Copacabana was recommended to me form a fellow traveler, which was a great find! The hotel is absolutely stunning inside and out. The staff were very nice and I received great customer service. I sat in the pool area I the back courtyard. I only ate lunch here, Ive heard the hotel service was expensive but worth it. The beach is across the street, so prime real estate. This whole place was very vibrant! Our food and drink came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed my lunch and would recommend you visit them during your stay. Just the views alone is worth the visit. They do have a live band that plays at night upstairs in a bar area facing the beach. The whole place is very vibrant and hotel. Some name brand shopping if that's your thing.

Vegan eggplant starter. This is DIVINITY on a plate. Light, bursting with flavor. Absolute must try!

This is hands down one of my top 3 favorite hotels in the world. I travel non stop and have stayed in the most incredible hotels worldwide but Copacabana Palace is a whole other level of unique. The beach view rooms are sensational, I've stayed probably 4 times now and it never gets old... but my favorite thing about this hotel is the vegan/vegetarian menu at the hotels main restaurant. Whether you are veggie/plant-based or not, this fantastic creative part of their menu is not to be missed!

This is the pool we weren't allowed to swim in.

Unwelcome... We booked a spa day and spent over $300 USD on various treatments lasting 3 hours. Our spa experience was incredible! Our plan was to make a day of it and grab a drink and lunch beside the pool afterwards (the pool is right beside the spa). They refused to let us swim in the pool or order food at the pool - even though there was not a single other guest swimming in the pool- SEE Pictures. They said we could sit in the lounge chairs in our robes, and could order at their outdoor restaurant where we would need to sit at a table away from the pool. There were empty chairs and waiters doing nothing all around us. They even called a manager to ask, and the manager said NO. (The spa gave us a bottle of sparking wine to try to make it better, but it wasn't what we wanted.) We asked if we could PAY extra to use the empty pool, but we were denied. We just felt unwelcome sitting there in our robes after spending hundreds of dollars for a nice spa day. We wanted to PAY for food and drinks...We would have spent more money. If I would have known in advance, I wouldn't have booked. Most hotel spas include the pool when you book a large spa package. Totally disappointed.

This is the view from the "City View" rooms Hmmm

Hotel is historic and great location and good service - but be warned of the rooms with a "City View"

Gorgeous hotel. Great rooms and views from every room , almost. Staff is great Marcus at concierge has great recommendations and bars make great drinks everywhere on the property. The rates are very VERY high all year round so , but worth it, stay here at least one night if you are staying in rio. Right across the beach. Good shopping and dining alla round. The property it's gorgeous. Comparable to the Waldorf in NYC or the RitZ Carlton in Naples. Great dining halls downstairs and the pool is perfect for rio. Also lots of space for big parties and events.

Reviewing the spa! Firstly they have excellent service. I was contacting them from Canada to organize a treatment and they replied within a hour or so. They were very prompt and helpful. I came in today for the Samba treatment. I came in about an hour early to use the sauna and steam room facilities. The room is quite a small area but I was the only person there so I did not mind. I was also given a locker, flip-flops, a robe and a towel to use. There are shower and toilet facilities as well. I then went to the relaxation room where they were four lounger beds. After that my therapist called me, she spoke very little English but I could understand her. My treatment started off with a footbath and I was offered tea and water. Then I had a full body exfoliation, shower, clay mask application, shower then a bath and lastly and oil massage. The treatment ended with a late lunch of which they were able to accommodate my vegetarian requests. I was very happy with the services here and they are also very well priced Plus it was excellent that they were open on a Sunday especially since it is Easter.

Absolutely perfect in every way. From the little Brazilian Chocolates they give you upon arrival to the complimentary flip flops in your room, this hotel is the best of the best. I saw Martin Sheen and one of the musicians from Bruce Springsteen's band (the guy from the Soprano's) when I was staying there. The beach across the street was one of the busiest and dirtiest but they have an area with umbrellas, chairs and attendants on hand just for hotel guests. I even received a massage on the beach. The concierge set us up with a fabulous day trip to go see the local attractions including Christ the Reedemer, Sugar Loaf, Samba Area, Colorful Steps and the Soccer Field. It was a great excursion.

Beautiful inside and out as well as superior service.

You can't just walk in here for drinks or dinner. You must be a guest as many stars and royalty stay here. It looks and feels like you're in a movie and treat you like a star. There is always a maid or service person for absolutely Anything you desire. They don't like photo taking in public areas like the pool. Yaay: pay attention to the fabulous time you're having instead. If you're got a little extra money to spare, this is the Only place to stay in Copacabana.

Goodness, how could you stay here and not give the place 5 stars? What an amazing and gorgeous place. We were here for the last two nights of our honeymoon and were upgraded to a nice sweet in the "old" building. The suite was beautiful. Since it is probably a given to anyone looking this up that this is a luxurious place, I guess I will just list a couple points that made this place special: -the pool: you can go night swimming here! the pool is lit up and heated and there re little fountains sputtering from the sides. We went night swimming our second night and were the only ones in the pool and it was very romantic. We also watched a wedding party from inside the pool and there are plenty of interesting things going on in the patio around it. The pool is also huge - we were joking that it is double the size of our apartment. Night swimming is the best, but be aware that during the day it was very crowded. -the porn: we got in the room the first night and ordered some room service. While we were waiting husband flipped around the TV to find something amusing to watch - the only English language station was porn! It was funny and surprising that it was free and just on the TV when we were flipping channels. So make sure to watch some porn if you are there! Everything else is probably not surprising: bathroom huge with great shower and large, strangely long bathtub, 3 balconies, comfortable furniture, right across the street from the beach, classy vibe! We didn't eat at any of the restaurants around the pool becuase we didn't have fancy enough clothes with us, but there was a super classy jazz place, a new Asian place that won an award and some other place that served breakfast and had seating all around the pool. If we had any more money to spare and nicer clothes we would have eaten at one! Not much more to say, it was an incredible place and I am so happy we got to stay here even for such a short time.

This is a review of the spa. I had a gift certificate for an hour massage at the spa. Booking was relatively easy; they had several openings and I was able to arrange things online. The spa was past the lobby to the left, around the back of the pool to the left. There's a short elevator or stairs, to the elevated portion where the hair salon and spa are. It said to come in your swimsuit and show up half an hour before your appointment to relax in the wet or dry saunas, so I showed up 30 minutes before my appointment and was given a locker at the front desk. The receptionist was curt but professional, not very warm and welcoming but a little stand off-ish. The woman's changing room to the right, had showers, toilets and lockers. The locker had a 4 number combo and included a robe and flip flops to change into and a towel. After changing I was shown to the left side where there is a separated men's from women's sauna rooms. The rooms were small but clean and well heated. The dry sauna had two rows wooden seating and dry eucalyptus with coals and was quite dark. The wet sauna was a two tiered white marble bench and was dripping with condensation and steam. It didn't seem like you could adjust the temperatures but they were intense. I tried both for short periods of time and then sat in the lounge rehydrating with water. When my appointment time came, they called me back, introduced me to my masseuse and took me upstairs to a room. They already decided which type of massage, according to the receptionist, which must have been a misunderstanding but it sounded like it was difficult to change so I just went with the relaxing massage. I was able to chose from three essential oils and relax with soft music. I was also able to specify areas of tension (shoulders for me). She took the full amount of time, no skimping and was very professional. She knew her muscle groups very well and had good techniques for working out knots in muscles. Afterward I was offered some hot tea and allowed to go back to the saunas if I wanted. I was able to shower and change, which is great when you have massage oil all over your skin. Definitely well worth it. Very good experience except for the incident with the receptionist.

My favorite part was the shower/tub. I loved unwinding with an aromatic bubble bath in the evenings. My only complaint however, is that their faucets and shower head filters clearly haven't been changed in a long time. The shower water spews in every direction with poor water pressure, as does the sink. The sink also kept clogging. My boyfriend was personally a fan of the toilet (ha!) which had a heated seat and dryer. The bed was dreamy, and thanks the pillow menu, I even found a pillow for my debilitating neck pain. When you walk in you get that wow factor and the views from the pool are breathtaking. However, their customer service on ALL levels severely lacks the standards presented at five star establishment. Upon arrival our room was not ready, no biggie, we were early. We then went to the restaurant near the pool to get something to eat while we waited. Needless to say, we sat there for over 30mins before even being acknowledged. Once we received attention from a server, there was an extreme disconnect in service delivery (i.e. getting water and refills, checking in to see how things were going). I would love to say that this was just a one time experience during our stay, but it was definitely a trend. Once we were notified that our room was ready, we were taken to a room that overwhelmingly wreaked the smell of mildew and mold, to the point my allergies and my friend's allergies began to flare up. Upon calling the front desk, we were sent to three different rooms with the same layout we paid for (a family suite), one of the rooms had someone in it, and the other two wreaked of mildew & mold. It was quickly identified that the rooms ending in 25 clearly have a mold/mildew problem. The resolution from management was to move us to a much smaller room, with a partial view for no charge. There was no service recovery or concessions provided to us for having to stay in a much smaller room, being sent to multiple rooms and our accommodations not being met. Instead we were told that the room we were in had a view and was essentially the same price as the family room. Although, we paid for and preferred the space over the view. The customer service is not in alignment with a five star hotel. If you want an awesome view with a disconnect in customer service this is your place.

Hotel is a great location right across from the beach, they have a cafe across the street that is part of the hotel, we had drinks & food here one day not bad. During the day this is where u get the hotel towels for the beach, the hotel has a designated area for guest which was nice. After the beach visit u can rise off in the showers before entering the hotel, nice & convenient. There was some construction during our visit which disrupted sleep some mornings since the construction was a bit loud, not terrible but of course just more annoying than anything else. Overall we had an enjoyable stay, great pool & a great location make this a good hotel stay.

There is a rooftop pool, fitness center, and restaurant. It is not a luxury hotel but is considered expensive for locals. For Americans, rooms can be had for a s low as $100 a night. The best part of this hotel is its location. It is right in the heart of Copacabana Beach surrounded by restaurants and stores. My room was fairly high up so I got beautiful views of Sugar Loaf Mountain and the beach as well.

The rooftop bar has an amazing celebratory vibe and amazing hand crafted drinks make freshly with real abundant fruit. There is small rooftop pool that allows no more than ~5 people comfortably. A gym with a shower also on the rooftop. The hotel also included free continental breakfast which I do miss the guava paste, cheese bread, and cheese options. The elevators on the other hand were relatively slow but managed during full capacity. Caution: The only reason for my star reduction is due the event below. During our stay, two of our acquaintances in the same room both had their wallets stolen during breakfast time (and their wallets were in separate hidden locations). While we can never be certain how it occurred, there was cleaning staff in their room during the window that they were away and their room was just opened during that window as well. The hotel staff was not incredibly helpful with their concerns about the items and did not show the video. All that to say...KEEP YOUR VALUABLES IN YOUR SAFE, KEEP YOUR PHONE HIDDEN, AND BE CAUTIOUS OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS WHEN IN RIO.

The hotel is average hotel in Copacabana district with decent daily buffet breakfast. Staff were nice and helpful, the downside is communication, staff has no or little English language skills. We stayed here for a week in the month of March, humid but we enjoy our stay.
