Dawgue is a 5-month-old mixed breed female puppy with a ton of energy and difficult to control. She is tipping the scale at 50 pounds already. Taylor taught me how to greatly improve Dawgue's response to the command "come" to me in about 15 minutes. I learned a lot about the psychology of dog and what motivates them to respond to my commands. After working with Taylor, I saw a great improvement in Dawgue's response to me in our first walk outside, she was much better behaved and is learning to come to me when told to do so. There is much to be learned by me and more training for Dawgue to help me reach my goal of having her walk beside me without a leash and not be distracted by other dogs, people and other critters etc. I am very encouraged that by working with Taylor and heeding his advice Dawgue and I will accomplish this goal. Thank you, Taylor. Regards Kevin

I retained…read moresomeone who lived very close to me and had great reviews, but after a few sessions I realized our schedules were not compatible; I was not getting consistency and reliability from her. It's important for me to make progress with my dog, so I Googled alternate options and stumbled upon Alex's page. I called him on a Friday and he picked up the phone right away. We spoke for a while about my needs and he came out the following Tuesday for what was supposed to be a 2-hour visit. I fell in love with him immediately, he is not only so personable and likable on his own, but he really takes the time to LISTEN to what you need and work on those things right away. I had mentioned my priorities to my previous trainer, but I found that she was teaching my dog commands that didn't actually accomplish what I was after. In our first meeting, Alex worked on SO MANY of my priorities. He got my dog to go into her crate on command, taught her to "stay," showed me how to "walk with" my dog better on her leash, and (using a 30' leash outdoors) started working on recall with her. We were so immersed in what was going on that Alex started to go a little bit over our time, but he didn't want to stop because we were making such great progress. I told him if he wanted to give me a third hour right then and there that I was prepared to pay for it, and he did!! I learned a lot of things from Alex myself during our first meeting, like how to employ the use of "deltas" (which my old trainer never once mentioned) and how non-verbal cues are arguably more important than verbal ones. Again, my old trainer actually discouraged me from using hand motions, but once incorporating them into my routine I noticed that my dog was much more compliant than she had been. Another positive difference between my old trainer and Alex is he really takes the time to teach you why he's doing what he's doing, and encourages you to participate. My old trainer just taught my dog a command and had me replicate/practice when she left. Alex really makes you feel like you are a part of the teaching process. After our private session Alex recommended some "Small Group Therapy" for my pup. He came at noon on a Thursday to pick up my dog and she proceeded to go on a several-hour outing with his two chihuahuas and a dog he was fostering. The entire time he was out with her he was recording and sharing videos on an iCloud album. It was INCREDIBLE to not only see everything that was happening, but to hear him narrate why he was doing the things he was doing. I could not get enough of his videos and felt like I was there during the session. On top of Alex's excellent communication, punctuality, reliability, friendliness, competency, and effectiveness, his rates are OUTRAGEOUS in the BEST way! I truly believe he is under-charging for his services. I can get three hours with Alex for less than I paid for one hour with my prior trainer, and I feel much better about the work that is done during that timeframe. I adore Alex, and most importantly, what he is doing works. He really gets into the mind of your dog, and has such a wonderful way of connecting with them and their needs. I am elated to keep our work going - my pup has lots more Small Group Therapy outings in her future and it's wonderful that I have the option to use him one-on-one to teach her even more commands in the house. One day I hope to move on from essential commands to more fun ones, like "roll over" or "go get X toy."

When Jen was personally taking care of my cats herself in the beginning days of first hiring her,…read morethings were great and my original 5-star review applied. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. At some point over the years, as the business grew, she started sending other pet sitters she hired to do the job I mistakenly assumed she was still doing. I realized there were always other sitters but initially she was the one caring for my cats who are now deceased. When we adopted 3 new ones almost 7 years ago, I had her come over to meet them so they would be somewhat familiar with her when she came back to pet sit. I don't know if she ever came back herself after that or if it was a different person who did the pet sitting from that point on. She should have told me then that there would be a different sitter going forward. Communication has become less effective, instructions not followed properly, and during the most recent hiring of their services, the water bowls were not cleaned or changed out in 9 days. They had been refilled with more water so they never ran out (I assume), but the bowls were slimy on the bottom with scum, and the water dirty with cat hair, litter, food, and other debris that inevitably collects in a water bowl. The instructions I'd left specifically mentioned changing out the water bowls for cleaning, which should be a no-brainer if your job is caring for pets. Furthermore, whoever my assigned sitter was for this job, lied on her status update on the final day and wrote, "....put down new bowls of water for them." If a pet sitter can't do something as simple as giving your cats fresh bowls of water and lies about it, what else did they lie about? This last experience, along with the owner's cavalier response, has resulted in the termination of a professional relationship of more than a decade, which is also upsetting. A different response with an offered solution may have salvaged the broken trust and relationship, but I guess she no longer needs or cares about my business.

I settled on a 7 blade because he needed to be groomed and shaving was their immediate, only option given, and the 7 length they showed wasn't that short. When I came back, he was shaven down much shorter. He was not matted prior, and we verified this with the groomer before we left to ensure they wouldn't do anything I didn't want. He has a double coat and shouldn't have been shaved with what was, at least, a 2 or 3 blade. It was much, much shorter than I agreed to, you could see his pink skin through his fur. It made him very uncomfortable and cold. The shave and the few areas that were actually cut were very choppy. His ears were longer, as I asked for, but only one was actually v-shaped - the other was cut straight across and forgotten about. They didn't shave around the muzzle as I asked them to, but they charged an extra ten for it anyway. ??? He came back looking like a civil war general around the muzzle. Overall, it looked very rushed, which was really disappointing because he was there for 4 hours because we agreed to give them more time since they were running behind. They indicated no behavioral problems, only that he didn't really like his feet messed with (which we spoke with the groomer about beforehand, as he once had his paw pad shaved off by a groomer at another grooming facility). The staff has always been nice, but seemingly unskilled in his fur type, or perhaps uncomfortable with poodle mixes. It's seemingly very hard to find one who won't just shave them down, regardless if they actually have mats or not.
