    3€ for 3 flavors
    Chris L.

The gelato was flavorful but it was very runny. It melted very fast for me to enjoy it as we walked to termini. The price is right. 2 scoops for 3.5€ i believe. This is a legit place though. The guy was pure Italian when I ordered.

    Yummy!

Gelato!!! One of the best gelateria in Rome! They don't have many flavors and your won't see the gelato displayed. I got strawberry and vanilla. It was rich, creamy, and soft. It was soo good! I believe it was about 3 something euro for a medium. I guess that's quite normal for Rome. Another gelato place that you should hit up!

A hidden gem, out of the tourist tracks but still pretty central. An artisanal ice cream made in a completely visible lab, separated by the sales area by a glass wall only. There aren't too many flavors, but their quality is really high: don't miss the Sicilian pistachio and other creams, and try the excellent "panna zabaione", a delicious eggs flavored whipped cream which is worth the 50 cents supplement on the cone's price.

    Fresh gelato every day!

Excellent coffee and gelato! Fresh made gelato made daily with fresh ingredients before your eyes. Creamy smooth and flavor rich. Part of our daily ritual for a great start to the day.

Fantastic! So glad we walked over and sampled their gelato. I tried the strawberry and my wife had the vanilla. Can't wait to go back.

Everything tastes super fresh and creamy, and the flavors feel really authentic without being overly sweet or artificial. What I liked most is how consistent it is--whether you go for classics like pistachio or something more indulgent, it always tastes rich and high quality. It's the kind of spot where you can tell they really care about what they're making. The vibe is simple and focused on the gelato itself, not anything flashy, which honestly fits perfectly for a place like this. Always worth stopping by if you're in Rome and want proper gelato.

And very likely using a warm process. Very clean, payment / ordering process is efficient. That's where I say everything is good. The gelato - really not for me. It's very very sweet for my tastes. Which might be fine as it's nothing I would crave to eat more than once in a while - and not more than a few spoonfuls at a time. Not to worry, that's all you're getting anyway as the scoopers seem trained to smooth on your gelato like a thin coat of spackle, without ever filling the hole. That's all. I have to try some more around Rome to see if I'm bringing my untrained perspectives into this forum. As they say.... When in Rome.....

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

Today, on my walk toward Neptune's Fountain, I passed this little gelato shop--Gelateria La…read moreRomana--and kept going. But I stopped in my tracks because I saw a line wrapped up 50+ people deep, all waiting just to get inside and order. Now it's day two in Rome and I still hadn't had any gelato, even though I've walked past what feels like a hundred shops. So what would a fat man from Alabama do? Turn right back around, of course--because nothing says "this is probably good" like a crowd stacked up like cordwood waiting for ice cream. I finally make it up to the counter and the young guy looks at me and says in English, "What do you want?" Well... I can't pronounce half of what I'm looking at, so I just show him a picture of his own menu I had snapped a minute earlier. He smiles, reads it out loud, and then asks, "What size?" At that point my brain is a mess, so I mumble "medium" and point at the cup sitting by the register. One problem down. Then I move into the next line--about a dozen people ahead of me--and when it's finally my turn again, I just point at my receipt like, "It's on there somewhere, I think." I can't read Italian, so I'm fully operating on faith at this point. The guy looks up and says, louder this time: "What flavor?" Flavor? That was not the question I was prepared for. So I point back at the picture again and say, "Whatever that is... I want that one." He scoops it up, loads it into the cup, and sends me on my way. Now comes the real test--taste it--but there are people everywhere, so I grab a quick photo first, because priorities. First bite? Hallelujah. That was the moment. That gelato hit and I just kept walking down the sidewalk like a man who somehow figured out how to survive ordering ice cream in Italy. Seriously, it was excellent. And if I get turned around again like today, I already know where I'm going back.

My favorite flavors were the caramello salato con noci pecan, the stracciatella, and the crema di nocciola al cioccolato bianco. All of them were incredibly smooth, balanced, and packed with flavor. This place consistently delivers incredible gelato with great service and great value. An easy five stars and a must-visit every time I'm in Rome.
