We got four different kinds of rolls, and both of us got the pink salmon rolls as well. Oh my god, I took one bite and I didn't know what to do with it. The rest of the sushi needed lots of ginger to be eaten with it, and to me, that means it's not a good or fresh fish they are using as it's very fishy. The rolls were super salty, which I don't understand why! The only roll that I kinda enjoyed was the Mama Mia one, as it was vegetarian, but it was still salty. I am assuming the rice is super salty. Would I go there again? Absolutely not, as it's not my cup of tea for sure. I wish I can give 5 starts to the staff but think about my three stars here are a 5 stars towards the staff.

Service is normally good unless they are packed, which happens every working lunchtime. The decor is modern, chic and comfortable and the Korean chefs are masters of sushi, especially the owner. This place is in the passage between the Sony Center and the train hall leading to the Arkaden. The Sushi Circle is horrible and expensive by comparison.

The sushi (Rainbow Roll, Spicy Tuna) were fresh, tasty, and were nicely arranged on a large plate. The Pad Thai was generous and decent (missed a little bit of peanut flavor), and the Tom Kah Gai came in a surprisingly big bowl with plenty of mushroom and chicken. Prices were okay for the area (sushi - 8-10 Euro per roll/8 pcs, main dishes 10-12 Euro, glass of tea 3.50 Euro) but overall a little more than what you'd pay in other parts of the city.

Salmon soup was really a thai lemongrass soup with a couple of pieces of salmon in it. Drinks were fairly priced; white wine was oaky but not too bad, and the saki was surprisingly good given the lack of choices. Sashimi bowl was overly flavored: you had to scrape off the sauces and sesame to get to the fish flavor. The fish was nice, but the menu lied: there was no eel in the bowl. There was a lot of lettuce, however. Speaking of lies, the waiter absolutely refused to honor Yelp's free Prosecco with checkin offer. In many cities, this place would be a disaster, but I grade sushi in Berlin on a curve, since this isn't the town for that cuisine, and I did appreciate the atmosphere of Zen, despite some of the shortcomings of food and service.

When a friend of mine raved about sushi in Berlin, I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't skeptical. Sushi and Berlin, in my mind, don't exactly go quite as nicely as peanut butter and jelly. In other words, the two don't exactly go hand in hand. Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. Kuchi is a little gem on Kanstrasse. We arrived prior the dinner rush, and were quickly escorted to our seats. The lighting in the restaurant was rather subdued, which I found created such a pleasantly calm atmosphere. Insider's tip? This would be a great date spot. The waiters and waitresses were just the right amount of attentive. And now onto bigger and better things--the sushi. Coming from a Los Angeles native, I really do have to say that the sushi was absolutely on point for the price. We ordered the sushi platter for 3, and let's just say that they were far more generous than I had expected. The portion was enough for two relatively hungry guys, and one slightly peckish girl. The sashimi was great quality, and most importantly, fresh, and the rolls were very flavorful and nicely wrapped. The only roll I couldn't have cared less for was the cucumber roll--but then again, who ever likes the cucumber roll...The presentation was great, and to be totally honest, I'm not quite sure if it was the company or the food, but the dining experience overall was absolutely solid. I only wish that I remembered what rolls exactly came with our platter, or how much exactly we each had to fork up, but I guess that's indication of a great dining experience, is it not?
