If you're looking to pick up a piece of furniture that will add a bit of class to your home or flat…read morethis is a good place to come. There's plenty on offer and in general all the items hold some sort of artistic merit. For example, you can pick up a rather nice piano for £200, a grandfather clock for £300 or an old chest for a sum I fail to remember. What makes these items so special is the air of prestige and the enhanced atmosphere they have to offer. It's well worth having a look around as there are items to catch your eye in all price ranges so there's likely to be something a bit special you might want to buy.

It is a wide array of items, but is undoubtedly of a classier nature. Selling old televisions from the 60s, unusual crockery and second hand furniture, Leith Salerooms is littered in special old items. They have a great selection of grandfather clocks and although a lot of their stock doesn't come cheap, that's due to the fact that it's kept in relatively good condition. Some of the antique furniture is certainly worthy of a showroom or an auction, and the vast majority of the items in here are beguiling and unusual. Although it has a somewhat shambled appearance, the staff are friendly and well versed, and the stock is more high end than the stuff you'd find in markets or at the back of lorries. Definitely not what you'd call bargain basement, Leith Salerooms cuts a line between second hand and antique dealer.

(If you followed this reference, high five yourself. Sure it will just look like an enthusiastic clap, but you'll know better). I quite like Galerie Mirages, it's an interesting little shop to pop into every now and again to see what new finds they've uncovered. Most of the wares are lost on me, not being a gal who wears a lot of jewellery or understands what a singing bowl is, but there are always some interesting sculptures, and as Jenny noted, some stunning furniture for those who have pockets deep enough to purchase them. But it's an interesting place to browse through if you're looking for a gift and though most of the stuff is rather pricey, there's a good section of lower priced items that make great trinkets or house warming pressies. The service is... quiet? I've never had a staff member approach me or ask if I need help, but when I've approached them, they've been quiet pleasant. Overall, it's well worth poking your head in the door but the price point keeps it from being a regular staple on my Stockbridge list.

I could have spent a couple hours oohing and ahhing over all the beautiful pieces contained in this shop. It's probably fortunate for my wallet that I had limited time. I do love the scarf and earrings that I bought. There is a wide variety of items at a large range of prices. Jewelry, home decor, knick knacks. Much of it feels like they are one of a kind sort of items. I believe the lady that helped us was the owner. She showed us where to find the bargain items and was very upfront about why they were on sale. She also took some time - even though we were keeping her past closing time - to answer our questions and to tell us about her travels - you can really tell that she is living her dream. Quite inspiring! Makes me want to follow in the footsteps of her travels and perhaps follow in her footsteps and find a way to make the passion for travel also my job.

We are doing up our house at the moment and, having moved from a flat, are in desperate need for furniture. We'd chosen to visit this part of town to check out the antique stores and happened upon Vintage and Reclaimed. The owner explained that the furniture is all new, but his standard stock is made from reclaimed timbers which gives it a fantastic look. He also stocks furniture made by someone down south (I think??) which has a more finished look to it and is also gorgeous. The best part about this place is that they are willing to make what you want to size. This means that if you fall in love with a piece of furniture they have on the shop floor and devastatingly discover that it won't fit in your house, not a problem! They will make one of the size and colour which you like. On top of this, the prices are SO reasonable. Seriously. The Man and I are looking for a massive wardrobe and the one we found here was a good £700+ cheaper than any other one we liked. After we left here we visited the aforementioned antique stores but just kept saying "it's not as good as Vintage and Reclaimed" so we gave up and decided that once the building work is done, we will scrape together our pennies and spend them all here.
