Copacabana

If you're traveling to Rio, Copacabana Palace is the place to stay. The service, amenities, and…read moresmall touches all add up to a restful and restorative stay. The resort has something for families, singles, events, conferences, couples and more. Located directly on the beach there is no where better to stay. We booked with Chase Sapphire Reserve and had quite a good amount of specials. A resort credit, an upgrade, late checkout, and free breakfast. The suite had beautiful high ceilings, spacious bathroom and living room, and we were met with a bottle of champagne upon our arrival. Concierge and hotel staff took care of everything for us from restaurant bookings to attractions to attraction and spa bookings. I can't say enough about the friendly and helpful nature of everyone we encountered. We enjoyed breakfast each morning with a beautiful buffet of fruits, pastries, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit juices, eggs, sausage, and more. We also could order off the menu for specific items. Coffee, sparkling wine, and juices included. The pool was the perfect temperature(its temperature controlled), and well attended with bathrooms right there. Outside on the beach the hotel has its own tent, chairs, and towels. Complimentary beach bag and flip flops upon your arrival. Turndown included fresh water and treats, and I loved the scents of all their products. Great restaurants on site as well as nearby.

This is what you call an EXPERIENCE. My stay at the copacabana palace changed my life and I will…read morenever again settle for anything else. The vibe is pretty old school, but the staff are all pretty young, so they really make the place feel more alive! Breakfast is pretty good and they have lots of options, 24hr pool, and tennis courts! What I really liked was that they had a section reserved right on the beach, where you can sit, leave your stuff, and even get a massage! Will definitely be back! They have my heart!!

I booked this Novotel based on the proximity to RioCentro where Web Summit took place. It had…read moreexcellent TripAdvisor reviews too. Unfortunately, very basic hotel, with less than exciting location in the area of Rio that is not good either. The service was quite indifferent too, my Platinum status wasn't even acknowledged, I was told that the water in the room wasn't free either. I always get water bottles and Platinum amenity. The only bright spot was front desk representative Beatrice who tried hard to make our stay pleasant. The room looked old and dated, with mildew and mold, and it smelled of smoke. The room keys didn't work on several occasions. The breakfast was barely edible. All in all, I won't stay there again, and don't recommend this hoteL. Stayed in many Novotel hotels in the world, much better experience. Also, stayed in 2 other Accor hotels in Rio: Fairmont and Mercure, much better experience too. This hotel is listed as #1 hotel in Rio on Trip Advisor, this is straight up lie, alas!

The staff at the front desk was exceptional. I entered my room #111 to be greeted by a strong smell…read moreof mildew which I think was coming from the heavily stained and waterline marked couch. The towels in my room were very rough and the toilet was less than a foot in front of the sink. The service at the lobby bar was sad. After putting in an order for a drink and while the bar wasn't crowded, I waited at lease ten minutes before the bartender returned with my drink. This wasn't a one time thing and I noticed other people from my group getting the same treatment -- then double billed for there drink orders, sometimes within minutes of their last payment. We were told we couldn't get the double billing charge off our bill until checkout. And yes this bar ran out of some liquors. The pool and gym hours should be extended. Both facilities did not open until 9AM. All of the lobby furniture should be replaced. Nothing I sat on was comfortable and showed signs of a lot of use and mildew. At night, the lobby bar was full of mosquitoes. Breakfast was ok, but items were not replenished. Despite inconvienences, the hotel staff was friendly and courteous. Unfortunately, I spent most of my stay across the street at the Hilton.
