Fortunately we were able to randomly find Lake Como Driver on google. I think this is a husband and wife team running a small "taxi" service (but really more like a black car service). Alessandro doesn't speak much English, but we were able to work out pickup and drop off locations over the phone with his wife. Prompt pickup, nice car (newer model Range Rover), and easy to work with. I'm assuming they'd prefer to be booked on a longer term basis, but we were super happy he could pick us up on short notice. Also, both were very nice. Starting off with a buon giorno and parla inglese and finishing with a grazie probably helps (i speak zero italian, but it's always good to make an effort!). Mostly I'm writing this because the ride was pleasant, but also because there are so few reviews for car service around Lake Como. Hope it helps someone!

Como is a pretty small city and I wouldn't mind staying a couple of days on our next trip to the area. I did see a train heading to Zurich from there as the northern area of Italy neighbors Switzerland. For a small town Como is pretty much swamped with visitors and with no airport the railway station is the main transportation hub. 4 star railway station that does the job close to the city which is very walkable.

His price was great, his car was super clean and he was early for our 630am meeting time at our apartment. He was a great driver, a true gentleman and he provided a car seat for our daughter. We will definitely use him again in the future if we get to visit Lake Como again!

The waterfront outdoor patio has a very charming atmosphere with nice decor and beautiful views. We received very friendly and quick service, and enjoyed a small breakfast of bread, butter, jam, omelette, cappuccino, and fresh juice. Simple but exactly what we needed to fuel our busy day! The interior bar area was just as nice, and while I can't personally speak to any of the accommodations I would highly recommend this location as a place to stay. It's a great midpoint between Como and Bellagio and has frequent public transportation.

We came for lunch and sat by the water, and while we were disappointed that they didn't have pizza for lunch, we ended up with some excellent pastas -- a basically perfect edition of linguine with clams, and a paccheri with fish sauce and pistachios that was just excellent. Their prosciutto with melon was also amazing, and we really liked the bruschetta as well. Our three-year-old also loved their penne with tomato sauce. Definitely would love to come back here (especially for dinner to try the pizza) on our next trip.

It was a 15 minute walk down to the waters edge (look for the blue and white striped poles) where we met the Australian wife of the operation and checked in. She was warm and friendly and gave us some good tips for other sight seeing during our stay. We boarded precisely at 4:30 and headed out right away. There wasn't much in the way of narration, in fact we had to keep asking questions just to get some information in between the pre-planned sights like the villa featured in the bond film Casino Royale and one of Richard Branson's houses. Most of the tour was spent at slow wake speed going along the shore. Not really any effort to try to help you get great pictures. In the end this didn't quite live up to expectations-just someone going through the motions and collecting a big fee. While it was great being out on the water, the high sides of the boat and slow speeds did little to cool us off on the very very hot day. Luckily we had brought along our own water! For 230€ per hour you'd think they'd serve prosecco and caviar. Cannot recommend

Entrusting your hotel to help you with arranging for a private charter is your best bet. The company is based in Sala Comacina, in the greater Como area, but that's doesn't really matter, because they come to you! Our hotel (Relais Villa Vittoria) had a boat dock so we picked up from the hotel, which was super convenient. They are not just limited to private tours, they also offer taxi services on the entire lake in addition to wedding and special event transport. They have several boats in their fleet that range in size, from 15 seats to 78. We really lucked out with Boat-Service! The company is owned by three partners. Our guide was one of the owners, Marco. Marco arrived on time, the boat was in pristine condition and the entire ride was super smooth. He picked us up in the Castell d'Isola- their Venetian taxi. The emerald green interior was lovely! We really enjoyed our morning with Marco and would do it again! If you've been searching the web for a boat charter in the Como area, you can stop your search now. Cash only for the private boat tour.
