2 times because we needed to be at the bus station by 8:00 am and had a 30 minute Tube ride. read more

This place was pretty good as a place to sleep, grab a meal, and head out for the day! I'm not completely sure of the rates as we booked through a tour group and I'm too lazy to check the website. The rooms were clean and modern and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was affordable and the food was ok. I will say that the cocktails were NOT good. They tasted good but if you wanna work a buzz, go with a beer/cider (caveat: bartender might have been training). I knocked off one star because the staff seemed confused and not supported by their manager. We woke up after the first night to banging on the door and the lock being tested, though we dead bolted it. When we exited the room, there was a couple trying to get in because they were trying to change rooms and the hotel records indicated our room was unoccupied. We asked the front desk and it sounded like their system marked us as checked out. Then when we went for breakfast, which was supposed to be included, the restaurant wanted to charge us. Ultimately the desk fixed everything by the time we returned for the day, but it's odd to think a couple was about to enter our room while we were still in bed having just woken up. We stayed at this hotel for the end of the first leg of the tour. My favorite band was doing a farewell tour so before we would resume in Finland, they closed the UK shows in London I actually enjoyed this hotel, it was nice, clean, staff was friendly, right around the corner from a subway entrance which was awesome. They don't have front desks like typical hotels, they have staff members with surface pro types of computers to check you in. I have stayed at many IBIs chain hotels around the world so we know the hotels pretty well. The rooms are standard and come with everything you need. One of the only reasons I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I thought their laundry list was quite pricey when other hotels aren't that bad. As I mentioned, once you walk out, a few yards to the right there is an entrance to the subway so that helped. There is also a small little market next door if you need to go get some snacks. One of the best parts of this hotel is that, when you stay here you get a front of the line pass at the venue so kudos to my buddy for finding that out. I had friends waiting in line around 5am for these shows and we got to waltz up at 6pm and be in the front row just for showing our hotel key. The couple times we came back we chilled downstairs at the bar and since we are all Mexican, we were excited and happy to hear rock en español while we drank some more before retiring to our room. This is a very nicely decorated hotel, brand new, I like the style, the deco etc. However I can't tell I had a great experience with it. I tried their restaurant, it took them more than one hour to serve my dish - 10 minutes before being seated and 20min to take my order. They dared asking how was my burger (the waiter didn't even asked how cooked I wanted the meat), I told them nothing is worthy enough to justify such wait... they apologized but didn't even offer the drink or anything. Also the bed was average and the sheets don't seem super clean and the smell is terrible. I didn't try the breakfast after the experience of the first evening dinner. All in all it really not justify the price for staying here. read more

At first glance, the hotel lobby looked very nice. So your impression is that the rest will fall within the same manner. When checking in for our room, which it was supposedly a "better room" according to the gentleman. When entering the room it was hot, humid and smelled like someone vomited in the room. You can tell they tried to clean the carpet, put the heat on to help dry the carpet but instead there was a huge crusty stain on the carpet and the smell of that and mildew took over the room. The rug was also still damp. After opening the window and letting it air out for over a day, it was more manageable. In addition, the hotel or room appeared to have a plumbing issue. Toilets did not flush appropriately and would take several flushes before going down. Often times I also found myself in a puddle of water in the shower and when running the faucet to brush my teeth, the water smelled like sewer water. Besides the hotel issues, the employees do not seem to understand the concept of who the customer is. It can be the small things that matter. Like doing customer service instead of telling the customer to go handle their business request themselves. This location and all IBIS locations will NOT be a top choice in the future. read more

For a budget hotel, the Ibis ticks all my travel wants and needs. Okay, there is no fancy complimentary toiletries, pens or hotel directory in the room, but it was clean, modern, comfortable, offered free wifi and a great location. It is is located less than 1 minutes walk from the Aldgate East tube stop (zone 1 district line), in the heart of East London. There is a Tesco's next door and Impresso cafe located opposite which is a good option for breakfast if you don't want it at the hotel. The lobby area has comfy chairs, desktop computers to use and daily newspapers from around the world. There is also a restaurant, however we never visited. Check out is at a leisurely 12pm and they can store your luggage at reception if you want to go and explore a little longer. All in all, a great location and reasonably priced. read more

Pleasantly surprised! That sums up my reaction to the Ibis hotel in London. I've only ever seen the monstrosity that *is* the Ibis Hotel near Amsterdam's Central Station so I booked it, fully expecting it to be a bit of a dump. I'm ashamed, it's a classic case of judging a book by it's cover. Not even its cover but like the cover of the book you saw in a completely different library. Both the lobby and rooms reminded me of a less flashy Citizen M. No crazy gadgets here but your bathroom is a hell of a lot more private than at Citizen M (see Citizen M review). There isn't room service but you can get simple food like a sandwich or little quiche to take up to your room. There is a Tesco and some other food options right in the area so that is also a possibility! We had a really lovely stay, good service and a nice room for a few days. It has to be said - the bartenders at this place also know how to make an excellent Cosmo. Maybe I had such a nice time because I was drunk? Drunk or sober, I'd be happy to stay here again! *This is a "no frills" sort of place so may seem expensive to those who are unfamiliar with London but to pay less than 100 lbs a night in one of the world's most expensive cities, isn't too bad! read more

Now we know what a budget "no fills" hotel is... We lived in a deluxe room for 4 nights with a view. I can only imagine how small the regular rooms were. The location is right in E1 close to Spitalfields Market and Whitechapel so we can't complain too much. It's a very busy neighbourhood so not a relaxing hotel or peaceful, but the rooms were soundproofed and quiet. Breakfast was a buffet and English Breakfast with rashers and a good way to start the day. So that was good. All the shops and amenities you could want just outside the hotel. Just don't expect to hang out in the room if you have space issues. read more

Room was cleaned well every day. -Rates were good for location. -Located right around the corner from Aldgate East tube, convenient. -Within walking distance of Spitalfields Market, Shoreditch, Tower of London, and Tower Bridge -Tesco Express right next door for all your hunger needs. -Hairdryer provided in room, so don't pack your own. -Bed is so comfy I seriously never wanted to leave it. I need to find out what kind of beds they use... -lobby area has trendy nice decorations and a bar to have a few drinks before you go out. -They provide an extra pillow, slippers, a pot to boil water for tea or coffee, hairdryer, and a glass bottle of water. -offers free WIFI that worked fine. Also computers for free internet in the lobby (didn't use) Cons- -Air conditioning unit was weak. Not a strong air flow. -Only place to blow dry your hair is OUTSIDE of the bathroom by the giant wall mirror. Outlet in bathroom is for "Shavers only" -Bathroom is somewhat small and gives the feeling of a portapotty bathroom at first. But you get used to it. -Our key cards kept having trouble working in the door. Had to go to the desk twice to have them remagnetized...staff tried joking it was our fault. Even maintenance worker agreed the reader wasn't working correctly. Annoying. -Street noise was somewhat loud (we were on the 7th floor) but if you shut the window, it was fine. -Location doesn't really have much to do/see within it's immediate vicinity. Anything you want to get to takes a little walking. No quick eats or cool attractions near it. On the very east side of central London. Maybe staying more central would avoid too much tube usage? -I don't know if they offer larger rooms then what I got- but it seemed to be the correct size for 2 adults. If you're traveling with a family, check on the room size to see if they offer a larger one because I can see it being a cramped space for more than 2 adults in the type of room we got. -No refrigerator, ironing board, or safe in room. I knew this going into it- but thought I should add it here to inform. We stayed for 10 days and although I DID list Cons above, nothing was so off-putting that it would stop me from staying here again. The price was good, the room was clean, and the bed was comfy. When you're not sitting in your hotel room much- this is all I need to enjoy my stay. :) read more

Not what I expected from reading the hotel website. First time in London, not impressed at all. No mini fridge , no stationary or pen in the room, no trash can in the room (only a little one in the bathroom), no toiletries in the bath room, no hotel directory, no city info/things todo or room service menu in the room, no ice machines, no snack machines, holes in the curtain, 2 towels total in the bathroom, the worst hotel I have ever been in. Here for a week ... like a college dorm or low security federal prison. They put me in an HC accessible room.. no problem unless you want to shower. Slow drain in floor - water just lays everywhere. I would give this 4 star. Reason is their AC does not work. What I meant is if its cold outside, only heater works. I love cold room but thats the only thing that disappoint me. they are very proffesional and helpful. You can leave your luggage by the lobby if you get there before check in time, for free. Love the bar, friendly staff. Not sure about the breakfast because I did not eat there. When we had our do not disturb sign hang on our door, they kindly left us a bag with new towels and bottles when we came back from our trip. Bed is comfortable. No iron. I dont remember if they have a safe. There is a convenient store,ATM,bus station and Metro right outside the hotel. read more

For the price should have free toiletries , although there's a late tesco right next door. Unusually for London hotel. the TV works and has dozens of channels, the WIFI works and is free for basic service . rooms are clean . Airco was not working, in multiple rooms. Not sure if they override the minimum setting but I wanted airflow, its London , you need it. Breakfast , perhaps remember that vegetarians like hot food too? Not paying 9 pounds for toast or cornflakes, recommend the Costa round the corner instead, open early and large latte plus egg roll just over a fiver read more

This place was everything we needed in our stay in London. What others say about the small rooms is true, it was a little larger than a stayroom on a cruise, but honestly, it wasn't less than needed. The rooms were comfortable and do remember to bring your toiletries because they offer an all in one shampoo/soap/bodywash that is a little weird. The staff was very friendly, but the best part was the complimentary breakfast buffet every morning. They had such a wonderful selection, from the normal continental breakfast stuff to fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, sausage, french toast - I could go on. No frills, environmentally conscious, simple, clean, comfortable room. Felt like an IKEA hotel room. No extra toiletries like other hotels usually have - just an all purpose soap for face body hair. First room we were in had weak AC making it uncomfortable for us to sleep in. We asked one of the workers at the front and experienced great customer service from her. Got a room change from 5 to 10th floor. In most hotels I stay in usually that means the room is nicer, but here the room was the same but AC was cooler. As someone mentioned before, you cannot control your AC. Room also included hangers in small closet space, a hotpot to warm up water, Nescafé coffees and black teas and small Biscoff cookies. Compared to other hotels I've stayed at, here there was no: iron, ironing board, hair/shower cap, various sizes towels (only 2 large towels + 1 for shower floor, tissue box, pen and pad, ice bucket, fridge, safety box, microwave, more than 2 pillows. All in all though I enjoyed my stay. Had great sleep on the mattress and restful stay in the room. read more
