The resort has something for families, singles, events, conferences, couples and more. Located directly on the beach there is no where better to stay. We booked with Chase Sapphire Reserve and had quite a good amount of specials. A resort credit, an upgrade, late checkout, and free breakfast. The suite had beautiful high ceilings, spacious bathroom and living room, and we were met with a bottle of champagne upon our arrival. Concierge and hotel staff took care of everything for us from restaurant bookings to attractions to attraction and spa bookings. I can't say enough about the friendly and helpful nature of everyone we encountered. We enjoyed breakfast each morning with a beautiful buffet of fruits, pastries, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit juices, eggs, sausage, and more. We also could order off the menu for specific items. Coffee, sparkling wine, and juices included. The pool was the perfect temperature(its temperature controlled), and well attended with bathrooms right there. Outside on the beach the hotel has its own tent, chairs, and towels. Complimentary beach bag and flip flops upon your arrival. Turndown included fresh water and treats, and I loved the scents of all their products. Great restaurants on site as well as nearby.

The vibe is pretty old school, but the staff are all pretty young, so they really make the place feel more alive! Breakfast is pretty good and they have lots of options, 24hr pool, and tennis courts! What I really liked was that they had a section reserved right on the beach, where you can sit, leave your stuff, and even get a massage! Will definitely be back! They have my heart!!

My favorite part was the shower/tub. I loved unwinding with an aromatic bubble bath in the evenings. My only complaint however, is that their faucets and shower head filters clearly haven't been changed in a long time. The shower water spews in every direction with poor water pressure, as does the sink. The sink also kept clogging. My boyfriend was personally a fan of the toilet (ha!) which had a heated seat and dryer. The bed was dreamy, and thanks the pillow menu, I even found a pillow for my debilitating neck pain. The welcome treats were appreciated, as were the nightly desserts. Finally, the pool deck has the best views of the Rio and provides an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city below.

The hotel itself is not a huge presence on Avenida Atlantica; in fact you could easily pass it by for some other more extravagant edifice lining one of the most famous beaches in the world. But I urge you not to overlook it! The rooms, which most have been recently renovated, and the rest are in progress, are nicely done and very comfortable. And if you're lucky enough to get one of the front-facing rooms, the views of Copacabana and the Atlantic Ocean will not disappoint. The hotel offers free beach towels and umbrellas for its guests. Wi-fi options range from free to paid. Not much on TV...but you're in Rio, so don't even turn it on. When I make it back to Rio, I will definitely keep the Golden Tulip on my list!

However, they have a two tremendous advantages: 1- the view of the ocean (the out of this world Copacabana beach from is something you can only find in magazines. Simply amazing. This view is available to a large number of their rooms and suites, as well as from their outdoor pool and outdoor restaurants and bars. 2- the hotel is located right next to a military (beach front) station. Which adds a lot of security comfort. The restaurant food is excellent. Service is also excellent. The only drawback was their rooms. They are nice and spacious- however I felt they needed to be upgraded to match the rest of the amenities.

When you walk in you get that wow factor and the views from the pool are breathtaking. However, their customer service on ALL levels severely lacks the standards presented at five star establishment. Upon arrival our room was not ready, no biggie, we were early. We then went to the restaurant near the pool to get something to eat while we waited. Needless to say, we sat there for over 30mins before even being acknowledged. Once we received attention from a server, there was an extreme disconnect in service delivery (i.e. getting water and refills, checking in to see how things were going). I would love to say that this was just a one time experience during our stay, but it was definitely a trend. Once we were notified that our room was ready, we were taken to a room that overwhelmingly wreaked the smell of mildew and mold, to the point my allergies and my friend's allergies began to flare up. Upon calling the front desk, we were sent to three different rooms with the same layout we paid for (a family suite), one of the rooms had someone in it, and the other two wreaked of mildew & mold. It was quickly identified that the rooms ending in 25 clearly have a mold/mildew problem. The resolution from management was to move us to a much smaller room, with a partial view for no charge. There was no service recovery or concessions provided to us for having to stay in a much smaller room, being sent to multiple rooms and our accommodations not being met. Instead we were told that the room we were in had a view and was essentially the same price as the family room. Although, we paid for and preferred the space over the view. The customer service is not in alignment with a five star hotel. If you want an awesome view with a disconnect in customer service this is your place.

They had scrambled eggs, bacon, some sort of sausage, pastries and cereals. Shower had commando strength! I had no complaints there. Always had hot water when I wanted. Location. Location. Location. Hotel is maybe 1/2 block from the beach. Windsor Miramar is closer and more expensive but seriously, it's not worth it. It is only 2 streets (literally) away from the beach. Customer service-the front desk personnel were always on point. They were always nice and willing to give to give you directions. Room service/housekeeping-definitely on point. We didn't get it every day we were here but they delivered. Food was hot. Sheets were clean. In room safe- always a plus. Con: LOUD! Ok, we were on the 3rd floor. We can hear so many noises. We can hear bathroom noises like flushing or water water running from neighbors. Shuffling or stepping noises outside the room I guess or upstairs. No microwaves in the room. They have a minibar/refrigerator. If you call downstairs, (because sometimes they have a common microwave) they said they have a management policy that they can't heat up outside food. Really? We're in Brazil. We had a standard room and it has no view. The pool is TINY so don't bother. The bar at the pool has nice drinks though so that is a nice perk. The fitness center is also TINY. It has literally 4 equipments. So I would stay here again. *****If you are a first timer in Rio***** only exchange a few bucks at the airport. You will find a exchange place in Rio for better exchange rate. Ask around. We found a place right by the hotel for for .299 and we walked around and they exchanged for .30. The "taxi" ride from the airport was about $45 US dollars so if you do better than that then that is good because the same "taxi" driver offered to drive us back for $23.

The room is basic and clean, but the overall aesthetic of the interior is far from that of fancy boutique hotels. Stylistically it reminded me of Holiday Inn. The breakfast buffet is on the boring side, comparable to the typical Marriott standard breakfast buffet. The staff is friendly and helpful. The selling point of this hotel is the fantastic location, it's only a block away from Copacabana Beach (Posto 5) and it's pretty safe to walk around even at night. Posto 5 beach is pretty chill, it has a nice eclectic mix of locals and tourists and we didn't get harassed too much by the street vendors who roam around the beach . The wave is pretty high, but you are better off around Posto 5 because it's even worse around Posto 1-3.... I would avoid those unless you are a surfer. Posto 9 & 10 (Ipanema/Lebron) are considered to be the safest and the most trendy beach area where you will find more rich and stylish folks and from Posto 4 and below, the beach becomes more ghetto. There are enough restaurants and convenience stores around the hotel. If you want a cool romantic hotel, this is not the one for you. But if you are looking for an affordable hotel that's close to the beach , this might work for you.

Watching the sunrise from my room was amazing! You can also open the windows, so that's a plus. There's a fridge/mini bar, coffee, tv. The norm. The downside, the rooms are dated. It's not bad, but it's not great. Bring slippers to wear because the floor felt a little dirty. There is also a placard above the toilet to throw toilet paper in the trash rather than flushing. I'm not sure if this is city specific or just the hotel. If it's a city thing, I can't fault them for that. Due to my work schedule, I was sleeping a bit during the day and I could hear everyone talking in the halls as if my door were open, even with the room designed with a right turn and hall before the bed. The doors kind of slam closed so I could hear all of that, along with chairs being slid around on the floor above me. I don't get a choice for hotels but I would try another if it were possible. One day we had some down time so we went to the Spa for massages, great massage, nice area u get to relax, drink tea & eat fancy chocolates by end of your massage. I would say one of the best things at this hotel is the roof top pool, Just wow, the views during any time are just lovely. They have a bar area for food & drinks, we had drinks caipirinha were good but pricey compare to else where, beers were not bad but I didn't like that they had no Brazilian beers. During the day this is where u get the hotel towels for the beach, the hotel has a designated area for guest which was nice. After the beach visit u can rise off in the showers before entering the hotel, nice & convenient. There was some construction during our visit which disrupted sleep some mornings since the construction was a bit loud, not terrible but of course just more annoying than anything else.
