The idea of serving pizza by the slice allows you to mix and match, ordering several flavors in one meal. And if you're with a larger crowd, there are alternatives for every taste: fried goodies (supplì, crocchette etc.), rotisserie pork and chicken, sides and cold cuts. There's even a whole section for draft beer and gourmet cheese. Meaning that if you don't want to take it to go, there's plenty of room to seat inside and even watch the latest soccer game, if that's your cup of tea. I'm more of a fan of thinner, less risen pizza, but I gladly make an exception for the creative combinations on display, including vegetarian and meat-loving creations. And if you do the math, you end up spending less than if going to a more traditional restaurant, although the pizza by the slice is priced a bit on the high side. All credit cards are accepted, so don't put any limit to your appetite and order away, flour, water and yeast never tasted so good and rich.

I've known it as a reliable establishment for good pizza, but recently I was told that its coffee and pastry offerings were, too, at that level. After a few tastings of cappuccino, sweets and pizzas, I must say, now empirically, that La Locanda is the go-to-spot in this neighborhood for a quick breakfast or a pizza stop. The cappuccino is undeniably good, like many other places in the area. Its porcini and truffle pizza is fantastic - for a value that is just as easy to digest (as someone accustomed to Manhattan prices). But note that they only serve pizza for dinner. My most recent lunch visit allowed to try and now attest to the deliciousness of its homemade bread and the clam pasta. All in all, every visit has met and/or exceeded my expectations so far.

La Terrazza offers a rooftop terrace seating with gorgeous views of the country side. This is the type of place in the business park, within walking distance from Mariott, where many offices are located. Great assortment of antipasti (cold appetizers), including sautéed veggies, artichokes, eggplant, roasted zucchini, red bell papers, carpaccio, prosciutto, soppressata, fresh mozzarella nuggets drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Beef stew, meat loaf, steamed seasoned potatoes, pasta shells, sautéed green beans, octopus with macaroni. I called them that, they may have proper Italian names attached, I just didn't care to go deep today, nor did I have time for that. The staff welcomed us in and we had a great table to take in the beautiful atmosphere here. Lots and lots of vines give this place "that" look. I selected the Paccheri from the Pasta first course side. We shared an appetizer of Fritto Misto while waiting for the meal. We especially loved the fried ascolane olives & supplì (filled with rice, tomato sauce, and mozzarella). These were very tasty. The Paccheri sauce (carbonara) and seafood (mussels, clams, & octopus) was absolutely delicious. The pasta was a little too al dente for me. I think it's preferred that way in some regions. The more choices the better, right? If you stay here long enough and as often as I do, you'd crave for a variety too. So this is a good place to get yourself a pizza. Your basic choices, Margherita with mozzarella or prosciutto topped, or pretty much anything else Italian you can think of. Just put those complicated American toppings combos out of your mind and you'll be alright, I promise (smile). Enjoy your pizza!
